missed out on this 2 months ago. was lucky now!
I had it at Junior School. I would have been 11 at the time. The cover popped up on my fb page a couple of days ago and I choked. Omg, I remember that. Wow!! In receiving it today, each of the pages is just as I remember it. My eldest is currently sat up in bed with it.
They checked the drawer and had a single one left which they promptly gave to me for free without question.
May I ask why?
If you're looking to part together a #10123 Luke Skywalker, those aren't the correct legs (although they are similar).
for
50€ ... pretty happy with that deal. perfect addition for my city's contruction site!
on bricklink people ask for 110,-
So far, 16 DFB for £31.84.
Then today I find out they have also given me an extra 200 VIP points for the error, so 16 DFB for £21.84 (yes, I know I'll have to buy another £10 of LEGO to spend the points but that will happen anyway).
So 16 DFB for £21.84. Not bad.
^ But will you count the 200 VIP points again when you use them, thinking "I'm saving money here."? I always have to be careful when applying the 'extra points is saving money' logic - remember where you count them, otherwise you're double-counting.
I want to think of examples, but my brain is hurting.
The Lego, box, instructions, even a 1981 toy catalogue, were all in excellent condition.
Yeah when I went on vacation to Italy a couple years ago, I saw a shop that had what looked to be a NIB (through the window) set from a good 20 years ago. Of course it was early in the morning on a weekend so they were closed and I couldn't actually check the store out :(
I have not seen any lego in charity shops in Nottingham over the last few years.
Plenty of M...B... though. ;(
thats cool. Drop me a bell if fancy trading anything. My collection is extensive. Lol.
first, I got a lot for ~$10USD that consisted of #4737 , #5560 and #7603 all 100% complete in great condition.
The real deal this week though was a beautiful #6399 ,price? ~$300 USD. All the parts are Mint and it included instructions and box with inner boxes. No yellowing, no scuffs, no damage, just shiny like new parts. Even the minifigs still had stiff joints and the neck peg prints were unscathed. Oh, and 4 of the stickers are still on the sheet! All the others are present and nicely aligned. The only thing missing is a grey 16x32 plate but the seller found it and I'm going to pick it up from him.
From what the seller told me, he built it as a kid, put it back in the box and it sat in there for 20 years. It is honestly the most genuine fun I've ever had with a Lego set and I can see why people want Lego to rerelease these. This was definitely not what I expected when I went to go pick up a set from 1990 for such a great price. :)
Zombies! ....poor guys.
I wanted to post there, but I felt it a little insensitive so I am posting in the brag discussion. My wife is not an AFOL although she does will build with the kids, she likes HP very much and thus likes HP Lego and likes to sort. When we started dating in 2004, I was in a 'grey age' of Lego where I kept tabs on what was out there but wasn't buying much. I mistakenly hid my hobby at first but as time passed it became clear that I loved Lego and she didn't mind at all. Then xmas 2006 came around and she got me the first Star Wars Sand Crawler set which was a big present at the time. She saw how much I loved that and it became an xmas theme. Next year she got me a 10179 and I was over the moon. I had lusted after it but had no intention on spending that much money on Lego. We got married in 2008.
We do a lot of other things together and support each others 'hobbies' as we can see how much joy they bring to each other, even if we don't share them. I feel like the luckiest guy around.
Sorry for the blog, but I just felt I needed to brag about my wife.
so after spend a hour working out what to buy and what i got the money for.
