The £170 price point is absolutely incredible- 4p a piece. I can see this selling out very easily due to people buying this for the actual build and for parts packs.
Edit - I should watch the video before engaging gum-flapping.
I just got the first VW - and despite my admiration - it's a friggin' ugly model.
They have kept the price equal to the Tower Bridge rather than screwing us over, which is unexpected given the trend to go 50 - 100 Euro over what it should cost.
It's really nice, but thanks god a pass for me :)
I'd be quite worried if there weren't ;-)
Although there's obviously a lot of small parts, it does seem to be incredibly good value for money, and I'm almost tempted to stray from my purist SW collection....
Maybe they'll sell a two-pack with both sets. TB and BB - together in one UCS Creator Megabox Limited Edition! (Where can I put in a request for a Globe Theatre?)
Any chance we'll see a SOH-scale Sydney Harbour Bridge? I might just swoon!
I guess I could re-purpose the 2nd bathroom in the apartment and place shelves in the bathtub area... turn the water on to remove the dust from the sets once in a while :)
but at £170 I'll be buying!
We are just shocked that it hasn't been overpriced. #71040 Disney World Cinderella Castle at $399, I'm looking at you. It is sounding like a lot of spendy Disney Fairy Dust™.
I'm looking at you, @Pitfall69...
A bit disappointed it doesn't include a working clock with a mutable Big Ben :)
love the look of it.
Definitely want to keep thinks balanced out.
The back wall of the model really is an external wall, although three other buildings are joined to it. It's not as ornate as the "outside", but not as drab as the model suggests either.
The line of the back wall continues across those other buildings and it is only directly against the Elizabeth Tower, where the knob for turning the clock hands is, that there would be "rooms open at the back".
^I heard that too, they said it's going to be on a crossroads base plate as you like them so much.
;)
And then drive everyone insane with a single image instruction sheet to really make it challenging.... hehehe...
Loving this set though - will be the first creator non-minifig-scale set I get - I'll brave through the inevitable building tedium (as I'll be honest, I can't see it being particularly fun) to have a nice building in the end!
