I managed to find a 95% complete #6984 Galactic Mediator for 35 Euros on a Dutch auction website. Luckily the replacement parts cost me about 5 Euro, so all in all quite a steal. :-)

I picked up 41078 Elves Castle for $49.99 and 41094 Friends Lighthouse for $25 .91.  Not great but I'm happy with them.

Several hundred pieces from a garage sale for $15. Already found a Deadpool with worn head (which finalized my decision to buy), Nick Fury, Spider-Man, and some cool regular parts. Manageable amount of off brands, which I had seen a lot of at first.

Bought a lot of 13 SW Figures for 2,50€ a Figure (which is already good, since it included a Vader, and a Emperor) and it turns out that the included Leia Figure has smooth hair :)  I guess the Minifigure Collector knows the value!

    Naaa, printed.

I had it at Junior School.  I would have been 11 at the time.  The cover popped up on my fb page a couple of days ago and I choked.  Omg, I remember that.  Wow!!  In receiving it today, each of the pages is just as I remember it.  My eldest is currently sat up in bed with it.

Have you cracked the seals to make sure it's not just a box full of random Lego?  Otherwise amazing find.  Hard to believe someone would own such a set and not know its value.
  • fievelfievel FloridaMember Posts: 2
Yep, I already started to build it. Everything is there. The funny thing is that the seller had 2 of these sets!!! And was a lego fan! I was very surprised too about the price...

    May I ask why?

If you're looking to part together a #10123 Luke Skywalker, those aren't the correct legs (although they are similar).

Jedi robes with pockets sounds practical, but looks more like a completely unstylist Tatooine fannypack.

I bought 16 of the DFB figures from [email protected], when they were showing as £1.99 and they went through at that price as I had the shopping cart bug of not updating carts properly, which also means I cannot spend VIP points. Then the invoice came and I was charged £2.49 each, so I phoned to let them know. So they honoured the original £1.99 price.

So far, 16 DFB for £31.84.

Then today I find out they have also given me an extra 200 VIP points for the error, so 16 DFB for £21.84 (yes, I know I'll have to buy another £10 of LEGO to spend the points but that will happen anyway).

So 16 DFB for £21.84. Not bad.

^ But will you count the 200 VIP points again when you use them, thinking "I'm saving money here."? I always have to be careful when applying the 'extra points is saving money' logic - remember where you count them, otherwise you're double-counting.

I want to think of examples, but my brain is hurting.

While we in the USA definitely get great sales and clearance on LEGO, it seems the UK and Europe have much older, rarer charity shop finds. Personally I'll take the cheaper LEGO in general, but I absolutely love seeing the classic sets that are found in some of the charity shops around the world.

Yeah when I went on vacation to Italy a couple years ago, I saw a shop that had what looked to be a NIB (through the window) set from a good 20 years ago. Of course it was early in the morning on a weekend so they were closed and I couldn't actually check the store out :(

The good charity shop Lego finds are usually in very affluent regions of the UK.
I have not seen any lego in charity shops in Nottingham over the last few years.
    Plenty of M...B... though. ;(

I suspect that charity shops in higher income areas will always have more and better stuff in general, not just LEGO. People with more disposable income are more likely to have excess stuff to donate. I was visiting family in eastern North Carolina a couple of months back, and the thrift stores were pitiful in comparison to what I see here in Connecticut.

Possibly. I live in Knowle, a village near Solihull and I guess it is pretty affluent. A small 2-3 bed house would set you back around £350k. Not London prices, but for Midlands very pricey. There is a charity oxfam bookshop too, I swear it's more expensive than Waterstones. lol

Pretty good Goodwill haul today. I saw these "grab bags" with what looked like mostly mid to late 70s parts. Lots of "stiffs", a couple of maxi figures, and some classic space and castle minifigs in really good shape. Parts for 487, 462, 585, and 6077 are mostly there. Just have to wash off all of the 1970s kids germs.

    Zombies! ....poor guys.
