75095 Tie Fighter - large flat panels - poor quality?

gold682gold682 Member Posts: 257
I'm currently building my recently acquired Tie Fighter and am slightly disappointed with the quality of the 8 large flat faced black panels that make up part of the wings. Mine are dull in comparision to the polished finish of the rest of the smaller flat panels, have a noticable "spruce" mark in the centre of each one and are thin to the point where you can see the "holes" that make up the underneath. Anyone else expereienced this?

That is just the way they are unfortunately.

They're very poor - same pieces as used for the UCS data plaques, but the big sticker on those covers up the poor finish. If TLG had used some smaller plates they"d have been nice and shiny.

Agreed. They seem to be the same poor quality in the City #60119 set from what the pictures show. I wonder why they aren't smooth?

This model was one of my more favorite builds. I agree that the dull panels is an annoyance but I think having the vanes crossing over them helps detract from it. Though it would look better with polished panels.
