Has anyone else seen CMF bags in the impulse area near checkout?  Whilst wandering through my local Target, I happened to notice S13 packs next to the impulse polybags.

    Very odd.

My target started that with the S13 left overs. They have been there forever now.

What is odd is seeing Targets around me NOW putting out endcap displays of the S15 finally.

One of mine has something similar. S13 by the registers, but get this...they're $4.99.

ours did that too.   anything not the most recent rev is marked a buck higher.   confusion sets in.

free $10 gift card when you buy SW $50+ purchases online at Target.com

    LEGO INCLUDED.

$10 back is like 20% off.
Add 5% red card for almost 25% off.

Double points at Lego Store = 10% off (back in rewards) + a stormtrooper poly (if they're still around)

Actually, no. I know this minor point has been beat to death around here but it's worth repeating/correcting: getting a $10 gift card with a $50 purchase is equivalent to buying $60 of LEGO for $50, or 17% off the total purchase. The gift card 'discount' doesn't occur until its actually used, and you need to buy at least $10 of something to use it. Also, the red card discount does help, but the percentages don't add. The correct calculation is (0.95 * 50)/60 = 0.792, or a little less than 21% off after the red card discount. Not bad, but not spectacular, either.

^ And in my house, those gift cards usually go to these silly, completely unnecessary things called diapers. I haven't figured out their purpose yet and even though larger sizes have been brought into our house over the years, they still don't even come close to fitting me.

@haakono - just one comment on the $10 gift card:  It can end up being almost $10 back, as it is acceptable at my Target to cash in the card at the Customer service desk, once it's balance is $9.99 or less.  I do this all the time with the $5 gift cards - and use my Red card to get the 5% back on my entire purchase.  YMMV.

Here are the sales at one of my local Targets(Centre of Cincinnati location near Ridge and Madison):
    #75100  $33.99
    #75101 $59.49
    #75103 $76.49
    #75140 $59.49

    YMMV.

@haakono point well taken. You are correct hence the word I used was "like". ;)

whatever the exact percentage is, the fact remains that those sets that were part of the promotion were going to be at a % cheaper than double points at Lego (sans Stormtrooper poly).

correction to my previous post: not ALL SW sets were on sale. About 35 of them were part of the promotion. I was saddened to see that the carbonate chamber wasn't one of them. :/

    Some big Star Wars sets 15% off - #75100, #75101, #75103, #75140
Saw it a few days ago, but been too busy to visit the forum
Wonder if it will carry over to next week.

Not personally interested, not enough of a discount for resale, and it would be easier to part out more copies of a smaller set.

Saw two #41097 for $11.16. Was a 3rd on the shelf, asked service desk if I could get that discounted too, no. Gonna part it out but will keep male minidoll as I did with spare #41100.

Saw a couple #30300 for $3.49. Like the big SW sets, good deal for self but not resale IMHO.

They finally ran out of S14 CMFs - saw Disney for like a couple days, now I'm seeing S15.

Yeah, the only time my attention is somewhat peaked is when it is clearance time, and only partially peaks my attention due to the lack of items in the store that are on clearance around where I live.

While going through a couple of local Targets, I found the CMF Series 13 near the checkout counters.  I searched through them quickly and found a hot dog guy, and to my surprise, the price was $4.89!  I figured it was still probably a good investment, but I was surprised to see that Target thought the same thing by jacking the price up by 25%!

I saw series 13 in the checkout aisle at a Target near me as well Western Burbs of Chicago). Weird that they are putting those out and that they have them at all at this point

You can also use Paypal to buy, whereas you cannot with Amazon

Just to clarify, why would anyone ever use Paypal to buy anything when they can use their own credit card directly?  I cannot imagine a scenario where that is more advantageous.

    Trying to really understand this.

Some people may not be able to get a credit card, due to various reasons. May not a want a credit card or may have funds in their paypal account from other sources such as selling thing. There are many reasons why someone would you use paypal over a credit/debit card.

When you link your CC to your paypal account and buy something through paypal with that card, you still get perks on your card (cash back, travel miles, etc). However, since the transaction goes through paypal, the online merchant (in this case LEGO) does not actually have access to your card info, they just get paid from paypal. If LEGO gets hacked the hackers won't be able to access your card info. So that is a pretty big advantage. I use paypal if given the choice. I think the chances of paypal getting hacked are significantly lower than online merchants.

Thanks for the responses.  Still having a hard time understanding the appeal.

Can't get a credit card.  I can see this being a legit reason.

Don't want a credit card.  Paypal is somehow better?  Safeguards on a credit cards are vastly superior to what Paypal provides.

Funds in a Paypal account are being held by Paypal, and gaining interest...to Paypal.  I can't ever see leaving more than a $1 stagnating in a Paypal account.

Paypal being hack-proof, or less hack proof is...an illusion.  If nothing else, they are a bigger target due to the centralized nature of their model.

If someone generates revenue from sales via PayPal (or is given money from someone they know again via PP), this is a good reason to use PP.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,342
    #41068 for $48 and #41108 for $42, both 20% off

PayPal is useful for small sellers to take credit cards and print shipping labels. Maybe someone who gets money through them wants to pay with their balance.
  • ThoughtsonblocksThoughtsonblocks Member Posts: 178
For individuals or small dealers, it can be impractical to set up whats necessary to accept credit cards, so using paypal is a much easier way for them to take payment for credit cards versus just cash or check.  It also provides a safety net to buyers buying from somebody they do not know if they can trust giving their credit card info to directly.  Also from a practical standpoint, I always know my paypal login info, while I dont always have my credit card info or physical card handy, so it takes longer to get my card and type in the name, billing address, card number, expiration date, CCV number etc vs just my username and password for paypal.  I have everything set up to direct draw out of my account so I dont need to worry about my card info changing or expiring etc and no money ever sits in the account, its all automatically pushed through.

I leave money in my account. Whatever I sell on eBay stays in unless I need it else where. It is much easier for me to keep it separate from household finances. That money in turn is used at point of sale with my PayPal MasterCard and I get money back for doing so. Or I use it online since its easier for me to log in to PayPal. I'll forgo the .3% interest or whatever passes for interest bearing accounts these days for that simplicity.

PayPal vs Credit Card. I understand from a seller/merchant pov, and I also understand for people who don't have a credit card. If I squint just right, I can even understand paying with PP if you have a balance (I prefer to transfer it to my bank account). But it has never made sense to me why I would pay with PP vs straight through the cc. I know someone who does this frequently; when there is a problem with a transaction it is a challenge to get it resolved. In my experience, it adds an unnecessary layer of complexity. Additionally, I have no faith in PayPal to have my back if something goes wrong; I will always need PayPal for some transactions, and they know it. My credit cards have been extremely responsive when I have had issues. Don't get me started on automatic PayPal payments.

And now, back on topic: I still haven't seen Series 15 CMFs at my Targets. They did check in the back for me and found a box of Disney figs.

At Target today, I price matched #75902 and #75904 to their site (which seems to be price matching Walmart and Amazon). After tax and paid with the Red Card, my total was $102.10. Not the best deal, but better than full retail. I also noticed that they found more Series 13 CMFs and mingled them with the Disney figs. Still no Series 15.
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,001
The times Target hasn't matched their own site is when it says "out of stock online".....or when they just dont feel like it :)   Target like the other retailers kinda makes it all up as they go along

No sticker at all!  i didn't check the price before,  and Lego [email protected] show it is a retired product!

i guess the price just based on the pieces count,  the set has over 400 pieces
