How about System Shock 2 for atmosphere, story and influence!
SNES Mario Kart was crazy-fast and we spent hours playing that as well.
My favourite though is Rayman on the PS1. Still infuriating me 22 years later, but I love it. I am not allowed to play it when my partner is home, she genuinely fears for my health and our TV!
As a youngster - Too many to list in full, here are a few.
Goldeneye and perfect dark (N64).
Killer instinct ( arcade and SNES).
Any streetfighter or streetfighter / capcom vs game (arcade, dresmcast, saturn).
Lemmings ( A500).
SWIV and silkworm (A500).
Flimbos quest (C64)
Etc etc etc.
I used to play loads and loads. I also used to collect computers, consoles and all things game related.
My PS3 died over 2 years ago now, I really miss San Andreas.
Off to youtube for a trip down memory lane.
Good Luck all.
Great to see some new faces in the draw. makes such a difference doing a late night one as the US has more entrants.
Some great answers in there as well and it has rekindled so many old memories of video gaming. I missed out on System shock but love a scary video game. Silent Hill used to frighten me loads, and I also got very frightened with a game called Fatal Frame.
I swear it's harder to pick a favourite game than a favourite set, but Super Mario 64 might just be it.
ZX Spectrum would be Atic Atac. Amstrad 6128 would be Elite. Amiga 500 would be Speedball 2. PS1 and PS2 would be Tomb Raider(s), Xbox 360 is when I fell out of playing really. Years passed until I noticed The Last Of Us and thought it looked pretty cool. I traded some Lego on here with another Bricksetter last year for a PS3 especially to play it. I wasn't dissapointed. In fact I'm surprised it hasn't had a mention. Perhaps it's because it's typically a game you'd only play once.
It indeed was a curse getting it though, as I ended up buying a PS4. My son has the XBone so we have the best of both worlds. Just finished both Tomb Raiders - fantastic next gen updates and about to start Far Cry Primal.
Good luck everyone.
Someone mentioned King's Quest. Between those stupid games, and Police Quest, I spent hours playing those games and an equal amount of hours figuring out if hardware upgrades would work in my 486 Gateway computer. (Mom - the Pentiums are coming! I have to get one so King's Quest VII will run faster!)
At a local museum they have the TMNT Arcade game from the early '90's. I don't wonder where a large portion of my paper route money got spent.
And F-Zero. I played that game so much, I could complete Knight League with my eyes closed.
Wart the frog...where art thou? Nes
I'll stop now.
Hard luck everyone else but there is always next week
Shenmue.
