my palace cinema MOC is done. all but for the stickers.
i will stick them in later.
dont know the part count, but i use up 93% of all the sand yellow bricks
i know i have a lot of stuff left over. but that was always going to be the outcome.
them will get use in other MOC's.

Built an alternate version for the haunted house

Any idea how many pieces you used to complete the fence? I'm thinking of bricklinking a proper fence for my Haunted House, but I can't be sure how many and what pieces to actually buy. Some pictures of the sides and back would be nice too if you could, please. :-)

    Here are a couple of shots one side and back. The two sides are the same. Not sure of the piece count. @Jern92 ;

Built my first modern Technic set, #42036 Street Motorcycle. I am very pleased with how the model came out, but my thumbs were killing me at the end from pushing all those pins and cross axles!

I have just completed #10235 Winter Village Market and, apart from the admittedly rather repetitious part of building all the circular top of the carousel itself, I have really enjoyed it.
Okay, it's no #10196 Grand Carousel, but I think that it's a lovely representation that will look great in our Christmas display this year.
I like these kinds of sets because they add character and life to any larger display. I'm just gutted that the rest of the WV / Seasonal sets are all packed away, so I'm going to have to wait 8-9 months to see the final result. :-(

Got my 2x VIP order today. Building #70331 Ultimate Macy and #41107 Pop Star Limo. The rest of the order is gifts or stuff I'll try to sell first.

We finally built and set up our spring display. The Airjitsu temple is in the middle, with the fall leaves/trees exchange for spring trees with flowers. We have the fire temple to the left and Ninjago city to the right, and a wide variety of dragons to celebrate spring. We took the mini dragon poly that they had, and made some mods to create a green dragon and blue dragon. I created a mid-size white dragon, bought the Cole's small dragon that is out, and grabbed the gold dragon. We took a few clear pieces to make it look like some of the dragons are flying, and then pulled in a baby dragon from the Elves set. We have 6 Ninjas (originals, and green/gold) on dragons. Yeah, I know.... I should not have green and gold on the same display, and I may change that, but it is a fun spring display that we are still tweaking.

Well, it did not turn out as I expected; a lot more crowded than I anticipated. Also, the elevation does not work well as it is still too steep for the engines.

^I think eurobricks or perhaps railbricks (but maybe they are defunct now? haven't seen new material from them but archives should work) have good info on how to elevate track at a rate the trains can handle.
  • ecmo47ecmo47 North CarolinaMember Posts: 2,086
^ There has not been any new stuff on Railbricks for a couple years but the website is still up and has a lot of great info. I do not recall seeing anything specific about grades needed for bridges though.

it looks both crowded and empty. it may be better to spread the trains more around the whole layout.
also it looks like there may be collisions if you run several of them at the same time. do rails crossroads (crossrails?) really exist? that seems dangerous.

@JooTog   You have to take the elevation up one plate per track section to make it work properly. I have done this before and I think Huw had commented to same thing.

Did you use any extra track or is what you see here for track used what came with all of the trains?

@piratemania7  No, a plate or 1/3 brick height.

Do you mean crossing rails in real life? They might not be very common, but they do exist. I was planning on running two trains at a time, one on each loop, so I can keep an eye on collisions.

Yes, it is crowded. I just wanted to throw all six rains at once, but obviously did not work.

That is what I was afraid of. I do not have the space to do that, at least not high enough for another train to pass underneath. Oh well, maybe some day if I get more space.

Did you use any extra track or is what you see here for track used what came with all of the trains?
Extra tracks; straights and splits. Only #7939 and #60042 cargo trains came with splits. I used the flex tracks on the train stations to have straight tracks for other parts of the layout.

I will keep playing with the layouts; if I come up with something more interesting I will share.

    Thanks for the feedback!

@JooTog  You can try putting two engines on one train with what you have there and see how that goes. One pushing and the other pulling.

I rarely post pics, so hopefully the posting goes correctly. I could not figure out how to upload my panoramic shot, so had to divide it into three sections, and my lighting is not the best.  The airjitsu part is my favorite part with the dragon and the updated spring flowers on the blacksmith shop.  If I had unlimited flats, I would love to fit it all together... I used the three big sets others have mentioned together.  I made the little green, blue and white dragon, although, I fixed the white's tail a bit after I took the pics. It is hard to see, but the red and blue dragon are on clear rods so they look like they are flying. The green is sitting on the roof top, and the brown is also. I need to add a bit more spring scenary to the right and left sides of the display.

@tamamahm ;I'd like to see it with just the 3 buildings set very close to each other, not necessarily with the dragons or figs. Do you have a pic of such?

Let me see what I can post tomorrow. :-) I do know someone on this board, maybe more than someone, has made a display and posted with those three buildings. I have been waiting to make mine since seeing that.

Here is a photo that someone did with all three together, and with the in between area filled in. I think there is one more photo floating around, but this is one of the photos that convinced me I had to have these buildings together.

Here is an update on the Batcave I mentioned a week or so ago:
I realize its not the best one ever created, but its about 2 months of my LEGO building time.   Lights are Brickstuff.

The biggest building challenge, besides the pure size, was to try to have decent rock work, and lots of different angles going on.   Not sure the photos do that justice, but I was pretty happy with the overall result.

I drew inspiration from some other MOC's I a have seen, and various incarnations of the Batcave in the comics.  Also I have some minor homages to the previous LEGO Batcaves worked in, the Sewer from the first one, some of the details from the new Classic Batcave, and ..... very little I suppose from the 6860 set.   I tried to go for a 'working' Batcave.  Something with labs, work-spaces, etc.

The wood section is supposed to be a leftover from the original foundation which was simply built up around.   And I thought it was nice to add a little different color visually.

There is a working elevator to an updated Wayne Manor that sits directly above the Batcave, I'll be adding photos of that soon.

See more at my FLICKR pages:
    https://flic.kr/s/aHskwFFiWf

I also added some updated photos of our layout.

After building the 'old' in the Sopwith Camel, it's only natural to them go with the 'new' in the F-35 Lightning II:

    V hard.

^I think its a stellar set for its RRP. The finished model is solid and looks great. Best part of the build experience is the creative way the angles of the wing were created.

Hey now....Lego doesn't do war toys so there is no way that could be a F-35!

I must say that your work in progress looks very awesome! I like the choice of new Wayne Manor as it is more unique & lively than previous versions, plus I think it renders very well in brick form due to the non-flat architecture.
  • danstraindepotdanstraindepot Member Posts: 170
    @BrickDancer
Thanks, so many other had done the previous ones, that I was having a hard time getting excited about doing another version of those.  I agree completely that when I seen the new one, it seemed more lively and meant to be built in LEGO!  Spot on with your comments.  Thanks again.

Here is a shot of the Wayne Manor above the Batcave:

Here is the source material for what appears to be the new Wayne Manor in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman film:

    Hopefully this is correct!

This is a work in progress, I am basically building up the outside first.  Then I will come back and finish the interiors.   The main floor is stationary, and the 2nd floor & roof will come off in 4 different sections each (modular style).   The elevator will work, and that will be stationary through and go from the 2nd level into the batcave.   I am also pre-wiring for lights.

Oh my God that is awesome!

@danstraindepot how many pieces have you put in it so far?
  • DNADNA New York, USAMember Posts: 89

Earlier I was putting together some DNA structures with my kids until my 3 year old kept trying to make a duplo spiderman stand on top thus breaking them. My 8 year old put one back together though so I snapped a pic.

After that we moved on to building this for the second time (first build went to school for show and tell and it didn't survive the second graders). I am going to buy some lights for this thing.
