    Nice one @SumoLego.

Annoyed at TRU Australia, we were supposed to be getting #5004468, but it seems they only supplied them to the New South Wales & Victoria stores, lots of peoples on Aussie FB pages & Gumtree offering a bucket load of them, asking rough what the CMF goes for.
I don't think that they even stock them here in Canada.

@kiki180703 Oh thanks for that I was asking previously but hadn't seen if they did.  Guess we will be left buying on the secondary market if we really want one.  I was sure hoping to find one locally at retail price.

    Pulled the trigger on 2 baseplate packs from Amazon - each is a 15" (38cm) and 3 10" (25cm, 2 green 1 blue) for $28.68
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0085Y3YV0
2 is enough for free shipping, the 15"s I need and more than enough 10"s, all for a better deal than [email protected]

Speaking of [email protected], I need to plan for 2x VIP.

After reading a new pilot review of the F-35 Lightning II praising it as it deserves, decided it was about time to pick up the #31039 Blue Power Jet. Luckily TRU is running 20% off on Creator sets this week and the set was actually at regular RRP to start with. Amazing on its own, but I also picked up the $100 GC for 15% off on ebay that @MrJ_NY kindly pointed out. So final cost was $47.59 (32% off RRP), not too shabby!

Also of note was that I was looking for the Chicken Suit Coop, but Customer Service girl informs that they put about 50 on the shelves this morning but someone came in and cleared 30, then another person picked up the rest. My name might not be Timmy, but ouch!

Just brought #60105 , #31040 & #31027 to have a go at the mighty micro building comp on the main page. Had to pick these up as very few of the sets I own actually have the required wheels and axles for the competition. Now to dig through the loose bricks I have and see what I can come up with.

Does anyone have the carousel? I have the Ferris wheel and my little boy has the fairground mixer. He's obsessed with roller coasters and theme parks currently following a trip to Chessington last October. Is the carousel a nice build? Does it look as good as the pics?

Or shall I spend the bricklink money on the detectives office, brick bank and a few other bits and pieces?

    Any advice welcome thanks
  • tallblocktootallblocktoo Member Posts: 497
^You will certainly get more bricks for your money and thus more builds gong the later route.  The carousel would be awesome to own I agree to add to the fairground collection thus far.

My dilemma in a nutshell. I think I will wait because it'll take me all year to bricklink it and all the alloted 'lego budget'. It would also have to be without the music box as that one piece is £150

Picked up a couple chicken suit guys in Sainsburys earlier, not really sure why as I already have the proper CMF but you can't have too many animal suit guys right?!

Ordered the Modular Pet Shop on [email protected] on Monday. Should hopefully be here by Friday (according to the tracking). I decided to start collecting the modulars, though I need to resist the urge to be a completionist and try to get the retired sets. It was hard enough convincing the wife to let me get the current/non-retired sets (over time that is) but I dont think paying aftermarket prices for the retired ones is going to fly :)

Well I went mad on Monday and brought most of my collection up to scratch. Double VIPs as well. The most I have ever spent since starting Lego as a hobby. I gave in to the urge to start collecting modulars, so now it's modulars and UCS.

    1. #75060
    2. #75095
    3. #10218
    4. #10232
    5. #10243

Struggling to justify ewok village, sandcrawler and Fire HQ. I prefer display items over play sets. Maybe if there is decent discounts on the "may the 4th" sale I will pick one or two up.

I now have just enough money for a double VIP points order with free shipping.
I was going to get #21302 on sale for $47.98, but it's out of stock.
Friends Pop Star is also on my wantlist. #41135 is slightly cheaper at [email protected], #41107 much cheaper. (#41106 is much cheaper elsewhere, that's next on my list)
I'm also getting #10815 as a little kid gift and to get #30321. It looks like I'm also getting #30422 as hoped.

So I just got back from the Lego Store where we bought 3 more of the modulars, the Parisian Restaurant, Palace Cinema, and the Detective's Office. On top of that we also got the Ferris Wheel since my wife really liked that one. I was looking at the modulars on [email protected] and got worried that they might sell out soon since these three all show temporarily out of stock. So we figured we might as well get them now since we were going to get them anyway. The employee ringing us up was nice enough to let us purchase 3 of the items then do another transaction to purchase the fourth and use the points.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,342
I don't think I'll be going down the rabbit hole. I like Brick Bank in particular. Next time I have the money during double VIP...
My current order will bring me to just over 200 VIP points.

Been doing Minecraft and Architecture mainly, plus a Millennium Falcon, decided to jump into Modulars. Missed being able to get Pet Shop by like a day, so panic-bought Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant at the local Lego store last night, and then got home and ordered the Detective's Office. (feel like I'm just copying mustang69!)

Oh, and also picked up a Lakeside Lodge at the last second. When buying two modulars that seemed like a reasonable "impulse" buy!  :-)

@KingAlanI & @Don Yeah, I knew I wouldnt be able to resist finishing the current modular lineup when I decided to take the leap. Now I just need to resist the urge to get the retired sets.  Though I might start (slowly) collecting parts to see if I can build them that way, at hopefully a lower price :)
  • DonDon Member Posts: 63
@mustang69 Heh, same boat here - hoping I can resist the retired sets. Figure I should at least build one modular first before worrying too much though. :-)
  • JudgeChuckJudgeChuck Member Posts: 1,583
Don't worry about the retired modulars... Or, at least, try not to. There'll be plenty more to come in the future...
Get the Pet Shop though, if you can... I wasn't as impressed by it as the later ones at first, but it's got more "mod-ability" than many of the later ones and is a nice, standard building that every modular street needs.

Don't know how to apply this to GE, FB etc., but I helped myself to resist retired set at that time - CC, GG, MS following way:

CC you don't need because it has no interior

MS you don't need because it comes from a different product line

GG you don't need because re-release of Winter Toy Shop gives you a slight chance in the future :)

This has worked like a charm!

Well, when building a modular city for display purposes, the people ought to have some actual living space.

Plus, the 2nd, 3rd or 4th Pet Shop modulars make excellent space to incorporate the 2015 seasonal vignettes, the Big Bang Theory apartment as interiors...

A city needs some depth my friend, some depth!

I didn't think the Ewok Village was a UCS set (by anyone's definition)? The Sandcrawler might be a UCS playset, but it still looks good on display (despite not having a plaque).

There, I justified it for you :-)

Thats true! It's more a UCS set than the new Attack on Hoth ever will be. I do feel like I should get the crawler now..... Just for the simple fact it is UCS. Does it genuinely look good displayed?

    I need advice ha
  • xwingpilotxwingpilot Member Posts: 799
I have to admit I don't actually own it. Out of the two you mentioned I'd say it was the best for display, but only because it's a vehicle. If I'm honest it's not my cup of tea (I prefer flying vehicles with stands to playsets), and it is, well, a bit brown...

Others will I'm sure have a different opinion though, and at the end of the day it depends what you personally like.

Went to the LEGO store this afternoon and bought a whole bunch of Nexo Knights, Ninjago, and Elves sets. Saved a lot too — thank you, AFOL discount day! But it was still a pricy haul.

Went ahead and built #70317 with my brother @Lyichir soon afterwards. Normally I'd save a big set like that for a rainy day, but where I am, today WAS a rainy day. ;)
