The majority of Walmarts in my area had little to no clearance sales at all,I had to take a road trip to find what I did. Picked up 75100 - $30 First Order Snowspeeder.Sure it's ugly as hell but I got it for 25% off

Closing Walmart stores slash prices by 50%

    http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/22/news/world/walmart-store-closings/index.html

I'm sure the Lego have been wiped out at the stores that are closing

Some of those Friends Aisle clearance sets seem to be priced above RRP? (#41097, #41077) Might as well buy them on S@H and get the VIP points.

Didn't think WalMart pulled that crap though I've heard of that trick in general. I think I transcribed the numbers right.

That reminds me, I gotta check the local KMart that is closing and just started their liquidation sale.

I've seen plenty of stuff at RRP in Walmart clearance aisles. I figure it's often a case of them not having a set place for it on a planogram so they just chuck it into whatever space they can squeeze it in there.

I've only ever seen Chima, Hobbit, LOTR and Agents sets reduced in Walmarts and they usually never have any CMFs. I've never seen any CMFs in the store near my work.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852

I ran into WM today to get rid of a few pop/soda cans..okay, okay..and check for minifigures....and they had further reductions on LEGO clearance.

    #60080 City Space Port  $59.00

    #21117 Minecraft Endor Dragon  $35

#75106  Star Wars Imperial Assault Carrier  $64.00

#76032 SH Avengers Quinjet City Chase $40.00

    #70748 Ninjago Titanium Dragon  $19.00

#70743 Ninjago Airjitzu Morro Flyer  $5.00

#31039 Creator Blue Power Jet  $35.00

...and a few Chima $19.99 sets down to $11 that didn't interest me.   But that's just what this store had.  And I checked the City Spaceport on "Brickseek" inventory changer and there are a couple other stores nearby that say they have it for that price also.

I've only ever seen two Walmarts in my area with CMFs. One had Series 7, then randomly put out a ton of Series 9 about a year after it came out. The other still has more Simpsons Series 2 than they know what to do with. That's it though. Target is my usual CMF supplier.

Nice! I would have been all over the Space port and Creator jet for those prices.

Insanity on Walmart Canada's website early this morning as a whole ton of old product showed up such as:

    MetalBeard's Sea Cow (#70810)
    Grand Emporium (#10211)
    Millennium Falcon (#7965)
    Republic Gunship  (#75021)
    Kingdoms Joust (#10223)
    King's Castle (#70404)
    Tower of Orthanc

Unfortunately I didn't see it until about 3pm and everything good was gone. I did manage to get a Mountain Hut #31025 though.  :/

Did it still show how much they were going for?

@Pumpkin_3CK5 I think they were going for RRP. Now I'm kicking myself for not noticing :(
  • flordflord Member Posts: 797
It was all RRP. I had just looked at the website about 2 hours before it went live.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,838
The question now is was it an error and they do not have those any longer (and a lot of cancellation notices and angry folks are going to be in an uproar), or that they actually had them and people will be getting shipping notices?
  • flordflord Member Posts: 797
Everything is good. The people who posted on Brickpicker saying they ordered the old stock have not complained so far.
  • goshe7goshe7 Member Posts: 515
^Isn't it a bit premature?  Or have they reported actually receiving the ordered items already?

Thanks to @grounded I was able to pick up #31039 Blue Power Jet for $35. Great price for that set!

    Central Ohio Walmart - YMMV.

I lucked into one in a Target clearance aisle for $80.  Box was mangled but it was complete.

Found a couple new items different from the list above in case anyone's wanting one for themselves:

#75109 Obi-Wan Kenobi  $13.00    some stores might have it for $19...all others regular price

    #75083 AT-DP  $25

    City Swamp Police Helicopters $19

    City Arctic Outpost Helicopters $19

This week one Walmart had the Blue Power Jet for $35, and another had 1 Spaceport for $59, and 3 Imperial Assault Carriers for $64 each. A 3rd Walmart had no such deals. Oh well, I was happy to get what I could. Hope you guys get lucky too.

I just scored #75103 for $45.00. Pretty pumped! The tag said $64, I snagged the last one and it rang up at $45. Not bad for a fairly recent set.  6 numbered bags, all minifigs, and a crust instruction booklet!  Box was beat up, though

Out of curiosity- are these Walmarts the only Walmart stores in a fairly large geographic area?  I find the best Walmart Clearance deals in larger metro areas. Especially the smaller stores primarily used for groceries by the locals.
  • PsiNormPsiNorm Member Posts: 4
I have a couple of Supercenters close by, and a few in neighboring towns. It's kind of a crap shoot as to which will have the good clearances at what time.

No, the Walmarts I've seen these practices at are in the suburbs of Chicago. I've seen these practices at multiple stores. Not just one. There are plenty of options to buy Lego sets within minutes of these stores.

I'm never sure which walmart is going to have good deals, one down the road from me seems to have sets go 50% off like 3 weeks after stocking them, another marks down 70% randomly, and a bunch of others just sit around randomly marking 1 or 2 sets off 20% and letting them sit at that for months.

And btw, the app is so horrible for getting anything anymore. Can't buy from it and half the stuff in stock is either not or must be in the twilight zone.
  • red237red237 Member Posts: 335
^The app on my ipad says the app doesn't exist anymore!

Agree on the app being worthless. I used to be able to snag clearance deals using the app, I could see the price and I'd head to the store to snag it.

The Walmart I purchased the First Order Transport from only had one (on the shelf, to be fair) and the app said it was $85.99. Rang up for $45. Just can't rely solely on the app.

One Walmart had a number of torn and opened boxes marked down 35%. One nice clerk took the time to open each box with me to make sure all the parts were there. Only the Batman set was missing the Batman figure.

I told him I'd buy it if the deal was sweeter. His manager said that they had just marked it down that day and they would mark it down more if it was still on the shelf later. I said that it needed to be marked as missing pieces, he just shrugged. The clerk said he thought that practice was wrong (he was a great guy, taking the time to go through each set with me). I saw the set there on the shelf today, 35% off.

Make sure to check opened boxes.

I'm in a large area and it's the small, older Walmarts that typically have the decent clearance items. Like someone above said, it's the ones that are typically forgotten about except for the occasional grocery shopping. The larger, newer Walmarts are the ones that have a $39.99 set on clearance for $39.00.

    I'm with you.

In the "rich" Bay Area, you're hard pressed to find any deals on Lego.
  • monstblitzmonstblitz Member Posts: 653
The Walmarts near me in the DC Metro area don't even have a decent selection of Lego at normal price let alone clearance.  When I ask where the clearance section is at the Kingstowne Alexandria store they look at me like I have a 3rd eyeball.

^ I have some of those too. And some are even the bigger stores. Maybe one quarter of an aisle dedicated to LEGO and rarely update their inventory. They'll go months with empty shelf spots.

So many sets that I am finding that are clearanced look crushed far beyond "shelf wear" even for Wal-Mart. In most cases, seals look totally fine, but the boxes are definitely not something I'd ever give as a gift or resell. If the everything is inside, I don't mind too much. Still funny to see half the stores in my area with Spaceport still at full price, the rest at $59 (if they have any left) and the ones that went down to $30 (long gone).

Thanks for the notice of the #41058 Shopping Mall.

Walmart had a corporate mark-down on #60080 City SpacePort to $30 from $59 today...if you have a WM with them still on the clearance shelves.
