I've just finished #10251 Brick Bank, which I picked up at the weekend.

All-in-all it was a very enjoyable build, but I especially enjoyed the little washing machine / safe deposit box module.

I can understand why people think that it could have done with being bigger, but it's a very good-looking building.

I now need to dismantle all my Classic Space sets, so that I can set up all my modulars together on the dining room table!
i know others have said this and this is what i am planning to do my self but to make it "bigger" (read as higher) you can buy a 2nd copy of the model and add in the 1st floor to make it 3 floors tall. this will work well for me as i will use all the other part from the 2nd copy for MOC-ing with. i hope to by the end of the year to have a nice little street of buildings on display, only time will tell how it turns out in the end.
Yes, I have been following the progress of LegoSjaak and others on "The Other Forum" and they've been creating some really interesting results. That's not for me though, I am afraid... I've got a limited budget for LEGO (sole earner and a family to support), so I'll just have to enjoy what I have (which I do!) and also enjoy looking at what others have come up with.

Edited to add: LegoSjaak's Town Square is seriously impressive.
if LegoSjaak is who i think it is. then yes that town square is very seriously impressive.
my one will never be that good, just dont have the room (my street display will be on the same table that i build big sets on. [i did wall-e on my bed hehe.] so 25% of the space on the table has to be saved for building/MOC-ing on.)

    Speaking of MOC-ing.
i did this MOC Build today. using #60044 as a starting point and added some parts from other sets that i am not using right now.
ok so it a simple change. but it works well. i can tell you that roof on that truck was Not easy. that is what eat up my time to work out how to do it with the limited parts i had.  this truck will fit in better with the street plan i have in my head.

the tree looks good. hmm i have 3 of the "summer fun" set from last months freebie. i could make quite a good tree from the parts in that i think. but it would only be the 1 tree.

Built these on Sunday: #6277-1 Imperial Trading Post and #6024-1 Bandit Ambush. Missing about 5 or 6 parts and the sails from the Trading Post. First time I built the Bandit Ambush in 20 years!  Later this week I'll try to find all the minifig parts for both sets. I think I like these a lot more than newer sets. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

^^Nice set. I didn't get that one but my younger brother did. I'm really excited for the new version coming out this year, although its wings aren't quite so nice and it doesn't have the over-the-top absurdity of "ammo belts full of knives" working in its favor! Still, the fact that the new one splits into four vehicles rather than two makes quite an impression!

just got done with 1 of my #75080 AAT that i picked up for £7.50 each from sainsbury's today.
    its a cute little model.
small to, seeing as it's 300 odd parts.
and i now have a minifig of Jar Jar Binks, he will of course be used as target practice for my Nexo Knights. maybe i will do a Nexo Knights dungeon MOC, just so i can lock away Jar Jar in it.

Started on one of the #41101 last night that I bought in the Tesco sale.  It's going to be fun trying to mash two or three of these into a modular!

@chrisalddin if I ever get anything presentable, I'll post pictures for sure. At the moment I'm just building it as per instructions to get a feel for it.

Chess pieces. Did bishops first, 2x2x2 cones on top of 2 2x2 rounds. Then rooks - 2x2, 4 2x2 upward slant, 3 2x2. The pawns are just pairs of 2x2s. Will think of knight, king and queen later.
Sorted my upward slant by shape and my white 2x2 by condition. Want some pieces in the right color, and corner rather than edge slants.

#5590 to check if its complete. not really a fan. i ve had it long enough to not like it anymore. also did the alternate build. now its gonna go to bricklink for cheap.
i ve built the truck some weeks agoe without parts list. just instructions and search parts for every new step....  i am afraid to do the same with the trailer and helicopter!

tempted to dismantle truck --> sort parts with parts list --> start fresh

or are there any partslists for each assembly (truck, heli, trailer) ?

so when that is done i will post up some images for you all :)

These are the latest photos of Rey's Speeder that I'm building, the first is from about a week ago, and the second and third from this evening, now that I've received a large order of Dark Orange parts.

I've decided, however, to almost completely re-build the underlying frame of the model, in order to strengthen the whole thing. I need to re-build the upper back section of it anyway, in order to incorporate the windscreen (the frame is completely in the way), and there's other sections where I've added to the initial frame, and the strength of it is less than ideal.

It's going to be quite a big job, but the list of compromises with the frame was getting too big, and re-building most of it will solve all of them in one go and enable the whole thing to be better integrated.

    just finished #75101
it a nice model but with the wings being the same you have to repeat the build or build both wings at the same time.
    still it looks good. :)

^ was the same with 10212 for me, quickly reading over the manual before building allows to spot those shortcuts though

    ^That is very impressive!

I assume that you've got a substantial amount of track, or does it look like Ouroboros, going round and round? ;-)

Edited to add: I must ask... Do you have a specific plan for such a long train, or is it just "because"? :-)
  • chrisalddinchrisalddin Member Posts: 3,041
and here is the reason i fear picking up a lego train set.
i would not know ware to stop.
and i just don't have the room. you need...? (what is the smallest space you need for a layout any how?)
i will probably end up getting a train set at some point. i just hope it don't spend all its life packed away never to be seen. like my Hornby Trains do.

well i will roundup what i built today in this post.
over the past 10 hours or so. i have built up #70313 and #75092.
with the #75101 i have done three sets today. with brakes here and there. i have not been building non stop. i did other stuff to. stuff like eat food. :p

what i think of each set. i already commented on #75101 today but i say again, i like it quite a bit.

set #70313 was a bit of a surprise, in that ok i had seen the images on the web but with this set i don't think the posted images you can find on the web do it justest. this set is small yes, but its a fun build. and i think Fits in with the bad guy theme well. i have to admit i spent 10 mins just rolling it along to watch the moving play action at work. relay happy with this set.

next and last is set #75092 and i have to say this set is just WOW!
with all the little parts you get in this set i am very happy whit this set.
the ship is not small. it on par with the Tie. and makes my AAT's i pick up last week look small. the 5 Droids will go well with the Droids i got in my AAT's and i am building My Droids Army faster then i expected to. still a long way to go.
but i still don't see the point of 5000 minifig clones army.
    and i at last have a R2-D2. still need a C3-PO.

in all i had a fun day.

At a rough estimate, I have about 100m of straight track. That's not including curves, of which I actually don't know how much I have. When I displayed at Brick 2015, I had 7m x 3m of space.

The plan is to run it on a large layout like that at shows, but yes, it was also just 'because' :)

I'm also working on another train, which will be even longer.

It's just taken me four hours to re-build the underlying frame of my model of Rey's Speeder. All the issues I had with it are now fixed :) It seems rather heavier than before though...

Oh and I've almost run out of black technic pins.
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101
^ You know, your Rey's Speeder should be over in the Brickset Builders Guild since it is a true MOC. I consider this thread to be the place for all of us set building hacks to display their skills (or lack there of)!

@ecmo47 that metroliner looks sick...unf im not going down the dark side/path of lego trains :)
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,352
I had HO trains but never really got into it, so I'm not interested in LEGO trains either.

Finally got started on #41100 Heartlake Private Jet. Only ever had small LEGO planes before. the large front/back pieces really add to the look. the metal detectors are a rather realistic feature - what's next, LEGO cops profiling dark plastic minis?

Yeah, my builds often end up smaller than expected.
Tell us how you really feel about Jar Jar. :)

just got done with #70317 The Fortrex.
turned out to be about 6% smaller then i had imaging it to be.
one sticker 1% out of line one of the bigger ones. but if you did not know your not going to see it with out taking a long long look at it.
i on the other had having placed the dam thing. know about it so can see it.
its a good model and a fun build. even had some parts i not seen before, but found out have been around for 15 years.

Not too bad as compared to the 'vintage' engine from the Fire Brigade.
