Possible Daily Mail 2016 polybag sets?

richardkrichardk Member Posts: 14
edited May 2016 in Everything else LEGO
Will be 9 in total. The day each set will come out is to be confirmed. But not 2 difficult to work out the weekend sets. May 21st - 29th

Starwars Kylo ren 30275
City min dumper 30348
Superheroes The batmobile 30446
Knights cycle 30371
Starwars Poe X-wing 30278
Friends Cupcake stall 30396
City sports car 30349
Superheroes Cosmic boy 30604
Ninjas Skybound plane 30421

I'm happy with the range epecially Cosmic boy and the Force awakens sets although I'd of preferred a jurassic world set to replace one of the city sets but I'm being greedy.

What's your source for this? Sounds an interesting line up but I thought Cosmic Boy was going to be included with the Cosmic Clash blu ray.
  • richardkrichardk Member Posts: 14
I know right, I thought the same. I'd rather keep the source to myself but I will say the source doesn't work for Lego if that helps. Now there is a chance that this could be the  agreed list and that one or 2 may change but if the Mail are happy then I expect this list to be very accurate indeed.

OK well thanks for posting your info but it seems rather vague so I'm going to remain a bit sceptical for now,  sorry!
And May is so far off! Do we usually find out these promos so far in advance?
  • richardkrichardk Member Posts: 14
Yer that's fair and I get that. This could of just been a draft that I saw. Obviously I am not part of the sign off process between lego and the mail but I think the list is quite feasible. Although I do think Cosmic May is possibly unlikely. Anyway I'm eager to see how accurate it is and no they are usually announced no more than a month before

That and 'Kylo Ren' is not set #30275.. that is the advance tie Prototype I believe.
AS for Cosmic boy.. it is a bit strange but he does have that number in the DB. Now, I'm not in the UK so maybe someone else could verify this, but in the threads I have seen for these in the past I have not seen give away figures in these promos, have they?

Once again  I will need someone's help acquiring  these!

This may be the list, but to be honest the title of 'sets announced' is a tad misleading, can we not rename it to 'potential list', as @richardk has stated "there is a 'chance' this could be the agreed list.

Ahh, OK. Thanks. However, aren't those 'sets' though? Isn't the Cosmic boy a stand alone figure in a bag?

Yea but the # for Cosmic Boy puts it in the same league as the common ones, unlike the other 500XXXX polys. Really tho that's not a good differentiator, but its only thing I can think of that qualifies it for this list.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
Yeah, will be interesting as I think it would also be the first figure that was a promo for a movie to be released as a polybag for general purchase.

The new Finn minifigure #30605 has a number close to Cosmic Boy and that is supposed to come with the new SW video game. I think Lego probably have a new numbering system instead of the old long 5xxxxxx numbers. The chances of Cosmic Boy being in the paper are close to none.

Too bad this is a UK exclusive, and involves dealing with a paper you might not agree with.

The old 5xxxxxx number system is still alive and well for 2016:

Seems strange to get this info so far in advance, might it be an Easter promo, making it the end of March which seems a more plausible timeline .

Apologies #30275 was a typo and should have been #30279. Ren does appear in the list I saw

Really looking forward to Poe's xwing. Lovely model and they seemed to only be in store for a week before they all sold out.

Cosmic Boy seems an odd choice for a giveaway. Only thing I can think of is they sent an order for 1000 to the factory and someone set the machine up for 10000! :)

Well if you have friends in the UK it is simple to arrange a trade for items that are USA exclusives. As to the paper, it has been done to death. The Daily Mail has the second largest circulation in the UK, so it gets the Lego to a large portion of the public. They used to deal with the No. 1 paper but ended that agreement, possibly after bad publicity about distributing toys with a paper that shows topless women. If people really don't agree with the politics of the newspaper, then they can go without or suck it up. They don't have to read it, just buy it and increase their circulation that day.

This isn't something that I've done before. What's the deal? Can you go to any newsagent and pick up a DM + polybag, or is it only certain ones, such as WHS, or do you send off a coupon?

You can pick up the paper anywhere, but can only get the poly at WHSmith (and ToysRUs I believe) or try to post it in but not 100% successful apparently. On days with a high demand poly get there early as they often run out of polys quickly.

The brick fan had a blog about Cosmic Boy Polybag possibly being used in a giveaway. Don't know how relevant that is to the Daily Mail / Cosmic Boy potential giveaway but here is the link -

    @chrisalddin
    Buy the Paper
    Cut out the voucher
pop into what ever store is doing the promo
    give them the voucher
    get Lego

just one Voucher then. that's good.
i had fears that it was something like, 5 Vouchers for 1 polybag.
The Sun have done this in the past. Monday to Friday Voucher 1 to 5 before you can clame what ever freebie it was for.
are there limits on the numbers you can clame?
like if you buy 10 copys of the same paper can you clame 10 of that polybag?
  • paul_mertonpaul_merton Member Posts: 2,967
Quite a lot of stores will impose a seemingly-arbitrary limit, but judging from eBay, some people manage to get hundreds!

Not when they did Lego giveaways. It was one voucher per poly.

    ^Even before the promotion begins!...

As with others, Cosmic Boy feels unlikely if he's also part of the dvd promo, and being a single fig rather than a build as well.

But I wouldn't complain if he was part of the giveaway.

Well it looks as though you got this completely wrong. One correct out of nine, and you didn't even get the correct number of sets. Or the correct dates.

If I were being cynical, I'd say you simply guessed... ;)
