I think I am going to need a better look at the House alternate build for the RV set (31052) before I decide if I want to get it or not. Same thing for the treehouse (31053), I was hoping it would be a little bigger.  I am however really liking the Friends Horse Riding Club set (41126), I think I am going to get one of those to MOC for my winter village set. Also definitely getting the Fun at the Part set, maybe two depending on the cost.

The Friends sets are sucking me in... love the Hot Dog Stand more and more, piqued by the Horse Riding Club (might just want to nab the horse).

Definitely going to need to see more of Belle's Castle... managed to resist the Frozen sets, but B&B is so much more nostalgic for me.

And really thrilled about the new Mixels. I have then all up to now, they're just goofy and fun stress-relief builds... but the tribes were getting old. Loving how the Castle, Pirate, Ninja tribes and the Law Enforcement, Fire Department, Road Department (? I feel like I see dumpster, street sweeper, shovels...) tribes all play off each other. Then there's a band tribe, looks like a TV tribe, and of course, the healthcare tribe... all looking so awesome. I might be alone in my Mixel love, but I don't care! :D

My interest in LEGO must be waning because I just don't see much that interests me among these new sets. The Creator RV looks like a nice set with good alternate builds, but otherwise... meh.
I think what is making me worry is the price more than the sets. I like the creator sets (though will probably be pricey), and some of the new Airplane theme (though I think the Airport, guessing likely at 119.99 USD -unless that will be the price point for that air show with the hanger- and Cargo plane, guessing likely 49.99 USD will likely be a bit overpriced for my money if they are those prices). I really like the new park scene, but have a feeling that could be 39.99-49.99 USD as well due to all the figures (and the prices of the previous figure packs that LEGO put out). I hope Im wrong about the prices, but something tells me Im not. The good news is they all appear to be non-exclusive which means they will all likley be on sale at one point or another.

Thanks @chrisalddin that's just what I wanted! Still missing a bumper cars pic though ;-)

Really really glad to get a proper look at Beauty and the Beast.  I think the characters look fab,  even Beast which must have been so difficult.  Belle's dress looks brilliant and so does that new hairpiece, and Cogsworth, Lumière and Wardrobe are fantastic! Cogsworth especially is spot on. Can't really see close enough for the detail on Chip and Mrs Potts.  I guess my cryptic note of "lavender" for the castle walls was right but I just couldn't remember! The castle is nothing spesh though it has a few nice details.  It's all about the characters on this one.

from what i have seen so far the bumper cars set is missing from all images.
it may be exclusive to some toy shop and there for not on display.

also i had no idea about there even being a bumper cars set.

I'm really digging the elves sets. that dragon, and that castle.
nice stuff in nexo knights too, I'm surprised I like the 2 bigs 6 wheeled vehicles and the castle looks big and unique.
Not sure on ninjago, the dragon looks unique, but I'm not sure how much I like it. Displaying the tower open doesn't do it justice, it seems to look way better on the box artwork.

don't really care about the rest, except maybe the RV. the fact that it rebuilds into totally different models is a bonus.

oh yeah, though I usually don't care much about minecraft, the fortress is seriously underwhelming. the walls are like 4 bricks high? too bad because it's got an interesting style otherwise.

In looking at the Disney Set, I have no doubt that the Disney CMFs are all going to be moulded heads.  Frankly, I think a pure minifigure style line of CMFs would look very odd.

Makes me worried about a minidoll making its first appearance in the CMF line...

^rather hoping the Disney series is more like the Simpson's line with special moulded heads as opposed to the mini doll.

Agreed!  But I don't know how they are going to include any Princesses without necessarily making them minidolls.
  • bandit778bandit778 Member Posts: 2,372
I know what you mean but as they are more or less covered in the mini dolls I would like to think that the minifig line would be based around the base characters ( Mickey, Donald etc) to give us something different. I must admit I haven't looked into them that much as there is so much I want to get before they come out I'm trying to ignore future sets /lines so my bank account doesn't have a seizure.

Regular minifig headgear has been leaked already that looks like Disney.

I'm delighted about the character with the wheelchair in the park set; ditto the baby!

Seeing the photos of the volcano sets was a rollercoaster (sorry) of emotion - first, "WHOA! I NEED THAT!" swiftly followed by, "Oh, so that's just a display volcano and the one you actually get is... well." At least my bank balance will thank me for skipping that set! And I kind of want to try building a more impressive one myself...

The Bucket Wheel Excavator is a huge ugly-beautiful monster and I want it fiercely.

Nice-looking Creator sets, too - was disappointed that the lighthouse isn't bigger, but then it'd just be a copy of the one I didn't have the sense to buy when it came out. Hopefully I can get both it and the moose lodge.

I don't think the volcano that comes in the volcano research set is bad. To be honest I half expected it to be shorter. As it is, it's a bit narrow at the base for how tall it is, but otherwise looks pretty good.

The display volcano they had built from basic bricks as a backdrop makes for a good display, but not a good toy. Building a thing like that would be extremely repetitive, and once you have it built it would just be heavy and awkward. The one built from mountain bricks is not flawless, but I'm glad they found a way to include a whole volcanic crater at all and not just a small lava floe to suggest a volcanic setting.

As expected, the sets I'm most excited for are the Ninjago, Elves, and Nexo Knights sets. The Bionicle sets have some nifty techniques but Umarak the Destroyer is the only one that really "wows" me in the summer wave. In general I'm more drawn to heroes than villains, and I'm not sure what to make of the new Ekimu. I am VERY excited for the upcoming Bionicle Netflix series, though!

I think the volcano sets just gives those a use for all of the basic brick they have in their possession already to make a large volcano

Love the volcano research sets, and will need the gas station, airport, and park.

Ninjago is doing noooothing for me this time. And Nexo Knights, I only want Axl's Tower Carrier.

Ill get the Lava and Storm beasts from Bionicle, and omigosh I need the Technic Porsche!

I hope not. It's like the prince is just wearing a mask/helmet and cosplaying as his previous self lol Hopefully/most likely that head/headpiece is minifig compatible, and the character assortment from that set looks great.

@LostInTranslation there was a lighthouse in the latest fire fighters sets... It's a rather small one though, but it is one! Don't forget the Whitecap Bay from PotC!

Thanks guys. 70594 doesn't really look like a lighthouse to me, so won't get included.

I'm really glad to see so many people loving the City Park set as much as me. I just hope it sells well because Lego won't keep producing minifigure packs unless we vote with our wallets!

if it is 19.99 or 24.99 then i will buy it.
more then i can not bring my self to pay that high.

    re #70594
hmm i can see it as a lighthouse. it has a light at the top! :) a real light to :)
if you look at the displa model it dont look like one, if you look at the Box art it do.
it open's and the display is opened up so that is why.

I was told £34.99 for the park set.  Which for 14 minifigs, a new baby, a moulded animal,  a new moulded wheelchair part and a few minibuilds is not really bad value, when one collectible minifigure is £2.49.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,540
I am actually quite impressed with the City Gas Station. Could've done without the tow truck but the building itself is bigger than expected and quite sharp looking. At least they tiled the space under the awning as well. Not a baseplate but better than empty space. The dark red car looks really good too. Not a convertible and better rims than the standard ones.

But the CMF line all have more accessories, and other than the pieces you mentioned the minifigs are pretty ordinary.  I already have lots of 'ordinary' looking minifigs and £35 for a wheelchair and a baby is a bit hard to swallow.
Having said that, it will be less than that at retail, I would scoop it up at 1/3 off.  I'm excited about it because we will get to see the baby and wheelchair etc. turning up in the other city sets from this time next year (I guess), which is awesome!

  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
They're ordinary but have new or different torso designs and some new or rare hairpieces.  It's good to have variety. And they do come with accessories - I can see a paint roller,  hotdog, ball, briefcase,  baby bottle, hand bag,  a couple of food items.  I'd say each minifig with one of those accessories is worth £1.50. Then there's the baby, dog, wheelchair, pushchair, bench, bus stop, hot dog cart, goal, picnic table, bike, fence and roundabout.

@brumey I have that Dolphin Point set :-) It's really simple and small though.
While we're discussing lighthouses don't forget Pirates of the Caribbean Whitecap Bay #4194! It's sort of a lighthouse.

seeing as i view £2.49 a lot to pay for a minifig.
£34.99. is on the high side.
as it is, if i see it for under £25 i may pick it up.
it will be on my watch list.

^that's not a lot to pay for a minifigure. This is a lot to pay for a minifigure.
    (I've played minifigure-minifigure before)

And to @LostInTranslation - don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic set, but I have too much population for my modular street as it is, there is stuff I want in there but too much would be left in the packet to make it worth it at full price.
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,260
£35 for the minifigures?!? Blimey! I think I'll just bricklink the baby and wheelchair...
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,460
Let's be fair if the park set is £35 RRP we all know that we are likely to be able to get it for less. It seems to me that LEGO might have priced it based on CMF pricing, remember that they need the price to be right for parents/grandparents etc more than AFOLs so pricing it based on CMFs is probably pretty logical. I'll almost certainly pick up a copy to populate my Winter Village, but definitely wait for a good price.

I paid full price for #10686 Family House last year just for the new minifigure elements so £34.99 is well worth it from my point of view. The babyfig and wheelchair are bonuses!

  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572

Maybe I just get more excited than others about new torso prints and hairpieces than some of you guys, but I will certainly be buying this - maybe even day one - and then multiples if it does get reduced.

@Capnrex101 - I too have two of that set for the minifigure elements. When you look at other City sets and CMFs you actually don't find many regular "everyday" non-uniform outfits for civilians to wear.

    brumeyBumblepantsbandit778catwrangler
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,460
The one thing that really stops me thinking of it as good value is the knowledge that while those prints are new/rare now they are likely to be used in a lot of City/Creator sets for a long time to come now meaning that they will only become more and more common and theoretically less and less valuable (to me personally) as a result.
#10686 is actually a good comparison, already one of those unique torso prints has been used for the Brick Bank, I would expect the others to show up in other sets eventually too. Whereas CMF prints tend to stay unique to that figure, some of them might be generic or have very similar prints elsewhere, but its still unique parts.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,460
^As an addition to that, I'm actually curious to see if the wheelchair shows up in any other sets, given LEGO's love of vehicles could a wheelchair friendly minivan be in the works and how well would such a vehicle fit with other city vehicles-given the needed width. Add the crutches from the Clumsy guy CMF and set #60116 perhaps we might see a Hospital sub theme of City in the not so distant future, which would make a nice change.

^and that'll be out well before the park set EOLs, so got to be worth waiting to see at least.  Wonder if we will get a wheelchair in a CMF ever - physics professor (or some other not very subtle link to xmen or Stephen Hawkins).  Would be the easiest feeling job ever.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572

I think there are too many parts for a wheelchair in a CMF, but that it will show up in other places.  I also think a hospital City subtheme next year is pretty likely - as I commented on a news article that's been deleted, the last ambulance and medical centre was in 2012, so 5 years gap by next year.

I see what you're saying about the park minifigure parts popping up in other sets, but personally I'm happy to get a single set with a good selection. I was specifically told at the toy fair that this set was in response to customer feedback but that there was a bit of concern about how the set would sell, compared to a build-based set of the same price/ box size. Hence my hopes that all the people who requested this kind of set actually buy it or we probably won't see its like again.
