AND
do people actually hoard fabuland and belleville ?
was not belleville like 90's?
or was it 80's?
and not very popular. so i think it is Rear?
and i dont even know what fabuland is.
Fabuland was fairly successful in Europe but never really caught on in North America. On some levels it was ahead of its time from a media standpoint, with a character-driven story told through picture books and animated adventures on videocassette. A lot of AFOLs seem oddly fond of Fabuland compared to other themes aimed at the same age range, possibly due to its cutesy cartoon aesthetic.
^ I'm "oddly fond" of it entirely due to my age. I'm 36 and was at just the right age to enjoy it when it came out. But, like I said, I only ever got 2 sets and I won't be buying more. But I do like to reminisce about it from time to time.
i am happy that i have some Nexo Knights sets to build.
good thing to i was running out of non Mixels set's to build.
1 look at bricklink today and prices have gone up a bit!
#60115 (4x4 Off-Roader)
#60116 (Ambulance Plane)
#60128 (Police Pursuit) (listed on Lego site $24.99, but whatever)
#70313 (Moltor's Lava Smasher)
#70312 (Lance's Mecha Horse)
rare reduction and has since made all the Argos stock disappear
#60091 Deep Sea Starter - New bath toy for the kids -added just to qualify for free shipping
#76034 Batboat Harbor - Too bad this one doesn't float. Truth is I mostly bought it for Deathstroke who I have loved since I first read Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans. I wanted to make sure I got it before it was suddenly retired.
#60083 Snowplow - I live in a northern climate. You usually don't see these made. I would also kill for a Lego zamboni.
#60073 Service Truck - My kids loved the idea of a guy stuck in a port-o-potty
#60076 - Demolition Site - Love the big crane
#60072 - Demolition starter - It comes with a toilet. Did I mention I have 3 small boys?
#21108 - Ecto-1 - Found one of the few left at retail. They are gone everywhere now, which doesn't make sense. Lego has just released the GBHQ so shouldn't they keep the Ecto-1 around for people who now want it to park in the HQ? I just don't get Lego the company sometimes.
Ecto-1 is a Ideas set.
as far as i can tell all Ideas set's are limited in the number that are made.
this is just my view in this but to me lego seem to View all ideas set's as way's to keep AFOL happy. i could not start to guess why set numbers made are limited.
i can say that in the new catalog all 3 ideas sets are marked up as limited.
This is why as soon as the new stock of Wall-e turns up on Shop@home and i have the cash, i am getting one. it is also why as soon as i found out about the Ghostbuster Firehouse HQ, back in November, Ecto-1 was the 1st set i got. there was no oh i wait for the HQ, it was i know this well not be around long lets get it Now.
port-o-potty is just awesome! and broken toilet is boss
If the LEGO Group has really stopped making Ecto-1 sets for good, then that probably means demand for it has started to peter out. But to me it seems more likely that the demand ramped up in response to the Firehouse Headquarters set, and thus the LEGO Group ran through their existing supply faster than they could make more. Presently, the GB site reads "Out of stock, expected ship date 29 Jan 2016", which suggests they WILL be getting more in, and the US site still says "Available Now".
