Well, it's not much after the glorious haul above, but I did just find the Harry Potter Hogwarts game for a fiver in a local charity shop - no dice, but I can always rejig the one from Minotaurus!
I got that Hogwarts complete the other day as well for £5.99! Charity shops can be great.

Last weekend I picked up a large tote filled with lego, and unfortunately some MB and other clone brands.  This is what I am not keeping.   There were three Dino sets, Triceratops, raptor, and the little one.   Plus Monster Fighters Crazy Scientist set and Starwars Rogue Shadow set that I kept.

I don't do bulk lego lots too often, but this one was worth my time.

So I paid 200$ for the entire lot.  After keeping the the 5 sets for myself, I just sold what is pictured above for 300$.  I think it was a good score.

Just picked up reys speeder for $5.97 at Costco Canada. Must have been a Christmas return. I'll take 76% off a new release set anytime.

Not a good deal, but after 4 days of searching and visiting 7 different shops, I finally found some Series 15 Animal Control Officers. Still looking for Farmers, Queens, and Shark Guys.

Oh and this is my first post by the way :)

I was going to ask about this 'used' Lego, what's the best way to clean it? That's what's put me off buying it before.
    Welcome!
I clean a ton (probably over a hundred thousand) parts a year, so here are a few tips:
    1. Use a drain cover to keep any little parts from being lost.
    2. Don't try to wash too much at once, or the parts won't be very clean.
    3. Use a salad spinner to speed up drying time.

Awesome haul!  I'm wondering how you search for lots like these on Ebay.  Seems every time I look for Lego lots on Ebay I just get generic listings from resellers with piles of bricks by the lb, or even worse, generic legos.  Appreciate any search tips you can share.
I don't really have any tips, I just tend to search for mixed lego or job lots. Like you say many instances are by weight and are very hit and miss. I think this instance was as much luck as good judgment but what was key to the price at least was:

    1. Only 1 picture, which showed very little other a big sack of lego BUT did include the box for the Fire Temple which would have probably been a good price in itself. Non of the other box's or instructions were shown in the picture

    2. This was local collection only and was a 4hr round trip for me. So be prepared to travel. While this takes a lot of time, and could be costly in fuel, its zero cost for me as I have company car with fuel paid.

    3. I got lucky with communications - I contacted seller to enquire if they knew what sets were likely included and they sent me a pretty extensive list, which gave me a good idea of what I was bidding on. I'm pretty sure most sellers would not have been so detailed.

    4. When I arrived to collect the very nice lady said she had found some more boxes which she threw in :) i.e. #9470 was never mentioned and turned out to be a sealed set.

I was actually surprised at how little this went for and was prepared to go a good deal higher. Tuned out I was only bidding against two other bidders, presumably because of location. Interestingly location usually goes against me :)

    Hope this helps.
I was watching this lot as well. Just big black bin bag in left corner and ninjago box on right and books in middle. Did not bid in the end as was collection only and will be like 6 hours trip there and back. Lucky you.

I stuck a load in a mesh bag and put it through the washing machine and then the tumble dryer. Came out great. The load I stuck in the dishwasher didn't come out very clean at all (my first experiment). I rarely buy second hand lego as can never find a bargain. I have never even seen a listing like the one above never mind won it! Amazing find.

Seems like charity shops are worth a shot. I'm off work tomorrow so may have a wander. Not seen any mega bargains on eBay or Gumtree yet (though that Mini Cooper for £60 was Gumtree and not eBay, that was my mistake.

Thanks for the tips on cleaning second-hand Lego, too. I'll have to plumb the dishwasher back in... ha!

try to build up a friend ship with the shop working in the charity,
and ask them when they get any lego to save it for you, or even give you a call.
but this is a long term plan

i know this plan work's as, some years ago (10+ years) there was a computer shop in my town (family run shop) and the son of the owner worked out of that outlet of the 5 shop business,
over about 2 to 4 months i became friend with him, this got me discounts not big discounts but a normal about £5 of small items and £10 big items, and some time up to £20 all coming down to what the mark up was.. i also help out for free ever now and then, with little things he A did not have time for or B just did not know what to do. ( the 1st one more then the later one.)

this was when computers was jumping in power with new stuff coming out all the time.

i would do this today, with the charity shops in our town we have 7, if, not 10 of them.
however. i just not up to the trip's in to town that world need. today's trip had massed up my leg's and are now killing me...

and bonus you make new friends

In January 1991 in Los Angeles, it was raining cats and dogs and coyotes!
I went to a local Target store to get something or other and saw someone walk by with a shopping cart/trolley/caddy FULL of LEGO sets!
I asked him what was going on, he said there was a lot of cool stuff on clearance.
HE WAS NOT KIDDING! Good thing I had some money on me!
    I grabbed the following:

    - 6399 Airport Shuttle (monorail): $60 USD (down from $140)
    - 5590 Whirl And Wheel Super Truck (Model Team): $30 USD (down from $80)
    - 6989 Mega Core Magnetizer (M-Tron): $30 USD (down in from $60)

I probably snagged some other smaller sets, but these are the ones I remember vividly.
The next day, I went back and made off with the last 6399 Airport Shuttle. It had been marked down further to $30!!!! O_O
These deals were probably the best ones I've ever gotten.

Just ordered a Series 1 Microfighter Star Destroyer #75033 from TRU for $9.  Dunno how they still had any.  Pretty psyched since I only have 1 built and this is one of the better microfighters IMO.

A box of used lego got donated to my school, so I asked if I could have a quick look through it before we gave it to the kids....digging through most of it, there were lots of incomplete minifigures...found a few animals, I love lego animals...then dig dig dig a bit more and  I found.....A goat!!! Probably not that exciting to most people but I am over the moon! :-)

I'd advise checking the price on a LEGO goat... Most people would find that exiting. :-)

@kioko21 - I'm a Lego animal collector and a goat would make me very happy. Then it's value would make me a little bit happier.

Around new year I noticed a never-opened @5764 Rescue Robot in a local charity shop. I had fancied it on original release and was tempted by the light brick, but the whole thing was a pound over the original RRP and it had just been Christmas, etc. etc... well, I went back a couple of days ago and got it, and I am so happy I did. I wouldn't say the light brick is worth the price of the whole thing, but it's going to be extensively used - first, to light up the forge in @10193...

just found and picked up, a #60044 Mobile Police Unit,
    for £19.99 from Sainsburys.

i had been looking at this when lego had it on sale for £24 or there about.
but decided it was still to high.
at £19.99 it just about right for me.

That's so incredibly low. That's like prices during the mid-90's. All the while I hate California laws, it forces us to buy gas within our state only. We've been paying $3.00/gallon this whole time while the rest of the country is paying ~$2.00/gal.

Filled up at $1.59 last week. Low gas prices are great, but the stock market sure has suffered as a result (in tandem with China, etc)

    Try living in the UK....

Petrol is currently around 99.9p/litre and that's the cheapest it's been for several years, which works out at about £4.54 gallon or $6.47 US (assuming the Google currency converter is moderately accurate!).

Went clearance hunting at a couple targets today.  Found #76000 for $9.99 and scored a City Square for $80. It was marked down to 94 and they gave me an extra 20% off since the box was opened.  I checked it out and It's complete.

The USD per gallon is a different Gallon. Metric gallon is 4 litres whereas imperial gallon is only 3.83 Litres. (Why I don't know can't we all just use the same system! Lol)

So £3.83 per gallon or $5.39 USD . which roughly translates to terribly expensive! We're in the middle up here in Canada so I'm not going to complain.

Here in Montreal, we finally past the 1$/litre mark! It's been quite a long time since gas was that cheap here. That translates roughly into $3.80CAD/gallon or $2.65USD/gallon or £1.84/gallon or £0.48/litre. It's not that bad here in the northern cold, even in a big city. The only problem is that almost all of our economy relies on petrol ;)

Stopped by a shady Walmart looking for a SpacePort or City Square on Clearance.... Went down the clearance aisle and picked up 3 Ewok Attacks (gone for almost 4 years) for $17 each and a Helicopter Rescue (gone for 2 years) for $29. I passed up a ton of Hero Factory sets ($10ish) and the Construct a Zerg (which I had never seen in person).

Those sets are so old, you may still be eligible to win a chrome C-3PO!

Nothing crazy, but it was a snowy morning so I hit up two Targets. Originally in search for Series 15 CMFs (DCPI Inventory checker had 400+ at these two locations, but I had no luck)

I did snag a few clearance deals, though.

    #31015 Emerald Express for $2.54
#10679 Pirate Treasure Hunt for $4.98

Picked up Poe's X-Wing Poly, and Tie Fighter poly as well. Also found a box of Series 13 CMFs, but they were ringing up for 4.89. Snagged a hot dog man anyway. The DCPI on them was 204-00-0261 for those interested.

Last week I listed a great haul of Lego I got for £55. Well in amongst it were a very few random Duplo pieces. Of these I just sold 4 horses for £24 +shipping and a car for £2.50 +shipping. So I've made half my outlay back in just 5 pieces.  - Oh and on opening #2507 I found another two sets #2518 & #2263

For the equivalent of USD $140, I picked up two large bins and four smaller bins of used Lego in a bulk sale.  I could tell the Lego was clean but missing most of the figs.  The other issue was that literally every part was separated so figuring out what sets were included would take a while.  I'm almost finished the sorting and have found 37 regular sets plus another 32 Bionicle sets.  Half the figs missing but 95% of the parts are there.  A real mixed bag of themes and sets.  Most sets are in the 200-300 part range but there is also 9450 Epic Dragon Battle (884 parts), 7676 Republic Attack Gunship (1,004) and the Battle of Endor (842).  One of my better bulk purchases.

Got them shipped from the seller for $8 and missed #7779 by 20,seconds for another 2 dollars because I don't pay attention. #7250 is like 14 and the other set appears to Also be complete but I figured for $2 it couldn't hurt.

A few days ago I went to the Lego store near me and bought over £500's worth of sets. After spending just under an hour in the store, I managed to find all of the new series of Lego mini figures other than one. Tonight I was in asda and upon feeling the first packet out of a full box, I managed to get the one I wanted; the odds for me finding the figure upon a first feel impressed me. :-D

Borrowed a library copy of The LEGO Movie - does that count?

#70778 Protector of Jungle and 7 #70779 Protector of Stone for $4.92 each instead of $9.99
The Jungle box was opened and one of the Stone boxes was damaged but both had all the pieces.

    PS
I save lots of money on gas by riding a bicycle. :)
