Hoth is an ice planet, surely it's just a normal village ;)

Words will never EVER describe the Lego Chima #70221. The breathtaking minifigures with wings will forever change my hobby of building Legos for the long time. The set is hard to build, but worth the effort into building into a set known as Flinx's Ultimate Phoenix!

I thought that it would be an abandoned project due to the set close to sold out, but catching my eye, I decided to purchase the set after getting out of work. Thank goodness I completed the building of the set before it was sold out.

and 10218. Pet Shop, is done.
in all toke me 2 days 4 hours each day, this is not counting the time used to setup or record video for the speed build,

i can see why other turn making speed build videos in to a job, editing them takes a lot of time,

watch out on my youtube channel for the 2nd 3rd and 4th parts of the build over the next week or so.   just look up "chrisalddin" on youtube and you will find me.

Built the Brick Bank this evening. Some neat techniques in there, but this need to add a story line and play theme to the Modulars is starting to grate.

it just seems kinda poorly done, with that random hole in the roof which look totally out of place. morever it runs along the safe, the security is pretty dismal here.

@ricecake it is nearly half a meter tall and, now that the elf on the shelf has left us for another year, I've been using it as a deterrent for misbehavior. I was going to tell the kids it would eat them if they were bad but my wife didn't let me!

^ Worryingly, my kids recognised it as I pieced it together last week.  "It's the monster that's got a smaller mouth inside his main mouth.  It comes out.  Yeahhhhh."  Me, "How?  How do you know that?"  Response, " It's on the intro to a youtube channel for Minecraft and Splatoon."  WTF??

Tell you what, my heart only stopped once when I looked up to find he had, as the instructions requested, turned it over to rest the chrome bits flat down on the table as he pushed down on it to mount other pieces to its belly.  He did really well.  Unfortunately he now wants to open the sealed Podracer set, "'cause that's the one Anakin drove"

You mean... the chimney? I wouldn't think of that as a random hole...

Taking advantage of the calm winter months I'm currently putting aside some other long term LEGO projects and tackling a LEGO wildfire lookout tower, modeled upon the one I was stationed at for a while this summer!

oh, that's the 1st floor chimney. not obvious from the pics. still, having the safe next to it doesn't seem like a good idea. well, having it next to a laundromat neither, but I know it's for the joke.
  • JetWing34JetWing34 Member Posts: 38
Just when you think #21119 is so easy a caveman could do it, think again. Bag 2, a lot of work! Ugh! Why didn't Lego make three bags?

Spent the last two days building 75827  and 10251 both great, and very different builds. Yes, I could have waited until the next AFOL day, or until an offer elsewhere, but life is short and it would be rude not to have bought the Firehouse whilst we were in the queue at the store! The bank is excellent with numerous clever designs, and the firehouse is a challenge, and I love the fireman's pole, although I am having to do a few changes to get the Ecto One to fit in!

Having built it, my children love the way that the "criminal" can slide down the chimney in the style of Mission Impossible into the safe. Although I agree, not the sort of bank I would keep my money in!

Spent a few hours today on #75827 and built bags 1-4. And all I've got to show for it is the ground floor. Looks like they've gone for the "why use 1 piece when 2 will do" approach in several places. Gives a big piece count, I suppose.

Just picked up and built today:

    76044 Clash of Heroes
    75131 Resistance Battle Pack
    75132 First Order Battle Pack

I picked up 2 First Order packs because my kids can't get enough stormtroopers. I'm thinking of modding the cannon which is just a stud shooter and turning it into a set of turbo lasers.

Well, took a total rebuild of his torso, head, arms and feet - managed to salvage his legs and tail.  Found that I was missing a 2x1 black plate  overall.  No idea from where but I reckon it must have been the cause of the collapse.  Well, that and my bloody dog!  2x1 added and dog banished.  I'm waiting until it's not the early hours of the morning before I attempt to stand him up again.

Joking aside, the problem is with its feet.  The joints between its heel and front of the foot aren't staggered and where the axle poking up from the base extends into the bottom of the feet to prevent the legs spreading, if the the alien's head so much as moves 10mm forward or backward (which isn't a lot given its height), the axle prises the foot apart and BAM, you have no more alien.  It would be nice to find a way of incorporating at least one staggered joint or a corner brick that wraps around the back of the foot without losing the detail or possibly more studs to provide more clutch.  I can see one area to bring in an extra stud but I don't think it will make much of a difference.  My friend suggested Kragle to me last night, just on its heels but I just can't bring myself to do it.
