Finished the first part, @bandit778 , so now I have a little more space on the table :)

^That building has a pin on the side... It's a modular! Can we replace MS with it?

@kiki180703 - The doors and white panels are by far the worst things, although I didn't realize that turntable base was so rare.

The panels are the most painful thing, largely due to scarcity. You pretty much have to find someone parting out a CC to get the 20 you need to build the set. I ended up just subbing 87544 when I did mine a few years ago. The thought of buying them 1-2 at a time and paying for the shipping was just too much for me to handle.

The panels and the bley door are the only non-accurate things on my copy. Good on you @jadedanc for having the patience to go 100% original parts.

@kiki180703 - nice to see they are getting a little easier to find. When I did mine, there were barely any available. I think, at the time, there were just enough posted in different stores that I barely even had the option of using them if I wanted to.

Finally opened up my Medieval Market Village. Why doesn't the tan building have any stairs or ladders for the minifigs to access the upper floor? Are they supposed to rappel in through the windows?

Just finished building #11910 Micro-Scale Space Cruiser - It's dead cute and a really good representation of #928 on a tiny scale. Love it!
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
@JudgeChuck thought the #11910 was a nice build, my only real gripes are that they didn't make 1x2 trans-yellow cheese slopes for it & that they didn't use blue lever bases with light bluish-grey levers to present the antennas.

@VorpalRyu yes, I agree in part, but it's still really nice! :-)

I wouldn't have expected TLG to make any new parts for what is likely a very limited run set.
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
@JudgeChuck, true, I just wish TLG would start making a few 1x2 cheese slopes in trans colours.

@samiam391 absolutely beautiful, wasnt expecting that when looking at all the bricks sorted out :)

@samiam391 It looks beautiful! Did you base it on this?

  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^Yes, I made a few changes of my own, but kept most of the original design. It's an exceptional model when viewed in person, pictures truly don't do it justice!

@samiam391 Just out of curiosity, how much did the instructions cost?
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^22 EUR or 25 USD. If you (or anyone) would like more information on the model- expensive parts, some of the changes I made, cost of the project- feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to help.

Well, I've been making a helicopter out of the Lego Creator #31029. Not easy though.

That is a really impressive build in a short space of time.
    I tip my hat sir.

I just finished with the "new" Winter Toy Shop. I'm quite impressed by it, it's really cute yet really complicated and fun.

Happy Christmas everyone, I'm building the Brandenburg Gate later, but my 9 year old is shut away in his bedroom making the Simpsons house (we are all not allowed near until he finishes!) and my daughter is building the Trevi Fountain.

Not to mention admiring the Christmas sets my son and I built the other day, set up by my children so apologies for the layout not being perfect. Now we just have to find space for the vehicles and Santa's workshop we also made that day!

You know all you really needed was the polarity switch.   The battery box and IR receiver can run 2 motors just fine.
Sorry, only just seen this. Yes, I know it can, but I want the extra range that a second battery box provides, as I don't want it to die after only an hour and a half of running at shows. With the two battery boxes, it lasts more than three hours.

Due to lack of space as the place is still covered with christmas decorations and I can't find enough space to build anything substantial, having to make do with building #75049 snowspeeder that I picked up whilst on my travels to Germany. Only trouble is I now have the inkling to break out #75054 AT-AT that I picked up earlier in the year but I think there could well be an over active discussion with the boss if I do.

About half-way through #71016 Kwik-E-Mart. Boy does this set have a lot of stickers!

Just finished my son's Xmas present. Swamp Police Station. He loves it and is making up quite the story to go along with it. I'm always amazed by the imagination of children.

    AND...

...this is the first LEGO police station I've ever owned. 36 years of collecting and not a single
    one until now.

I think I have 2 police cars. must be like 20 pieces each, they probably were freebies.

building battle for ninjago city. which I bough for christmas. 2014 lol. well, I did have the secondary builds built for a long time actually. and I guess everyone knows it, but the model looks gorgeous even though it's not even complete.

I'm currently building the Detective's Office. I just finished the second part (#2 bags). I also built The BBT set and the Ecto-1. They were really fun builds and I highly recommend them!

Just took this photo at my computer desk. He was stuck on here a few weeks ago and I forgot to take him back to the lego room. And now look he's dead and its all my fault.

@carlq I built the #76022 X-Men vs. the Sentinel set last week and I agree that it is unfairly criticized. I would have loved a Blackbird on par with the Quinjet and a Sentinel the size of the Power Armor Lex mech, but the set packs a lot for the price. The jet looks much better in person and even the shape of the sentinel head, which I initially disliked, looks better too. Once you add in the minifigs, it's a steal.
I obviously haven't checked this thread since June 2014, so found with great coincidence this comment at the top of my thread.

Bought this set in an amazon sale just before Christmas, mainly for the figs but found the jet to be a fun build and enjoyable end product. May have to moc some landing gear for display and I'd like the tail fins to have a bit more movement so may do something about that.

Yes the sentinel is a little small but really pleased with the set as a whole especially for £25.

    Finished the Kwik-E-Mart.

And I've worked out what the wife's tweezers are for. The stickers almost look ok! Result!!

Really nice.  Although it has become a bit of a headache in terms of BLing the parts, the build far surpasses anything I have built before.  The level of detail is astonishing, and everything, somehow just fits.  Being black, I'm find it really difficult to take decent pictures of it but here's one of the head.

It's a bit fiddly in places and there's a couple of areas where joints are strained to the limit.  It's clear to say therefore it would never find its way onto a Brand Store shelf, but that said the build techniques used are interesting and very clever.  Probably not 'legal' but I'm blown away nonetheless.

The instructions are equally as good.  Had they have been LEGO printed, the book would have twice as many steps, dumbing it down for those that can't manage more than 3 added bricks at a time.  Instead, they use fewer steps leaving it for the builder to think a bit more.  That said, they are extremely well drawn and leaving little possibility of getting things wrong.  Maybe because I'm having to spend longer working stuff out that I'm making fewer mistakes as I usually do when getting complacent on a retail build.

With any luck I'll have it completed in the next week or two - currently being held up by badly 'picked' BL orders so need to wait for the postie to sober up and get the few remaining parts required to me.

I see you have also added to the difficulty by choosing an elaborate and distracting design for your Christmas work area.
Cant wait to see finished pictures, not my cup of tea this time around but it still looks lovely.

Like you I received bad orders. I ended up more or less doubling up on the 38 white wedges and slopes just to make sure when it came to build I didn't have tobacco coloured notchy whites.

That's odd. When I emailed them I got a response within 10 minutes. Entire ordering process maybe took 30 minutes emailing back and forth and paypal.  Maybe it's because of the holidays?

Looks great, I bought the book as soon as I heard about this project.  Then decided not to build it for now. So, I decided to get some of the parts for my BL store to sell. I guess I'm capitalist scum? ;)

I just also finished the Detective's Office yesterday and the day before. It was an awesome build! There were very creative building techniques, for example, the small water tower is made of a small tread track inside:

Or also the railing on top of the Detective's Office is made of constraction fists:
Btw, congrats @brumey for getting into the mods!
