There is only one USC model they need to, nay must, make and that is Mr T. And I pity the fool who disagrees.
    Dimensions 2016...

I'm excited for next year's D2Cs, from what I've heard they're all super cool. Except one, I don't care for the theme at all, but I'm sure some people will like it.

Big BB-8 would be pretty cool. It wouldn't be able to roll though, which sucks.

Yet they did think #10026 should be on it, over any missing ones.
#10026 arguably merits special branding more than most - perhaps it's not immediately apparent but a  lot of it is chrome plated.

Star destroyer would be nice. Its a ship that plays a big role in almost all the movies, including the new one. The original ucs set is pretty old now and was released before the lego hype realy took off. Think many people don't have it and its one of the few truly iconic starwars ships. (maybe 2nd after the millennium falcon)

I wonder if LEGO themselves weren't entirely sure what the UCS branding meant
It doesn't "mean" anything. It's a label used solely to get money out of your pockets and into theirs.

The label that does that for me is LEGO. Any other label is icing on the cake.

Honestly, I think that they should make a UCS Smaug. Smaug would be an awesome display piece and a super fun build. Either that, or a UCS Taj Mahal. I realize that the original Taj Mahal was the largest set ever made (In terms of pieces) but a remake would be incredible! :)

Having derailed the topic a bit earlier...
Let us put this back onto Star Wars as the UCS theme.

I now have to say UCS Cloud City.
    But I mean really big.
6000+ pieces to get the scale of  the Darth Vader banquet, the Carbonite freezing of Han Solo with Boba Fett and the Luke/Darth duel scene underneath the city.

I doubt a brick built Smaug would be better than the existing moulded one and affordable and sell at the same time.

@CCC. yeah, I get where you're coming from. However, they could do just a bust of Smaug's head, but I agree, it would be too expensive all the same :(

Not just Yoda - there are a whole bunch of branded UCS sets missing. I'm going with the theory stated above that this poster was put together by the work experience boy in his lunch hour....

With the news of a brand new Death Star upcoming in the Ultimate Collector Series, I am curious to know what you guys think the next UCS model should be.

I would personally love an updated UCS Tantive IV....what about you?

It doesn't have to be Star Wars, on the poster etc., etc., so I'd like a Deep Sea Submarine in UCS.  60092 is wonderful (I have three) but two or three times the size with extra detail?  Fantastic.

That, or a UCS portaloo from 60073.

I would love to see some of the busts expand to other themes. For instance, an Iron Man helmet. Perfect subject matter for one and a good display piece.

modular cloud city. outside perfect display model of the cloudcity in mini scale and you can lift of parts the bottom part being the carbon freezing chamber top part being the dining room. the most intresting part is going to be the stand because it has to let that tail/antenna thing come down while not being in the way or taking away from the model.

cavegod over at eurobricks said the next UCS are Hoth Base, Death Star, Snowspeeder, and Millennium Falcon:

That is an interesting list. I don't know cavegod except for a good reputation in general and his astonishing AT-AT.

As long as TLG deems £400 or so a viable big spend for kids, we could well see another UCS MF while the new films maximise appetite for such a set beyond the hardcore AFOLs. The ISD is begging to be redone too - perhaps they could put a hybrid set out, with the extra pieces and alternative instructions required to create either an Ep4-6 version or one belonging to Ep7

Ep. 7 Star Destroyer is actually different from the ones in the OT. The one Hux and Kylo are on is named the "Finalizer" is supposed to be the first of the Resurgent-Class Destroyers following the Galactic Concordance that disarmed everyone. Visually I couldn't tell what was different from 1 viewing.

I would be happy if they went this route, then it would at least be a new entry to the UCS line and not a damned rehash exactly. I would not be similarly happy if they did it with the Falcon, unless it was obviously and widely different from the existing one.
  • SithLord196SithLord196 Member Posts: 1,154
For me, I think it would be hard to improve on the outward appearance of the original UCS Millennium Falcon. Since I never owned one, I can't say that with absolute certainty, nor can I comment on it's actually structure and whether or not it was sturdy.

The top half of the new Star Destroyers look like they've been completely redone. The underside was still pretty similar. If anything it did look like they had slightly different proportions from the older ones, as in not being quite as long from front to back but being a little wider at the back from side to side.
  • yuffieyuffie Member Posts: 91
I'm not going to get involved in what is or isn't a UCS set as it would suggest I care ... which I don't.

That aside are we likely to see anymore Lego busts? How long since the last one was released.

And as someone who would love a #10179 surely a TFA Falcon is crying out to be the next UCS.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
Bust may be too narrow of a term, since Yoda was a whole figure. And if that counts, then R2-D2 was the last one.

    2001: Darth Maul #10018
    2002: Yoda #7194
    2008: Grievous #10186
    2012: R2-D2 #10225
  • SithLord196SithLord196 Member Posts: 1,154
Regarding the busts, I think it depends on whether or not you include #10225 R2-D2 as one or not. It was released in 2012.

I personally consider it one. I think that one, Darth Maul, Yoda, and General Grievous are all UCS sets but sort of a subtheme of them.
  • GalactusGalactus NLMember Posts: 255

It will be interesting to see if there is any type of "re-make".  I believe the X-Wing fighter Red Five was the first re-make of a UCS set.  The gap was about 15 years.  So, I'll be interested to see if another re-make is on the horizon or something new.

I'm also wondering how well the Tie Fighter UCS is selling.  I found the designer video decidedly uninspiring.
I have 2 of them, one to build and 1 to save, just in case it pulls a surprise...  We shall see how it goes...

That being said, while I didn't buy Red Five (I built the origional, the rerelease did nothing for me), a rerelease UCS MF would be a day one purchase for me.

I feel like with the Batmobile UCS and The Marvel Helicarrier UCS, Lego may be deciding although Star Wars UCS should and will continue it is best to throw in other UCS sets from different themes to prolong SW UCS instead of making another Obi Starfighter that doesn't do as well.

For SW UCS I stand by my #1 pick - the Nebulon Escort Frigate
As a more realistic pick I would go with - UCS AT-AT

$100 bucks says we see a UCS AT-AT within at most 3 years

  • ecmo47ecmo47 North CarolinaMember Posts: 2,096
I, too, would love to see a Nebulon Frigate but I don't think that Lego would do as good a job as Mortesv.

    http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84136&hl=

It would be much like the difference between the excellent Heli-carrier submitted to Ideas and the lame version that Lego produced.

It will be interesting to see what Lego does come up with for USC, especially since TFA didn't produce any new iconic vehicles. The MF re-release is about the only route they could go! I think a USC BB-8 is a natural but I think a TIE bomber would be in the works a few years after the current TIE is retired.

A wallet's not big enough so they did this:

You'll notice the absence of real money - it is indeed empty.

How about a remake of 10030?  That set looks nice, but it is really fragile, and is now many years old...

Make it an Imp Star Deuce.  :)
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
^Right, the sides are held on by magnets, that is sort of unusual for Lego.

Lego has already started to do UCS remakes, but I feel like they should shift their focus in a new direction before we get 3 UCS X-wings or 3 UCS Sandcrawlers or 3 UCS Tie Fighters or 4 UCS Death Stars.

Most of the remakes have big improvements on their previous counterpart, but say 5-10 years from now what will they really be able to improve?  Seems they have thrown out the idea of producing an $800 Millenium Falcon.

As remakes go, that is begging to be done - coming up to 14 years old. It's a while since we've had a huge UCS set (but where to put it?)
  • CaptAPJTCaptAPJT Member Posts: 223
While I'd certainly like a 10030 remake to sit alongside my 10221 I'm just not sure you can improve visually on the original, same goes for 10179. Admittedly the classic star destroyer could be updated with more modern build techniques but I'm not convinced of the mass market appeal.  An updated 10179 however would probably sell by the boatload to those who missed out first time round and don't have £5k to spend.

I'd still like to see an Ultimate Collectors A-Wing. Excited At the prospect of a new UCS snow speeder (T-47 Airspeeder)

Since we know there is another DS coming, is that going to take up a 2016 UCS slot? I guess the other may be the rumored Snowspeeder. So really we're talking about ideas for 2017 UCS spots. Seems a long ways away from now.

@OrmskirkBricks, TLG already did a minifig scale S.H.I.E.L.D Quinjet #6869, but I wouldn't mind one that's more accurate, it really should have had the wing rotors.

Yeah, I am going to pick up the avengers one next weekend as it's the closest thing, but it's not quite Minifig scale, the cockpit should be able to hold at least a pilot and co-pilot.
