    Osbourne toys in rushden has kingdoms stuff at rrp. Just travelled up there to get 7187 and 7950. Also picked up a kings castle. They still have an Mvr and outpost attack and dragons prison. Anyone interested in making an offer/trade for the castle? (i wanna use profit to offset the petrol cost!)

    id definitely get dragons prison if you can. i had one and just sold it for £55!

    I'm not really into the Castle and Kingdoms themes nor the reselling business, but I found a nearby store selling King's Castle for 70 EUR and Dragon's Prison for 14 EUR... Would it be smart to stock up on these?

    I missed the Kings Castle and other Kingdoms theme sets, kinda took my sons review and dropped the idea of collection those :P

    Hi, I am interested in trading the castle and have quite a few options which you may or may not be interested in. I did try sending a message, but not sure if its got there as I got a strange error message? Anyway, the unopened sets I have are Ninjago Fire Temple, some POTC sets, some Star Wars sets, and a couple of older sets for trade such as Time Cruisers. Let me know what sort of things you're interested in.
    I unfortunately missed this, despite building a lot of castle MOCs, which was a bit silly on my part, but I did pick up MVR thank goodness.

    thanks, I wish it were always so, but I dont generally tell people about the ones which sit there for years and dont sell :)

    managed to find a shelf full of them today so invested in 5 more :)

    found 3 kings castles too, 2 of them at 33% off, which was a nice bonus. Also as a nice surprise managed to find 4x coastguard boat on a shelf, which must have been there for years. imagine me carrying all that across town whilst wrestling a 1 year old. its been an interesting day!

    I'm definitely cracking a kings castle open to add to the joust though.

    ^ Where are you finding this stuff ?! I love stumbling upon a few retired sets on the shelves, but these days it's getting less and less easy to do.

    As I've seen mentioned before, check your Marshalls/TJ Maxx for Kingdoms sets, across 4 stores I found MVR, King's Carriage Ambush and Blacksmith Attack. Also found several PoP sets (Quest for Time, Ostrich Race, Fight for the Dagger). Sets in general were about 30-35% off.

    @Si_Dorking_Surrey_UK Enjoy building your King's Castle, I'd be interested in knowing how well the plume fits into the Kings' Helmet when you do. Mine was loose as anything and fell out all the time. I've ordered a replacement helmet from Lego, hopefully you don't have the same problem.

    I checked marshalls and TJ Maxx in my area, borders, and barnes and nobles ,1 store each cause theres not many in my area. Marshalls didn't even carry lego and TJ maxx just had 4 or so PoP sets. I'm still looking for kingdom sets! any other suggestions?

    @Si_Dorking_Surrey, amazing find and yep it is interesting. Too bad due to heavy shipping charges I cannot ask you to send me one of the Kings Castle :) But do have a good time building it my friend. Your little one will be one lucky kid to have a parent who is a big fan of Lego and with so much Lego around to play with :)

    I did a bit of looking round today, and found some Kingdoms sets in a small toy shop. King's Castle and MVR still available, but full retail price, which I guess might look cheap very shortly!

    Two comments...

    1) I think everyone agrees that the Joust definitely replaces the King's Castle and it is a new 2012 set. Technically speaking, the Kingdoms Theme will be around in 2012 as TLG says since the Joust is just being released.

    2) Having a Kingdoms Theme and LOTR Theme simultaneously doesn't make business sense. Most people who like kings, castles, jousting, dragons, etc. would like LOTR sets as well, and one theme cannibalizes the other. That said, TLG pays a licensing fee for LOTR; however, they pay nothing for Kingdoms...hence more profitable set for set.

    Finally found the King's Castle! I had to drive quite a ways to a further Barnes and Nobles that had 2 in stock. Picked them up both but only managed to 10% off members discount, better than nothing!

    When we followed that tweet story we took it to mean that more LEGO Castle coming in 2012 which LOTR would not be included in. Whether it's Kingdoms or not we'll have to see. The Brick Show will be at the NY Toy Fair so hopefully we'll have more information.

    The Kingdoms theme has reappeared on [email protected] UK now, with just joust and a couple of keyrings in it.

    Its kind of funny how a lot of people missed the mark on these sets and focused on Mideval Marketplace.

    I guess I just don't get it. Outside of MVR, what Kingdoms set was any different or any better than than the previous Castle incarnations? The whole theme, IMO, just had a very last minute / lazy feel to it.

    ^^ Have to agree. There was nothing special about it, but castle has always been a popular theme with a lot of followers. And now the theme has ended and castle fans are clamoring.

    ^,^^ What appealed to me was the departure from the Fantasy based sets and more of a focus on realistic (for Lego) sets. There is nothing overly special about these sets, but they reminded me of the classic sets of the late 80s and early 90s.

    I don't think the theme was last-minute, I think they changed their approach when the LOTR deal was under negotiation. One of the first sets was the Dragon wizard polybag - who never appeared in any other sets or was expanded on. I think they may have been going for something similar to Dragon Masters, but had to scrap that idea because of the conflict to the LOTR deal.

    I'm sorry I didn't collect the Kingdoms set, I have grabbed just 2 things on clearance, but its too late for me to catch up now, I'm in the process of catching up on SW now and its REALLY REALLY REALLY expensive!!

    ^^ I agree, I think the more realistic tone set by this series is a big departure from previous. Having just finished the joust, I can say that it has the same AFOL appeal as MMV did, using lots of AFOL-type techniques to break up the large surfaces and add realism. There's also a great use of frogs, and I'll let you enjoy the surprise of these. The builds of joust and MMV have a very modular-building-type feel to me, and I think that's what makes people go crazy for them

    To me, it's these 2 'star' sets which put Kings Castle in a different light, as it 'goes with them'. IMO MVR is just a lazy set, and doesn't look right with the rest of the Kingdoms stuff, and the build isn't that exciting.

    How well does the King's Castle really go with the Joust and MMV? I've convinced myself that it's OK I missed the King's Castle because it doesn't seem to be big enough to fit in with those sets. It looks like the buildings in MMV would be nearly as tall as the towers of the King's Castle.

    I collected all the Kingdom sets because I missed all the castle sets. However I didn't like them initially because they did look a little last minute. Comparing the Castle themes King's Castle Siege set to the Kingdoms theme King's Castle, the latter definitely looks plain. And then someone pointed out to me the other day that all the previous LEGO castle stuff always had different head gear for opposing themes, yet this one just changed the color, so it looked a little less thought through.

    King's Castle goes really well with the Joust, but only because of the reds. Other than that, I think it looks woefully out of place next to Joust and MMV. It's simply way too small, and looks "kiddie-ized" next to the others.

    ^That was my goal when I bought both of them, but I don't think it will be able to make a complete square or circle. Also I don't know if the two technic connecting pieces will be the same height. I'm curious to see if anyone made it work. Pictures would be welcome :)

    Don't remember which thread mentioned it but I did pick up 4 MVR's today at a couple different TJ Maxxes. There were a lot of King's carriages too. Saw the carriages at Marshals as well.

    I really think it is a total bummer that TLG decided to terminate Kingdoms. I haven't bought 'The Joust' yet which I definitely will. I did collect all other sets, but was surprised about the sort shelf life of the last wave of 2011 sets, I almost missed out on them. I hope that whatever will replace Kingdoms (Castle being the main theme I collect) will be a worthy successor!
    I also hope that the lOTR sets will not be too expensive.

    When you say opposing themes do you mean opposing factions (i.e. Lion knights vs. Dragon knights)? Different factions in the Castle theme have often had the same headgear, sometimes in the same color(s).

    @Neiljam yea sorry I mean opposing factions. I can't remember all of them but for the most part I mean themes like forestmen had their special hats, fright knights had those bat helmets, wolfpack had the hoods, etc. And in recent times with the Castle line, the humans had the normal knight head gear, then the orcs had their own stuff, the dwarfs had something new, and the skeletons I don't remember.

    But with Kingdoms it was the same gear, just different color.

    Strangely I decided to go back to the little toy shop that had the Kingdoms sets including the Kings Castle, as at the time I had picked up a couple of the other smaller sets I needed, but strangely left the castle. Needless to say when I went back, they had sold out, but then by sheer coincidence on a day out at the weekend, I saw the Kings Castle in quite an unexpected place and picked a copy up for £68 (20% off). I am feeling quite lucky at the moment!

    Absolutely, it's a great set and it looks as though it is being discontinued so get it while you can, don't pay over £100/$130 if you can avoid it though.

    I think most every actual "castle" set has reached a resale value well above its retail price soon after its retirement. So on that account, sure you should get it.

    The set itself I think is bland and below average for a Lego castle. Opinions, of course.

    Just finished building Kings castle tonight, and integrated it into joust. The modification required an additional green 2x8 plate and a dark grey 4x10 plate, thats it.

    Yes, I agree. I had initially passed it over (is that the right phrase??) because I didn't think it was a great looking set. But now, I'm wondering if I should get it as I've got MMV and will most certainly be getting the Joust...
