    Evening everyone, I need a little help but I am not sure this is the correct thread, although the parts knowledge here may prove very helpful. I actually know the part that is required for a build (part 30342 - rock arctic globe bottom). Unfortunately it is required in light bluish grey. What I was hoping is that anybody on the forum might have a good alternative to this piece, either as a single part or a built up alternative as the part itself is rarer than rocking horse poop (in light grey) and I would probably have to sell my grandma to afford the extortionate prices for this piece. Any suggestions gratefully received. My grandma really depends on it.

    or four 2x2 macaroni or two 2x4 macaroni (there are multiple variation of each) could do the trick.

    ^ I have a 4 way UCS bricklinking project going on and the last build of the 4 is the 10030. So the alternative part/s are going to replace the bottom half of the shield generator domes. I have managed to get 2x parts 86500 for the top of the domes but finding a suitable replacement for the bottom half is providing difficult due to the fact it's right on top and plainly visable.

    Hello Was wondering if anybody knows what retro sets the trans-clear 2x2x1 macaroni piece came from. Mines probably from the 60's I think. Thanks

    2282 Rocka XL from LEGO Hero Factory. If you want to be sure it's real LEGO and not a bootleg, you can check inside the individual parts for the LEGO logo. But it seems real from these photos.

    I know the first wave of floating boats had a fire boat w/ no minifigs, the clear macaroni piece was used inverted as a radar atop a mast or smokestack. The hull was red, 4 or 5 pieces. The water cannons were made of Technic rods & bushings.

    IIRC the only other floating boat at the time was a police boat w/ a single minifig, we had that. Set 383 maybe? The hull was black, 3 pieces.

    EDIT- The fire boat was called "fire fighter ship" from 1978. Set #316, set #775 in the USA.

    On BrickLink the piece mentioned is part #3063, & appears as clear in 20 sets. It was in sets as far back as 1957...so 1978 is relatively new.

    Wow I was way off. Set 709 (not 383) was the early police boat. Also, there was an even earlier wave of floating boats from the early/mid 70s. I had no idea.

    Set 383 is the old Knights' Tournament. Dunno why that stuck in my head. I knew 383 was old though.

    Can someone help, recently whilst buying parts off brick owl for my bat/joker pod I came across some rather nifty pearl light Gray 3022 parts that I thought I may use. However, when updating my parts list on rebrickable, apparently they don't exist. The seller that has these still has 40 for sale, they are branded on the studs with Lego and have the part number 3022 on the underside and also 1 has 6-33 whilst the other has 7-33 stamped on the underside as well. Does anyone know where these come from or are they custom plates?
    Any info greatly appreciated.

    These are just 2x2 plates right? A bunch of sellers have them on bricklink in that colour as well (I'd imagine that the majority of the sellers are the same ones as BrickOwl) but I wouldn't be too concerned about them being fake/custom.

    'Non-production' stuff crops up every now and then, and I guess it's only the sellers who know how they ended up with it (and I guess the majority of them are unlikely to divulge their sources) but you can always ask!

    These, if they're real, are "Q" elements, which is to say, they're not in production for sets at this time, and maybe never have been. TLG makes more of these than you think, usually for their internal use or for the Legoland displays. Sometimes, production elements escape into the wild before the first sets that use them are available. For example, the gold-bar piece in light grey was spotted on Flickr months before the first sets that used it were available for sale. In this article a Legoland designer mentions that they have some parts available in colours nobody else can get, or colours that don't even get used for ANY parts, such as the peach colours they use for flesh tones.

    I also know people who have strange parts, like a 48x48 baseplate in white, which as you can see from Bricklink, is being sold despite never having been sold.

    Thanks for that, I am fairly sure that the parts are genuine Lego as I trust the seller and have had no issues with any of my previous orders from this seller. I just couldn't understand why I couldn't find them in any sets. I now have my answer, cheers guys.

    Looks like non-LEGO to me. Not sure if it's a clone brand, an AFOL-created custom, or from some entirely different type of product that just happens to look LEGO-sized.

    Following up on my post slightly above, it appears my tiny bone, is a Barbie prop. I think I am going to keep it with my customs. The variety might be nice some day.

    Not exactly an identifiying question but thougt this group would be best to ask.  Does anyone know if they make curved rails in the style of 4638990/3228 part number in sets like The Mine?  My son is looking to do a MOC and we can't figure it out.  Attached, the best pic I could get of the straight version.  Thanks!

    The problem with curves is that the inner and outer rails are not only different, but that difference depends on the gauge. On that basis, you might as well well have complete track sections - at least for most purposes.

    There are complete track sections in two different gauges (2M and 4M) - 85976 and 53400. There are older single curved rails (of two different radii), but they still correspond to a gauge of 4M.

    Not quite. It's actually 53585. The hole in 53585 goes all the way through the center, whereas the hole in 32474 stops partway. Also, the hole for 32474 can accept studs, the hole for 53585 cannot.

    From a photo like this that only shows the part from one angle, you can tell what it is by whether two quarters of the outer rim around the center hole are indented, in which case it's 53585.

    Hello. I was just building set #6276 and found this. I believe it happens when they switch over collor or something . Does this happen a lot or is it that's its an original piece from 1989? Thanks

    I don't think it happens a lot anymore, but it's well-documented in older sets. I haven't sen a lot of it firsthand (being a younger AFOL in the grand scheme of things), but I've read mentions of it in "The World of LEGO Toys", a book about LEGO from 1987.

    Not exactly a part, but would anyone one know where those cup/pot come from ? They have no marking beside a "Made in China". The LEGO logo is a sticker. Each cup is 3" high, 2.5" wide at the bottom and 3. 5/8 at the top.

    @Dawn I have almost the same thing. They were packaged by RoseArt and sold in stores under the Lego Educational banner.  I have red, green, yellow and white cups and came with 50 2 x 2 bricks in assorted colors.

    Hi, I recently purchased a basket full of what was tagged as vintage Lego. It contained a lot of bricks from the early 60s but in amongst it was this. It is 8 x 2 x 3 and I've got no idea what set it comes from. It has the Lego name on each stud, so I'm sure its genuine. Any help would be appreciated
