@chuxtoybox Waw, you make me blush, never thought I would acutally inspire someone, that is so great! Curious to see how your build is going to look. Opening-up builts are always cool, I am usually making mine like the modulars so you can play floor by floor, but I should try to incorporate hinges more, I've got loads lying around anyway... Have fun and thanks for mentioning my build.

As soon as I churn out some CV's, I'm gonna take a(nother) break and build the Halloween vignette, which I just received today :)

Just finished a parts-built version of the Death Star II (http://brickset.com/sets/10143-1/Death-Star-II).  This one is expensive if you buy the kit at retail.  Can be over $2500 but by buying the individual parts for the kit, it was much less.  The manuals are on Brickset.com.  I have grown to like building my kits with the manual on my iPad in pdf form.  My eyes are not what they used to be so the ability to zoom in on the iPad is nice.  Definately fun to collect the parts and then finally able to start building when you have enough parts to do so.  My next project is going to be a MOC that I purchased the instructions for of the Battlestar Galactica classic Cylon Raider(http://www.brickstruct.com/ ).  It's gonna be cool when finished-cant wait.  This Christmas, I have set aside the Slave I (http://brickset.com/sets/75060-1/Slave-I ) kit to build.  That one's gonna be fun too.

@BRICKARMOR I really like your Monster Fighters display. We have ours in the exact same orientation! Can you take a close up of the stack sets on the left of the haunted house? I have those spread out but think combining them might work quite well to free up space for some of the vehicles.

@JELJ1S Thanks! We added some BURPs and LURPs to make the smaller sets more looming, and to provide a cave for Medusa and Bigfoot. The shelf is not quite big enough for the Monster Fighters' vehicles, though I have thought about hanging the plane from Ghost Train. Pics with flash and without, cuz I'm not a keen photographer. :)

Just bullseye that polybag as if it is a whomprat, and build that micro X-Wing. You did not buy the UCS either just to look at the sealed box.

    @TheBigLegoski
In the end I didn't turn to the dark side and leave it sealed...

Complete with stand to go on display next to #10240 :)

Anyway, back on topic, I've just completed my first modular, #10243 PR. Absolutely loved it!
I can't decide which part was the most enjoyable to build, but certainly the roof embellishment stands out, as do the first floor (UK) windows, curtains, kitchen and dresser.
The building itself looks stunning, with some amazing details, so I am really looking forward to getting the other modulars currently available, especially the newer ones (DO & BB)!
I'm not sure I'd want to live in either of the two flats, however, given that you'd have to fight your way through the restaurant's clientèle on the roof terrace, to get into your home! ;-)

I have not yet build the Petshop, instead tonight I built #75102 Poe's X-Wing Fighter. I just finished building it. Wow! What a magnificent set. This X-wing is phenomenal!
However, my set has two issues: a missing brick and the canopy has messed up printing, which is a total bummer!

^ You can give a ring or email customer service and I think they will send you replacement bricks.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @kiki180703
I will (I also just left a comment about this on the this thread) contact customer service about it. It is just, how shall I put it, so annoying having to ring or email, only to report these quality issues and request replacement parts. Lego CS is great, still I rather just have a flawless set.

On a positive note, this model looks so good. If you are only allowed to choose one set of the seven ep.VII sets that are out now, I think, this one looks most spectacular, and if the aesthetics of these sets are considered the most important overall aspect, this X-Wing is my number one!
The blue rubber bands actually do not distract as much from the look, as they appear to do judging from photos. Still I would have liked it better if they were black.
The build took me much longer then anticipated, but (aside from these two shortcomings, which CS hopefully will resolve) the end result is epic.

@Brickarmor Thank you so much for the close up. that is exactly what i wanted to see. I will definitely be adding in som BURPs and LURPs for the display next year! I'll be taking it down this evening and getting the Christmas sets ready.

    Project 3724:

Not building it yet, but I'm sourcing the parts to build #3724. My goal is to build it as cheap as possible. (As free as possible) I should actually put a dollar amount for myself, but I'm afraid I'll go over. What helps is I sort Lego for a guy who sells online.  For "pay," he lets me keep 10% (in lbs) of what I sort. I'm also getting parts from the sets I part out for Bricklink. I know in the pile was most of a Fire Station, Hogwarts Castle, body of Hungarian Horntail. So, a pretty good lot.

So far, I've only paid for the baseplate...
    Long way to go!

  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
^ That #3724 is a fun build. I built it for my son's second birthday. He still hasn't taken ownership of it yet because his Lego sets stay together for about five minutes.

Was going to build a couple more in different colors. I still may do that. Maybe blue, red, white, black and yellow (gold). We'll see where that goes.

@Rebelego , Bricklinked mine a few months ago, I save tons of $ by replacing the green 2x8 by two 1x8, there were no places in the build were it was an issue (using two 2x4 would have caused some issues, but if you substitute half of the 2x8 with 2x4 you will be OK).

Build my self #40124 and #40125, the 2 Christmas vignette, and #40138 Holiday Train and #40153 Birthday Cake, and no I didn't feel bad building the number 45, while 12 is shown on the box :).

I have to say the vignettes this year are excellent, lot of details, rare bricks, etc, really a step up (well may be not for #40122 the Halloween one, but 5 great out of 6 is not bad)

@ColoradoBricks, Thanks! I have a bunch of 1x8's and was wondering if it made a difference!

Finally started work on my modular city.  Not really looking forward to building the sets on the board, so I hope the measuring (stud counting) works out.

I'm thinking a 16-stud walkway/alley will still look realistic, but be enough separation between buildings facing each other...

    And I built Deadpool's helicopter.

Just building bag(s) 2 of #10246 Detective's Office, so am now doing the ground floor of Al's hair salon.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
^^^ I also did some substitutions on the inside. 1x8 replaced 2x8 and I even replaced a few of the green 1x8 with yellow 1x8 as long as it couldn't be seen.

BTW, it's pretty heavy. Try not to drop it on your foot.

@Bosstone100 @Rebelego I have bricklinked 3 different colors for 3724, Red/Black, Original Green/Red and Blue/Grey. Fun build. I replaced many of the 2x8 bricks with 2x4 and 2x3/2x2 combinations. The blue one is in my son's room and the Red with a bow will go in my daughter's room once she is born in May! I want to do this in white, black and yellow as well. We shall see how those prices work out. the others averaged around 70 each after all was said and done.

I just picked up #70754 ElectroMech on a whim. I haven't bought any Ninjago vehicles so far and have just stuck to the buildings and dragons, but it was on offer at Sainsbury's, so I thought "why not?"... Anyway, I've just finished building it and it's actually rather nice. I love the deployable blades and, although simple, it was a fun build.
I only have one other mech, #21109 Exo-Suit, which it has some similarities with, obviously, but it is much more simple, but also rather more sturdy.
One thing though: Jay's weapon is just silly... ;-)

Well, the idea of Jay's weapon in that set seems to be that it's big enough that the mech can carry it in its free hand. Hence it being more mech-sized than minifigure-sized. :)

I agree, that set's a nice design. As simple as it is, it has a lot of personality.

I have just finished putting together #10218 Pet Shop, which looks really nice. It is striking how much "simpler" it is than later modulars, such as DO and PR, but it is still very nice.
It is definitely required, to give the street a "lived-in" look.
There are some really nice little features, such as the toilet, fish tank, telephone and, of course, the porch. The "PETS" lettering is, of course, also nice, similar to the lettering in DO.
All-in-all a good, fun, build, but it does make me want to add to and modify it, far more than the other two, which don't really need anything. :-)
