General consensus was reached in one of the modulars threads that if it has Technics pins, it's a modular, so #41078 is an Elves set & a modular... (possible also a space skulls set, but you'd need @SumoLego 's opinion to be sure). ;)

@brumey - the Elves boat is fantastic, really nice brick built hull...I might have bought 2 of that one...and occasionally add parts to brick link orders to try to make recoloured versions in the future.

Finally get to post (although technically not a member for long, I've been wanting it for a while so I'm counting it) that I picked up a 10937. Not a bad price of £110, used but excellent condition and complete with box. Woop. Might have to queue jump the build list with this one.

Got back from the LEGO Store in Bluewater earlier, clutching a #10243 Parisian Restaurant, #10249 Toy Shop and #40138 Christmas Train in my sweaty hands... The Toy Shop and Train join Santa's Workshop in the cupboard until Christmas...
I hummed and hah-ed about which should be my first modular and finally decided that, although I do want the PC and PS, my first should be one I *really* want, so spent 5 minutes doing more humming and hah-ing between the PR and DO and finally settled on PR. I'll just have to keep a close eye out for any news about either of the older ones being retired and snap 'em up before they do so.

I think I like PR also best of PS, PC, and PR. Still I went the other route and got the oldest of the three first.
    Anyway happy building times!

I think I am gonna start building my Petshop while watching the Formula1 Grandprix of Mexico live on TV tonight. If I am not mistaken it starts at the same time as last weeks Formula 1 event at Texas: 20:00 hours CET. Though if the race will be as exciting as last week, I will be just sitting there with some bricks in my hands while my eyes are totally transfixed on the TV screen.

Ok this might sound like a daft question but do you get double vip points in Billund when double VIP week is on?
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
@JudgeChuck, I've been hearing that with the Brick Bank being a corner, that makes PC a strong contender for retirement, but with PS being the oldest, there is strong reasoning for it to go first. I'd say now is the point if you're wanting either of them, grab them now, because they both could be gone before you know it. When I started getting back into Lego, I was considering GE, but before I knew, it was gone.

You don't get VIP points at all.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
So why did you guys buy all that Lego in Billund then?

    • No VIP points
    • You gotta carry all that stuff with you on board in the aeroplane back to the UK with the risk of having to pay extra for all your newly acquired luggage.
    • Lego is often more expensive in Denmark, or is it cheaper at Legoland?!
It only makes sense to me to buy anything exclusive to Billund, sold nowhere else.
    ps.
LOL I picture this plane departing from Billund fully packed, though instead of passengers you only see all these huge yellow plastic bags full of Lego sets they must hold in their laps as there is no place else to put them.

Impressive haul! Were they reduced in Billund?

Today i've mostly been stalking ebay auctions, hoping to get a zombie pirate and a Milano. Fingers crossed

Yeah, I think that's basically how it works. @Paperballpark just had to go along the plane asking all the other passengers to each hold a Lego bag for him. ;-)

[Edit]: Evidently I haven't been paying attention to Star Wars Lego sets enough recently. That Geonosis one at the top right looks really fun, but I don't recognise it.

When I posted that comment I had not refreshed the tab, so I did not yet see how much you actually bought. And you really bought a lot of stuff! Wow, you are even worse then most women coming back from a shopping spree. So a trip with the ferry it was. You guys probably had a big van to haul back all those sets to the UK?! Really wow!
b.t.w. Great choice on what you got, pretty much all the good stuff out there.

Yeah. I used to be really into Star Wars, but as a kid/teen I could never afford the sets (and also I lived in Africa, where it's hard to get Lego...)...then I realised a lot of them are just repeats, and I wasn't interested in Rebels, so I sort of stopped bothering a year or so ago.

Still, like I said, that one looks pretty fun. It'll still be overpriced as far as I'm concerned, though.

You are quite right. I think that I am just going to have to bite the bullet soon and get them both. Are there any rules on when TLG tends to retire sets? Is the end of 2015 / beginning of 2016 the likely timeframe?

Probably good a place as anywhere else to ask this so here goes: how much do you guys take off a best offer price on ebay? Let's say the item is a hundred. Original MSRP at $30-40.

As for recent purchases that would be the Indominus  Break Out set cause I want that dino and the stock on that one's a bit dicey. Never know when it will disappear.

I picked up a used #10225 on ebay and bought #70751 instead of the Sea Cow or the Tumbler - I may get these later, but I am not that bothered by them tbh.
    I also picked up #7964, #9461, #8321 and a sealed box of #71004.
I also grabbed some more dragons #70734, #70736, #70738 and #70748 as they were nicely reduced. I also just saw the xmas sets in S@H, so I couldn't help myself to also buy #70756 and 2 of each #40124 and #40125.

On a non-lego note I had to buy some Ribba picture frames so I can display some minifigs.

Now I'm skint until this time next year! =o

I'm not suggesting PC will or won't go, but GE was available for 19 months after PC was released.

So, the myth of only one corner is just that, a myth... Thanks for that detail @binaryeye. Unfortunately @JudgeChuck, there is no particular modular that is almost certain to go, as you've probably heard in at least one thread on this forum, TH was a bit of a shock retirement, quickest modular to go as I understand it.

I just ordered Winter Fun and Santa's Visit. Added TBBT to get free shipping and then had to add Lincoln Memorial to get another Lego Christmas Train Promo. After ordering i realized i probably should have just bought 2 each of the Vignettes. oh well. I have one of each so im good! Keep Building!

I've just won an auction for #4954 Model Town House. Which is a shame really, as I was hoping to be outbid....

Still, it will go into the project pile, and at some future date I will build an interior and adapt it to fit in with my modulars.

having a really hard time deciding which turtles sets to get...

there are 2 lair's. one of them i like the figs. one of them i like the build. what gets me mad a bit.  THERE IS NO KRAANG ROBOT. the one where kraang sits in the belly i mean!

i thought i ll get 2 or 3 sets and have all 4 turtles minifigs! THOUGHT SO! there are lots of special minifig variants in all of those turtles sets.

buildwise i only dig shredder lair and turtle lair invasion. but minifig wise i dig all of them classic 80ies cartoon turtles...

Not a Turtles fan myself, but there are actually several Kraang robots! In sets #30270, #79104, #79120, and #79121. None in either of the lairs, though, if that's what you meant. And they're all just printed minifigures, not specially molded ones to accommodate the molded Kraang figure (which is too big to really allow for that).

There's even a Kraang in a damaged human disguise as an NYCC exclusive!
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,709
the krang fig is pretty cool, though too bad they didn't make the yellow one.

Grabbed some overpriced road plates and filled out my JW theme.  The albino alligator in the big set is creepy.

There seem to be some JW sets still filtering into the retail Lego Stores.  If you want them for Christmas or Festivus, I would get them before Black Friday.

There appears to be a healthy stock of Minecraft this year...
