Is there anyone who grabbed a bunch of sets willing to sell a MVR set? I seen someone was offered on on here from someone. Would that person find me, I'd appreciate it.

Went to Walmart 2 days ago and picked up the last MVR left and one of the Seabed Strider out of the three left. The box (MVR) was visibly resealed with paint being removed where the tape would normally go, but all of the bags were sealed still; I was fearing some person took parts and returned it.

Nothing in the store indicated that there was clearance LEGO in the back for 50% off.

    There was one last
Hogwarts Express, a Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle, a Slave-1, a couple of Carriage Ambush, and some other misc. sets. At the time the clone-trooper pack I found still scanned for full price.

I went to a few Wal Marts today. Shockingly I was able to find myself Burrow, Hogwarts Express and Earth Defense HQ, along with some others. Wal Marts everywhere were stock full of Spy Jet Escape, Police Chase and Powerboat Transporter.

^ I guess that tells us how unpopular these sets really are...

Told myself I wasn't going to these kind of road trips anymore but after reading this thread I just had to. Hit about 8 or 9 Walmarts yesterday on the way to Legoland and would have hit 5 or 6 more on the way back if it had not been getting so late. Took my two boys with me and we had a great time. I told them of the great deals we would likely see at some of the Walmarts so they would be able to get big set rather than the normal Lego trinkets I normally get them. My youngest son of 7 wound up picking up a Dino set at Legoland but my oldest never picked out a thing! He's the Lego nut like myself too, but when presented with the chance to get most anything within reason, he just could not make a decision. He said late that if I had just given him the normal limit of $10 he would have been fine. Go figure :P Anyway, told him we'd go down to a Lego store today and do our pick-a-bricks and maybe he could make a decision then.

As far as Walmarts go, I found nothing of the great finds a lot of you did. My local Walmarts never had anything after Christmas to begin with. My only so called good find was two Burrows at one store. The only sets I was able to get were wind's, plocoon's, and freeco's. Picked up a few SW advents as well.

    In review:
One Walmart had a whole end cap of SW advents & a ton of Series 5
    No polybags on sale anywhere
Only one Walmart had a "decent" selection -- lots of Ninjago but I don't buy that
Lots of Cars stuff but I had no interest
Hogwarts, the Hut , the bus & the Castle were never on sale
Don't think any Alien stuff was on sale anywhere

Except for Legoland and time spent with my boys, it was definitely not worth the trip. I have a good stockpile of birthday/christmas gifts. Cant' see the little SW sets appreciating much but at $12.50 to $20 I couldn't resist.

Anyone have any luck here in Socal?

This is a little off topic, but I stopped in at two local Targets in the Raleigh/Durham area today and found a few things of interest. The first had the Apple Tree Houses on sale for $27.98, which works out to a 38% discount. I picked up a few and left a few. I found one Target Practice polybag, which I had been searching for to no avail for the past few months. When I was checking out, I asked the clerk whether they had any more that I had missed. She said they didn't, but then checked the other area stores. Most had a handful, but one was showing inventory of 384, so I headed right over there and hit the jackpot. There shelves were stocked, so I picked up a bunch and got a bunch of Harry Potter polybags as well. The best part is that the Target Practice polys were ringing up as $1.04 and the Harry Potters were ringing up as $1.19. I got most of the Target Practices that were on the shelf, but only got a fraction of the Harry Potters, so if anyone is looking for a great deal in the area, head on over to the new Target in Morrisville at the intersection of 54 and Cary Parkway. The polys are in the holiday clearance aisle at the back of the store.

    I was able to grab
    1 Slave 1
    2 Windu SF's
    2 Ploon's
    1 Emperor's Shuttle
    8 Snowtrooper packs

One walmart had a hogwarts, a hogwarts castle, and 9 burrows but none of them were clearance! I tried though!!! lol

Found a returned apple tree house for 22.90 today. That was it on clearance.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
8 Walmarts and 4 Targets later I still don't have an Apple Tree House, which is the only set I was looking for, I do have sets in 6 themes I swore we weren't getting into.

If anyone is near me (Nashville, TN) there were 2 Slave Is at the Walmart by Skyline earlier today, plus other Star Wars sets, some Ninjago, PQ, Racers, Cars. They were in the Christmas clearance, not the Toys clearance or the Lego aisle.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I would be willing to trade an apple tree house in perfect condition towards a slave 1 and kings carriage rescue. I also have clone trooper/mandalorian battle packs, lots of toy story stuff, SW Watches, various polybags, and lots more!

^ thank you, I'm just wondering whether postage is going to eat up all the cost difference. Heading west today, we'll see what we find.

Overall I was extremely happy. It did not occur to me to look after the 26th, but I happened to go to Walmart on Wednesday. I then purposefully went to another on Friday.

I found a number of sets that I did not buy, including larger sets.

I did come away with everything I really could have wished for.
Pharoah's quest- 3 different sets, including the large pyramid.
Ninjago- 4 different sets, including two larger ones
Kingdom- 3 different sets, including MVR
    Atlantis- City of Atlantis
Star Wars Advent calendar and the Mace Windu set.

Of the stores, I found, but did not purchase Slave, AQ headquarters, the burrow, hagrid's hut, Cars2, and a number of other small sets. The stores also had extra sets of what I did purchase. It was hardest leaving behind The Burrow, but we already have one, and I am not one that resells.

I am very set with Lego sets for my son for a few holidays. :-)
My most exciting finds were the Pyramid, MVR, City of Atlantis, and the Burrow (despite not getting it). I was also excited to find the ice dragon from the Ninjago line. I think that will go nicely with the Kingdom sets, and I already had the Castle stashed from a sale last year.

^ we're planning to have the ice dragon terrorize the winter village if my daughter ever finishes building the village.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
    That would be very cool!!
All of my kids would enjoy that. :-)

Glad to see everyone getting great deals...

I've heard that some walmarts have had CMF 5 discounted but haven't had any luck finding them at any walmarts around me... nothing in the Lego aisles
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ I've seen CMF5 at Walmart - but no discount. I've seen CMF5 at Target for $2.50, and heard others have seen them for $2.00.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
    ^ Confirm $2.54 or such...

I saw CMF5 at my local WM for $1.50 each. I live in Phoenix AZ

Wish I had walmarts with that clearance here in the south... :(

I saw CMF5 for $1 about a month ago or so.

The store had 119 of them.

Since then, i have not seem them discounted. One of my local Walmarts have 8 cases plus an endcap hanger thing full of them.

Found a Toy Story Army Men set and a couple Maters and Lightning McQueens on clearance, which weren't there last time I checked. Also grabbed the last Mill Village Raid they had, just to be safe.

I'm looking for an AC Earth Defense HQ, which I'd happily trade a MVR, or anything else I've gotten this week on clearance.

Found 2 Harry Potter Quidditch Matches, one was unopened and on clearance for $5, the other had been opened and I got the manager to sell it to me for $3, all pieces accounted for (and mini-figures), but was missing 2/3 gold loops that make the quidditch baskets.

Finally scored at a Walmart on Saturday! I live in a pretty remote area, even though we have a Walmart the selection wasn't good and the store doesn't have price scanners which made checking prices PAINFUL. I made a trip to Virginia Beach today and hit 3 Walmarts and 3 Targets. Great haul at one Walmart included 3x MVR, 4x Blacksmith Attach, 1x SW Advent and a few other small things. I left plenty of Carriage Ambush, Blacksmith Attach, and Advent calenders in that store and they had some Alien Conquest and Pharaoh's Quest that didn't interest me. (Store #2529)

Target had a few things 15% & 30% off... nothing amazing compared to WM. I was really trying to find Target Practice polybags, but found none. I bought a few small 2012 City sets I didn't want to wait for... and picked up 12 Harry Potter polybags at one of the Targets.

One Walmart had no Lego on clearance. Was pretty weird... the only thing I can guess is that it's a new store... inside of 6 months. The other Walmart I visited was CLEANED OUT. There wasn't one item left that was on 50% clearance. Amazing. Now that I know exactly which sets should be on clearance, I'll probably revisit my local store and see if there is anything left.

If you missed the post, I found CMF series 5 for $1.49 at Kroger of all places. They must have had them for Christmas and were getting rid of them.

And that wasn't one of those Kroger Marketplace stores, right? Just a normal Kroger that doesn't normally have a big toy section?

Yes, the smaller, grocery Kroger. I am in the South Bend/Mishawaka area of Indiana. I think that is the only kind that we have around here.

Legoland California also had them for 1.99 and you know they're always stocked with hundreds if not thousands of them. I managed to get some extra gladiators, dwarfs, and british guards.

Yes, picked up a case while I was there last week -- less 10% off that ;)

Going to head down there tomorrow again. I don't plan on buying anymore CMF's as I don't see them as good sellers -- even down the line. My kids get a kick out of opening them and they make good party favors, school gift bags, etc.

I went to a Walmart today for some returns. I went to check out the Lego aisle. It was cleaned out of the clearance items for the most part. I thought it odd though that there were several Freeing Dobby sets left at discount. I was surprised at first that there was still one Mace Windu Starfighter (still not marked as clearance) until I saw that the package was ripped open some. I noticed that a Millennium Falcon also had a box torn open. There were a few SW advent calendars left.

See any Turbo Tanks or Hogwarts Castles? Word on the street is that these are discounted now too. I'm about to go out and check around here.

Checked a few Wallmarts yesterday and checked QAR and the Castles -- no sale.

I didn't see any Turbo Tanks or Hogwarts Castles a week ago, so I doubt there are many now.

Misinformation Avenue apparently. I found turbo tanks, but no discount. Trip wasn't a total loss though - found a Mace Windu finally, and the Toy Story train for 50% off (minty fresh box condition too!).

If tradition follows last year, most of the "corporate wide" sets that were dropped to 50% off will stay that price until they sell out.

Any additional clearance (either further clearance of those sets, or clearance of other sets) will be on a store by store basis at the Manager's discretion, at least that's what my experience over the past year has been.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I had read that 70% was coming next Wed or Thur. From reading these posts, seems I may have to just keep popping in.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622
Walmart typically goes to 75%, not 70. Where did you hear that?

Also, my local Walmarts are 75% off holiday, but the toys are still 50.

Sorry, had Target on my mind :P

Before Thxgivng I saw a Turbo Tank for $99 on clearance at one Wal-Mart. I also saw one at Target today for the bargain price of $149! :-P

Went to 4 Walmarts yesterday and saw 4 Windu fighters, 1 Hoth Wampa, and 2 Hoth Battlepacks left...these are out-of-the-way walmarts in ghetto areas that normally are the last to get drained of clearance, so it looks like it's done in my area (Atlanta). The Lego aisle at one WM had totally disappeared and looked like someone set off a grenade the way clearance toys were shoved into any available space. The other ones had reorganized their shelves for spring...looks like there is plenty of room now to place the 2012 arrivals.

I had already hit those stores on the 26th but had left a lot of stock behind, particularly battlepacks (Dobby/Hoth) and was pretty shocked they were all gone, since the stores all had 100+ of them and last year they lasted a good while.

Only saw 4842 Hogwarts at 1 store, marked down to $100...
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 363
Anyone going back to previously cleared-out stores to check for returns or strays that have been put back in the toy aisle? I know it's totally YMMV, but I very lucky to find 5512 set tonight for $15.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I've been to probably 20 Walmarts since last Thursday and only hit a jackpot once. Only got 1 Wampa and two slaves over all. Only 1 Hoth Battle Pack (rebels) and it was open but bags sealed.

    Lots of Freecos, Windus, Plocoons

Did not pick up any Dobby's, Ninjago, Pharaoh or Atlantis of which there was plenty.
  • Jillerbean16Jillerbean16 Member Posts: 27
Awesome find David! I went back to the same Walmart and found a AC HQ, and the next time I found an advent calendar. Both were in the regular Lego aisle and must have been returns.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
There are tons and tons of advent calendars out there. They did not sell for more than $25 during Christmas even. I think I have 8 of them that I will probably use as gifts this year.
  • scratchdeskscratchdesk Member Posts: 155
I know of quite a few sets from various series floating around. Should we expect another set of drops? Inventory has been shrinking slowly so not sure how much longer it'll last.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
Went back today while I was running errands, was hoping to find some returns. Found the Atlantis City set and scanned it but it rang up full price... Found an open AC Abduction set but they only offered to take 10% off... Left empty handed.
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
Hit two today. Got 2 Quiddich sets for $9.90 and a Burrows for $29. One of the stores had the Friends stuff out on a endcap. But other than that, it was pretty slim.
  • pcironepcirone Member Posts: 346
Wow my closest Walmart was completely restocked today (1-5-12) of most everything, even sets that I hadn't seen before in any Walmart in clearance. A bunch was even 75% off.

I went back for a second cart full after this pic.
  • scratchdeskscratchdesk Member Posts: 155
Daaaaaaang.... I stopped by my closest one and everything is still the same prices. I think that it's up to the manager on discounts deeper than the 50%.
  • BTHodgemanBTHodgeman Member Posts: 622

Wow - Nice! Local Walmarts in my area are pretty bare. Well, actually, I returned a couple Cars Big Ben and a couple PQ Pyramids yeterday, so those are in stock at one store :P

The only thing I'm finding in stores for 50% off is some of the Ninjago $6.88 sets. Everything else has been sold out for about a week.
