    I am absent-minded sometimes...

I suppose Doom's tower might constitute a vignette.  Loki's throne (which wasn't based on any particular version, just 'parts I have to hand' plus 'don't block the view to the guys behind'; Doom's in front of Killian's speedboat, it's long enough that the Guy is out of the tower's 'shadow', shelf-space-wise) I'd say is more just a decorative base (he normally stands in front of it, rather than off to the side), and Magneto barely qualifies for the 'decorative' part.

I do have Goblin (I posted his glider a few pages back - couldn't find the nose-piece for the video game version), but Dark Reign notwithstanding I still feel he's in the niche of 'Spider-Man villain' (admittedly the Spider-Man villain) than Omega Level Bad Guy.  Of course one could say the same about Magneto being tied to the X-Men, but there's a lot of X-Men so he feels widespread as a threat anyway; and Doom, I know, generally is fixated on RICHAAAARDS!! the same way Norm is on Pete, but still, nobody puts Doctor Doom in the second row.  I could go on for some time but this isn't really the place, I ramble enough as it is.

Pretty cool, love how you've incorporated the trans-green parts on Doom's Fort. Might have to do something similar at some point with my favourites. As for Gobby's glider, I used the this one:

    http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3049b#T=P&C=86

The problem is, the trapezoid flag pieces I used were a rare part, not used in any sets & there are no longer any sellers on BrickLink with stock, so the choice for others would be to modify regular LBGrey flags or go with DBGrey trapezoid flags...

Building Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle #75104
I started on it last night, and I just continued to build some more of it. I have now finished the first four bags. The first wing, without the extendible top-half, is now mounted to the main fuselage.
This ship will have some big ass wings, once it is fully assembled. Huge!

Dug #7191 out of storage (after 13 years!) to display on our Lego shelves in the loft. Had taken it apart in chunks to make it "easier" to rebuild - ha ha, nope. Still had to flip through the instructions to figure it out. Sure the wings droop when together, the gears are a poor opening mechanism, the colors are a bit of a hodgepodge and R2 sits way too high but somehow I still love that thing! Had to swoosh it around a bit (might have been humming the music...) before placing the stand on the shelf.

Decided to build my older Star wars sets. About 7 in all from 2009-2015.

@lessjunkfood The wing droop is definitely unfortunate but the set is a classic! I bought that for $75 at KBToys when they were going out of business, along with #7181 for $35! Oh the days!

Building our Monster Fighters sets, a couple per week, in anticipation of Halloween. Next up: the Zombies (US Target exclusive) & Vampyre Hearse, then Ghost Train & Vampyre Castle.

Displaying them prominently in our main living area...if the wife disapproves, she hasn't said so yet.

@gelkster I am doing the same. All sets have been built and my daughter and I will be setting them up in our entry way! Should be a fun weekend.

Well, in recognition of TRU's Bricktober 2015 sets coming out, I just finished the fourth modular-sized rendition of the 2014 group. 1st was the Cinema, which I made into a duplex, then the City Hall, which I converted into a Library, then the Fire Station (converted into a Public Works Bldg.).
Since we already have multiple Pizza Joints, I made mine a Mexican food establishment (still utilizing the red, white, green theme). Tacos anyone?

Not me, watching my wife trying to build #30285 while its still in the bag, thanks to some of the recent conversations the thread Collecting Polybags.

    Little Scooby-Doo scenic base:

Just a bit of corridor from inside some spooooky mansion, using the knight and painting from #75904 Mystery Mansion (since they'd both be inside the mansion, and thus not visible while it's on display anyway).  That one floorboard is a different shade on purpose; not sure why, it just seemed the thing to do.

  • AanchirAanchir Member Posts: 3,037
I've been on a bit of a Steven Universe fix lately, so lately I've been trying to build some of the characters at miniland scale. It's tough, especially considering that a lot of them use fairly rare colors as far as LEGO is concerned. But I've done an OK job building the heads of Garnet and Amethyst.

I also recently built a couple robot/doll-like figures on LDD. 14 modules / 11.2cm / 4 and 3/8 inches, so a bit taller than a miniland scale adult. I built an approximation of the female figure IRL today using parts from Master Wu Dragon and the Wolf Legend Beast, among others. But it might be a while before I take any photos, so here's a screenshot of the digital versions of both figures.

I haven't done nearly as much MOCing this year as I should, so it feels good to create stuff again!

Just finished the smallest of the ep 7 sets Rey's Speeder, great little build for the money. Packs amazing detail and fantastic when finished, both mini figs are pretty good to. Well worth £20 in my opinion. Have the first order snowspeeder to do next, then might have to buy a few more of the more expensive sets.

Working on wrapping up a Halloween themed area for our LUG's train layout at a show this weekend. Built a base for the HH to rest in and will have lots of Halloween CMF activity going on around the area.

Went to the Lego store on the weekend, my wife saw Santa's Workshop on display and said "you should get that one" (first time that has happened). I said "well it is already in our closet" (along with all the other WV buildings, as yet unopened). So now we are going to build them together for the holidays :-)

Thank you for the kind words.  I'll continue to post more as I get sections cleaned up and ready for photos.

I have been meaning to post photos for years, but as we complete one section, our building skills improve, and then we end up completely redoing another area again.  And this cycle seems to just keep repeating.  But that is the joy of LEGO!

By the way, this is something I do with my two boys, currently 15 & 12.  My 15 year old has been fighting with his 'dark ages' for about 2 + years, hopefully my youngest son can hold out longer!

Guess who just bought a really overpriced minifig...

Scenic (or somewhat anti-scenic, as per Aperture's style) base for Chell; there are (no doubt) many like it, but this one is mine.  I know red isn't the right colour for the activation strip, but I don't have enough amber (haven't since Buffy season six, but that's neither here nor there), and all the cyans got used on Ky's Ultra Agents truck.  I am keeping the turret as well, I just didn't want to have it on the same base as Chell, because... well, it's a turret.

Fun fact, one of those white uprights still has a reward notice for Captain Brickbeard on the back.  Arguably one of the more ordinary things to be found on the reverse side of the Enrichment Centre walls.

Yes — I believe it's just a molding mark. Mine has it too.

I built #70751 Temple of Airjitzu yesterday with my brother! It was an incredible experience! This is a set I'm going to probably want to keep on display in the long term. :)

Same with mine. I'm not entirely sure why. It doesn't look like it's pre-assembled from multiple pieces but it does look like the front left side of the head and the rest were at one point separate sections.

If i had to guess, I'd guess that maybe the head is overmolded like some of the Simpsons minifigure head pieces that have the hair and/or glasses molded separately from the rest of the head. It would be unusual to do this with a head that's entirely one color and one material, but I suppose molding it as one solid chunk of plastic would not be possible as it wouldn't cool properly, so instead it's molded a section at a time.

^I was typing something and accidentally hit post so had to "edit" the best I could. You really should be able to edit your own threads better.

Anyway, I am currently building this:

Which was inspired by @snowhitie  's build here:

I was looking at hers and the idea to make a similar setup but one that could open popped into my head. Mine isn't going to be exactly the same but I'm giving her credit for the initial design. And I want her to know that if she hadn't posted her build I wouldn't have thought to make mine so there is a reason to share with everyone else because who knows what you will inspire someone else to do.

My version is really rough right now. I use the "build it then take it apart and build it again" technique. I got to the point where I was just using bricks I had at hand and will replace later. Plus I have ideas on how to decorate the walls which will also require switching out bricks. Just thought I'd share at this stage so I could post it in the "What are you building right now?" thread. :)

The best possible edit you could come up with was 0;[ ?!  What even is that?

P.s. I like this build.  HH is too expensive so something along these lines is on my to do list.

I got nothin' on @danstraindepot (that's just crazy good!) but I'm still proud to reveal my first LEGO display shelf! I didn't build it, but I did rescue it. It had been in a barn for years, so I cleaned, sanded, painted, and installed the lights. Monster Fighters is our household favorite, and I feel like I've finally given it a worthy place. It won't last long up there though, it begs to be played to pieces. But I'm super excited to now have a dedicated place for displaying! It might be what finally gets me into the modulars...
