It's kind of unusual — I half expected the LEGO Group's presence at NYCC to increase more considerably in size this year, since last year NYCC actually surpassed SDCC in terms of total attendance numbers. But maybe the LEGO Group still expects SDCC to get more press coverage for one reason or another. After all, the media buzz is a big reason why they attend these sorts of events in the first place.
I expect one or two exclusives, but not sure for what themes. Another exclusive Bionicle mask would be pretty cool, but I think licensed themes like LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Super Heroes will probably get priority this year.
I would also expect some new set reveals, but not sure for which themes specifically. I strongly doubt the LEGO Group will dedicate their presence to any one particular theme as they did last year. Seeing at least one more of the LEGO Star Wars buildable figures from the January wave (like the First Order Stormtrooper revealed at SDCC) would not surprise me. Like perhaps Kylo Ren. Seeing another LEGO Super Heroes set, or perhaps the full version of the Batmobile set revealed at SDCC, would also not surprise me.
In terms of other LEGO partners, not sure what to expect. It'd be cool to get more news about the upcoming LEGO graphic novels from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, but they do not appear to have a booth, so the only chance of that is really if they gave LEGO material to distribute at their booth (I believe that's what they did at SDCC this year, with a short preview of the Ninjago graphic novel).
Looking forward to more news!
As for exclusives, I hope it's nothing I want.
Superheroes and Doctor Who would break me!!
The overall size of the booth doesn't seem much different than it was at last year's NYCC. Not sure if that's any indication of what kind of exclusives might be available.

The odd nice part but it's probably not for me! They say it is modern, but it looks very 1980s to me.
I have a little more interest in some of the "baddies" sets as they seem to be more magic/fantasy based so would likely be more useful to me personally.
Though the 90's did have some great little accessory molds and I can see that here too. The new book piece looks a lot better than the old one and some of those armor pieces would be great for sci fi builds.
If you follow the gizmondo link in CCC's post, you can see the robo horse that comes with the Jestro set, it looks pretty awesome. And that is definitely a huge bat winged demon pulling Jestro's war wagon, flaming scythe and all. The brick built power armor looks cool too, kinda reminds me of the mobile infantry suits from Starcraft II.
The booth looks very fun, wish I could have gone this year! To everyone that got to go, hope you had a great time!
McFarlane has a ton of new "building" toys out. They look great, but do not mix well with LEGO. They are giving a ton of stuff for free. No freebies at LEGO.
Havent been to Mega Bloks yet, but looks like they're promoting Star Trek and something else.
But the big wall parts are a bit concerning. Maybe LEGO is targeting a bit lower in regards to age range, like the Imaginext/LEGO Juniors range. :)
You're right that a similar shape and size to those large wall panels could probably be achieved with smaller parts. Which leads me to wonder what they might be used for in other sets. I can't imagine LEGO would have designed a part like that only planning to use it in one set. Of course, large wall panels have been a big part of Castle sets for many decades, so maybe they just felt like a futuristic Castle theme needed a design that felt more futuristic.
Here's a nice big picture of Fortrex, btw: http://data.techtimes.com/data/images/full/149037/70317-the-fortrex-jpg.jpg Those little lava dudes are adorable!

The one with the villain in the jester outfit is a bit creepy. Looks like Harley Quinn after year on meth. :)
In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind a western theme with a robotic spin, as long as they took it in a SteamPunk direction...
My guess is that they will be recognized by an app. They seem to have been designed to have a well defined shape marker around the edge.
The majority really do look more useful as Sci-fi parts packs though, not necessarily a bad thing, but unless there's a new licenced theme to cover the castle/historical/fantasy end a bit better ahead then it's a bit of a disappointment for those wanting to build more traditional castle scenes.
I'm sure it'll sell well and bring joy to many.
The real news out of NYCC is that MegaBloks has reacquired the license for Star Trek and has some very nice-looking models lined up for next year's 50th anniversary of the original series.
Probably though I seem to recall MegaBloks' Pirates of the Caribbean line (which they had before Lego acquired it) garnering some attention too.
