Next Creator Expert Set

So, this thread is merely speculation. What do you think the next Creator Expert set will be? This can be the next vehicle, modular, fairground set, or anything else. So far I've come up with:
Vehicle- I'm hoping for some kind of modern sports car or hypercar. Not like the Ferrari F-40 but like a Lamborghini or a newer Ferrari
Modular- I saw on Brickipedia under the Creator theme that there will be a set next year called the delicatessen. This would be a sensible modular since Lego City is sadly lacking in restaurants. I can totally see a corner model with a deli and two apartments above it
Fairground- In both the Fairground Mixer and Ferris Wheel there has been an outline of a roller coaster in the background. This is probably the best thing they could add right now
Other- I'm hoping that Lego will make more large-scale Creator Expert style sets for themes not usually used for them like the Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu.

I would like to see either a corner Bank Mod, or another Mod like the Pet shop design (Townhouse with a small shop next door).

i want a modular arcade where we can change out the machines

This might have been said before, but a modular train station. Something like grand central, or Waterloo, etc. If it could fit...

Or, a modular car/motorbike showroom would be pretty awesome. Again, if it could fit...

I'm not sure how a train station would fit it as all the other modulars face the street. Putting a train track in front would well... be tricky. I could see a sky train or monorail fitting in some how but even then the track would have to leave the 32x32 plate. Maybe something more like a bus terminal or something along that line would fit in better.

I myself would love to see maybe a hospital (even city has only done 2 of those) and museum would be interesting... I guess we will just have to see. ;)

As for a new fairground model, I would like a roller coaster with a cotton candy stand (how has a cotton candy stand not been in the last two sets!)

I see your point. Maybe the track could be at the back of modular. Like, it would be a terminating station if that makes sense? It might still not work, but that's how I thought of it in my head haha!

Really? Cafe Corner and Parisian Restaurant, plus there is already a food shop (Green Grocer). 3/10 isn't bad.

It'll be time soon for another big Sculptures / Landmarks set, any news on what's likely to succeed Sydney Opera House / Tower Bridge ?
  • RebelegoRebelego Member Posts: 171
For a vehicle, I would like to see a 1920's style car. Or even like a ford model T. Something like that. That would be different from the others but still iconic.

St Basil's cathedral. good luck to the designers :-p

What about a modular like detective office that focuses more on creating an ambiance and telling a story?

I was first thinking about something industrial, but that may be too gritty for the serie, but an hotel would fit (I know it's been done, though this one would have rooms Inside). Hotels can hold all kind of secrets.

A train - don't care what kind, but none of the recent City trains have appealed particularly and a Creator set is 'overdue' (in as much as there might be any release pattern!)

Seems like LEGO has closed the book on trains for a while, #60098 heavy haul train non-withstanding as I do not consider that an investment of LEGO into trains again, not at 199.99 USD for what appears to be less in it than #60052

Would be nice to see another steam loco being made to display next to the #10194

lego city trains cost a fortune and don't even look near as good as creator trains. too bad the horizon express already sells for a little fortune, it's not even very old...

I had to fork over 200 back in February. I made the error of waiting too long too buy and I couldn't let it get out of my hands.

Anyway, what I would like to see is another train set, preferably a steam engine since the last 2 were diesel, and also a modular building with a sweet shop or book store or record store.

     Or a streamline Western J 611

31050 Corner Deli is not the modular.  It's on par with the Toy & Grocery Shop Creator set.  Maybe a few more pieces.  Actually looks more like a modular than the predecessors.  About 16x20 baseplate size (when opened), so halfway between a mini-modular and a real modular.  It looks like it hinges open to only 90˚ to form a "corner" rather than opening 180˚ like most.

I had to have a look myself bc the suspense was killing me. The Deli appears to be everything I was hoping for. Much more in line with the Cafe / Bike Shop than this years Grocer/Toy Shop aestically speaking. Im really excited for this one.

I thought all the creator sets looked pretty great though. This theme never disappoints. No figs to chase. No crappy ass stickers. Just good old fashioned building.

Have to admit, while I don't usually find much too get excited by in the City/Creator range, the Corner Deli looks pretty good. Nice colour scheme and I can see it being modded quite easily to fit a modular street.

Weren't there rumours floating around that the next big 'landmark' set was to be Elizabeth Tower (aka Big Ben / St Stephens Tower / Palace of Westminister)  - or has that been debunked now?
  • DadsAFOLDadsAFOL Member Posts: 617
Elizabeth Tower may still be in the works.  There are 8-10 UCS/D2C sets released very year.  Before Lego fixed the magic URLs people found 5 or 6 placeholder set numbers.

I would love Big Ben but has this story even come from more than one person?
  • lego187lego187 Member Posts: 16
Could the next modular be a candy store/sweet shop? I am kind of thinking this because it would compliment the Detective's Office very well since they were all about sneaking around sweets to people.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,241
It would have to be a bakery - as the intrigue revolves around clandestine cookies.

I'm all about a Corner Bakery.
  • CircleKCircleK Member Posts: 1,055
Not sure how we could have a candy/sweet shop in Modular town now that we know sweets have been outlawed.  Unless of course, the shop is licensed to distribute for medicinal purposes only.

^ That's a good point.  Maybe a Family Medicine/Doctor's Office for monitoring everyone's insulin and blood sugar levels?

That got boring.  But now the CMF Nurse and Doctor would have somewhere to go.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
Or a gym to keep to the correct body proportions. Everyone in Lego City manages to do it.

Maybe the sweets prohibition has been repealed by the 21st Lego amendment.

Number on my list is still a natural history museum with a T-Rex out front or in the lobby. Adding a "When Dinosaurs Ruled the World" banner would be a great touch.

I have championed the idea of a hospital in the mod line before, but seeing how hard it is to get a LEGO bank or a Hospital just in the city line I have kinda given up on this idea. I would think a Police HQ would be out before a Hospital.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
I don't think City is a good indicator of what LEGO will do with the modular line. The theme(s) of the last three modulars certainly aren't well-represented in City.
  • TigerMothTigerMoth Member Posts: 2,343
Hospitals tend to be sprawling independent affairs, not something that's wedged into a street - which is what the modulars are all about.

A bank is an obvious candidate, but I have a feeling that it would end up being too much like Gringott's in #10217, even though that's not a modular.

A police station? Municipal buildings tend to be similar - and we've already got a town hall and a fire station.

There's an increasing amount of detail in the modulars, so it needs to be something that can have a lot of "fiddly bits" - perhaps a shop or a workshop. A hairdresser's might've appealed to the ladies, but we've now got a barbershop.

The modulars are also relatively timeless, so anything that's obviously too modern (by design or by function) is probably out. That probably means any buildings inspired by Friends.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
I think LEGO likely wants to do a Police HQ, however I think the backlash would be evident in that while a police HQ mod would likely be nice, it would be a pretty bland looking building I think. I'm also guessing that people have seen enough police depts that they may not want to splurge on a 159.99 USD one for 5 years.
A bank could be bland too, but they could always make it look somewhat opulent.
