I suppose that means it'll be pumpkin-colored or stick to the 'Peanuts' color scheme?

Maybe Lucy blue or Peppermint Patty green...

At least a lot of white bricks.....and a hugely inflated disney RRP.

I guess around 1500 bricks and a RRP of 220€, like medieval market village...

    wait, that one wasn't 220€?

Sure it's more likely to be a 'large' Hoth playset that includes a Snowspeeder?

@SumoLego You're about to get what you want.

Hard to tell exactly from what I've been sent if this is the "Hoth" set, or whether Hoth has just been used as a placeholder name all this time, but it rather looks like a UCS snowspeeder is to be released shortly.

    Interesting @iso3200, thanks.

I'd really like to see an updated UCS Snowspeeder this year.  The original version has a certain amount of old-school 'charm' but it does look rather dated compared to the new X-Wing and Slave 1.  That would be a first day purchase for me :-)

I highly doubt it is another UCS snowspeeder. Too much of Hoth Echo Base to do without needing yet again another snowspeeder.
Unfortunately you are thinking like a hardcore fan and not a TLG bean counter. They don't care about releasing a complete SW universe, they care about making money.  And while a small diehard group of fans highly desire things like shield generators, blast doors, and ion cannons, those things don't have widespread appeal nor much in the way of play features

if iso3200 is correct, it would be an unsurprisingly LEGO thing to do

The name may be a placeholder for an eagerly anticipated UCS Bacta Tank with injured Luke and exclusive 2-1B surgical droid minifigures.

It depends how many Power Functions they manage to add to either of them... just think a UCS set with adjustable flaps and harpoon, and maybe LEDs in the cannon.  I loved my old Kenner version, although the sound effects weren't that pleasant to listen to if I recall correctly!

Lego is aimed at kids though. Kids don't want a display model they want something to play and interact with minifigures fighting and action features. UCS sets don't sell as well as regular Star wars sets that's a fact. Like I said, I highly doubt another UCS ship.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
Of course they don't, they are $200+ each. I'm not saying a UCS model would sell better than a large playset or has more play features, just saying logic like "well they haven't done a proper Hoth yet" isn't valid reasoning to use to expect them too.  I'm guessing the x wing, slave 1 and TIE probably sell better than EV and Sandcrawler, so that very well might make them more likely to do a speeder instead of a base.  Even if they do a base, it's going to be play centric, and people are gonna moan about the lack of "proper"doors, a shield generator, and probably the ion cannon too

That is interesting news @iso3200, although we have it from a very reliable source that the set is exactly what we saw in the recent video on the LEGO Star Wars website.

However, I would prefer a UCS Snowspeeder, so fingers crossed!

I don't see why a snowspeeder would be a good choice if it was hoth based I would pick a big base playset or a AT-AT, think a snowspeeder would sell as well as the b-wing.

  • BACbrixBACbrix Member Posts: 655
Maybe a potential of two Hoth sets? A speeder to augment the base perhaps? How large can a snow speeder be that costs $250? They will make it too large in comparison to other UCS sets if it has too many parts.
  • iso3200iso3200 Member Posts: 2,065
@CapnRex101 I'm thinking there are two different release slots to fill.
  • playwellplaywell Member Posts: 2,304

Do we have any dates for these sets?

  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
@iso3200 - You could well be right. There is talk of a UCS set release in January but LEGO stores are still expecting a D2C Star Wars set in October/November as I understand it.

    Ewok Village.

I think that at the $250+ price point, the market will sustain two Star Wars playsets.  So if they retire the Ewok Village, I would expect another playset, rather than a UCS vehicle or statue.

I'd much rather see a large playset based on one of the new planets featured in the new film.

I hate people that just post, I want information, I want pictures but I have to say I want information, I want pictures. Seeing news for 75827 - Ghostbusters HQ made me wonder why we have so little confirmed news on this set. We know there is a set but we dont know when it will be released and even what it is. I guess it is just the waiting game for now. Like @monkey_roo I have most hoth sets but only from 2009 so I dont have the 2007 Hoth Rebel Base and becasue 2011 Echo Base was not great I dont feel like I have that one great Hoth set that I want. Really looking forward to this one but I am getting a bad feeling that it will just be a snowspeeder or that the set will be disjointed. I am dont have a star wars d2c with year as I only really get play sets so I have ewok village and sandcrawler, I am likeing getting one eact year so really hope this is a 2015 set as silly as that sounds.

    So do I :-)

Just reporting what I was fed - as sometimes other posters chime in and corroborate info. I was fishing for Hoth and was told that a UCS snowspeeder was coming. Same source that told me about the DA 6 months early and also the UCS Tie for May 4th - so I believe what I was told. Whether this means it's a big standalone Snowspeeder or whether its going to be a super rendition in a Hoth playset remains to be seen.

I was told things have moved around on the release schedules - 75098 is currently slotted for May 2016. This could tie up with the Ghostbusters HQ being the big release for Jan - which I definitely wasn't told about. No name for the new modular but street price of £119.95, which is good. Not sure where a SW D2C October set fits into all this though.

Also have been confirmed that the Death Star will be updated. New set number and minifigs but no other info. I was volunteered this - I hadn't asked about DS at all. This ties up with what has been previously reported on Eurobricks.

It makes sense to re-do all of the UCS sets since fans from 10 years ago wouldn't have them that are just now getting into the hobby. It is unfortunate to keep having re-dos but it does make sense. Plus, I don't know how much it affects the previous versions in the aftermarket.

So is the 119.95 price good for a modular? I only know USD at $160 these days. How different is that?
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
    If the modular is smaller...

  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
I'd buy two new UCS Snowspeeders.

Personally, I think as a SW vehicle it's just as iconic as the X-Wing or Tie Fighter.  (Not quite a Slave 1, Falcon or Star Destroyer, but an excellent display piece.)

Didn't get around to building the original version before the aftermarket took over.
  • playwellplaywell Member Posts: 2,304

Thanks for the info @iso3200, so do we think there will not be another d2c this year? I don't have anything against a d2c snowspeender although we have had one before unlike the base. A Death Star with updated figures is also on my wish list so that's good news for me although a bit worried at what the new price would be.

  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
    Same price point, I'm sure.

Better have a special Death Star Aunt Beru!
  • iso3200iso3200 Member Posts: 2,065
^^Using the set number hack, the only one I can find is the known set number

    http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/This-is-placeholder-text-75098?p=75098

So if they're planning a snowspeeder, a hoth set and a death star, currently only one out of the three is showing with a slot on the website - and I was told May for this one.

I'd be more than happy to look like a total bell end though ;-) All three sets would be good after all.

  • playwellplaywell Member Posts: 2,304

And that is the $250 set according to brickset which would fit best with a Hoth base, we know the death star would be more and I would guess that a snowspeeder would be less. Guess its back to waiting.

  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229

Either way, I would expect the Ewok Village to be a goner in the new year.

And I'm going to grab another UCS Sandcrawler, just in case.  (Although it's a vehicle and a UCS, it feels more like a playset to me...)

  • LobotLobot Member Posts: 1,029

    Credit to peffour on EB....

Details of the 2016 are available online.  In particular, there's a Snowspeeder (75144) and a 'Hoth Attack' (75138) so we may be in for a snowy winter after all!  There isn't any price quoted for the Snowspeeder, so it's still anyone's guess as to the size of it.

  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
^ That's a pretty pedestrian vehicle.  One of the principle characters perhaps has a more interesting vehicle that we haven't seen.

I doubt any of us would be rushing out for a UCS Landspeeder...

Honestly I'd rather see a base of some sort similar to the Ewok Village than a new Snowspeeder, but that's because I think they're still missing a lot of ships they could be doing a UCS version of.

    Mainly I really want a UCS A-Wing.

Is that going to be a UCS set, or just a smaller rehash similar to 75003?

If it's a UCS I'd be getting it day one for sure.

UCS snowspeeder would be nice! No chance of snapping up an original! Unlikely minifigure scale though which would make it a lonely display piece although tbf we don't really need to see another Luke and or R2D2 minifugure release.

It's bad enough TLG rehashed the Snowspeeder like 8 billion times. Do we need another rehash of the UCS? Boooooring! Way to be original LG....way to be original. How about ANO UCS set.

I dunno... I had completely forgotten what the UCS Snowspeeder looked like, and upon looking it up to get a better idea of what a new UCS Snowspeeder would be replacing... it looks rough as heck. Like, even more so than the original UCS X-Wing. To the point where even if I had it, I might have second thoughts about displaying it next to the more recent UCS sets, just because of how bad it looks.

We typically get, what, two UCS sets per year? I don't see why one of those can't be sacrificed to give some of those blocky old models a much-needed update.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Because a rehash or re-release from an Exclusive line like UCS SW or Modular or Creator Expert is a travesty. Just like it is for the Winter Village Toy Shop. Should we go over that point again?

No offence to the haters but the original UCS snowspeeder (much like 7181,7191) is truly a thing of beauty in the flesh (or the brick if you look at things that way). Not a single new mould produced for it. Some very complex Angles created with some VERY old school bricks and building techniques... Accurate? Maybe not so much. Incredible for the parts and techniques of its time? DEFINITELY!
