    Think Lego really misjudged this one, could have sold well as a set and would have also help sell more tumblers too.

    Exactly. LEGO seems to know what they were doing. Although, it probably did stimulate some sales in the summer that normally doesn't happen.

    All parts ordered from various sellers and Lego directly, total came to around £70 including shipping so not too bad I reckon,looking forward to building it!

    I had six of those Hero Factory shields in my bricks and pieces cart last night.  I filled out the cart with a few other items, hit checkout, and the order disappeared.  I went to go and add the shields back to my cart, and it was out of stock already.

    Did anyone happen to order extras that they are willing to sell to me?  I know it's a long shot, but I figured I'd still ask.

    I've got the tires now thanks to @hoodaddy ... are these hero factory shields the other pieces I need to be concerned about immediately acquiring?

    Unfortunately, I just gave away my spare set to @jadeirene. Hopefully you can source them from somewhere. I have a hunch that TLG will end up having more available through "Bricks and Pieces." I would suggest checking back there from time to time. Sorry...

    Yes...The part number is #4623002, and you will need six of them. I have a hunch these will appreciate like the solid black windscreen pieces did on the original Lego Tumbler set #7888...IF Lego doesn't make anymore. But I'd be surprised if TLG didn't make more of these HF parts to allow people to build their own Bat-Pod sets. In fact, it would be kind of sadistic if they didn't.

    Would it be? It's not exactly normal for LEGO to produce new parts that they're not currently using in sets. This part has not been available in any set other than the Bat-Pod (Bionicle, Star Wars, or otherwise) since last year. I personally don't see them producing more of this part unless they decide to use it in future constraction sets. That's still a very real possibility (after all, the Darth Vader constraction set uses a 5x5 spherical shell on its shoulders that hadn't shown up in sets in over a year prior), but even then there's no guarantee it'd be in the same color.

    That might be an option if you're not too concerned about how authentic it looks. But metallic colors can be difficult to match with spray paint. I guess there aren't any other Titanium Metallic parts in the set it has to be matched to, though, and some people have already opted for a simpler black.

    Here's something sort of ironic: back when the online Pick-A-Brick still carried Hero Factory parts, this part was one of the ones available from there. The main reason Pick-A-Brick stopped carrying Hero Factory parts in general (and most other Technic parts, for that matter) was that compared to the more traditional bricks, most buyers didn't have any idea how to use them. And yet all it took was ONE System set using this part to drive demand for two different colors of it through the roof!

    I am astonished at how quickly this went up.  There's even one with nearly a $5k buyout!  I was on the fence about selling it or keeping it, but this will actually help me in many ways to sell it(i.e. buying several large sets that I would never be able to afford otherwise, plus paying off bills, plus giving a large chunk to the wife to let her know that my Lego collecting is all worth it lol)

    I am definitely going to wait until I have it in hand however.  I want to sell it honestly and with proof.  I'm sure these others are, but if it comes damaged, I want it to be legitimate in all ways.
    That was mine actually. I feel bad for 'feeding the beast' so to speak, but when I saw what they were going for I couldn't responsibly keep the set. As a poor grad student with some credit card debt (a non-significant portion from LEGO collecting...) I needed the money.

    So the eBay sales are really real (already been paid via PayPal). I am a little bit concerned about making sure the package arrives in good shape, but I'll be honest with the buyer if something goes wrong and refund if I have to. I've never had an issue with anything direct from LEGO/FedEx at my current location though.

    Honestly it just crossed my mind yesterday to see what they were going for, and I was shocked. Way more than I expected. If it was a couple hundred I probably still would have felt like I had to sell. I saw a bunch listed for $2500 so I slightly undercut to see if anyone would bite. Went quickly. Still worried about it being for real until the set is here and the money is in my real bank account (and then right onto my CC payment)!

    The person who sold the BrickLink version for $500 re-listed the item, with the additional info:

    "I'm relisting because the previous buyer refused to pay. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY."

    You'll also note it says it will ship within 30 days... meaning the seller is waiting for BrickLinked parts to arrive.

    I clicked on the 'report item' that is just above the right side of the item.  You can report it as being counterfeit.  I put something about how this person is not including the box or instructions and shipping with delay because they are selling pieces and not the authentic set.  Perhaps if a lot of us do the same on this one and the other, they will get taken down and possibly banned.

    Caveat Emptor, A fool and his money and all that stuff. If you are willing to spend that kind of coin in the first place, you had darn sure better know what you're doing and what you are buying. 

    It's not a counterfeit if it is bricklinked parts. A little "dickish" to not be fully transparent in that regard? Yes. But not counterfeit. Remember what your pops always said. If something looks too good to be true, it probably isn't true (unless you are @samiam391 and have a nose for legit deals =).

    There's a lot of the same thing going on with the SDCC Batmobile and I'm sure many other limited edition sets. They are PayPal claims just waiting to happen.

    Indeed I will. I already checked with the buyer to make sure they'd be okay with that (needing to be there to sign for it) and they're in agreement.

    Working from home today to make sure nothing happens to the package on its arrival!

    Haha. I irrationally freaked out after I gave the buyer the current tracking number that he might do that. The plane from NJ to South Bend might be cheaper...

    Mine just arrived. It's in fine shape, no dents or anything, however this was the first things I've ever received from LEGO with absolutely zero packing material. The outer brown box is barely larger than the set box, so I'll probably repack it in something nicer so it doesn't incur any bruises!

    Correct. All the e-mails to me had only listed the 750 in NA, so that's what I thought too.

    Sorry, I will admit a bit of 'sour grapes' here, but this just seems like that little VIP note should say: "POW! You are a LEGO VIP SUPERHERO!  LEGO congratulates you and the money you will make when you sell it!"

    I understand that not everyone can win and all of that, but when these things are going for this kind of insane money do they really think that many who won will keep theirs? (full disclosure: If I had won, I would definitely sell it that these prices). Also I wonder if this will give LEGO pause seeing that their VIP sweepstakes is not as much rewarding those who were picked with a great set, but primarily helping out those who were picked to resell to make money on it? (y'know, those re-sellers that do nothing but hurt their brand?)

    I guess LEGO cannot do much about it in the end, either do not do any such prizes, or limited releases, like this ever OR Just know that anything this rare will likely command large dollars and likely see many that win will simply flip it for a dollar.
