Halloween Seasonal Set?

ninababinaninababina ILMember Posts: 2
Does anyone know if there will be a Halloween set similar to the vignette seasonal sets they released earlier this year? Usually the Halloween set starts popping up in the Lego store around this time, or at least a pic.....

I'm hoping there is, I'm guessing there will be one for Thanksgiving and one for Halloween and one for Christmas, but that is just my guess.

They sound good! Are they vignettes like Painting Eggs and Valentine's Dinner ?

The vignettes this year have been wonderful! Definitely a trend I'd like to see continue.

That would follow last years trend where all the holiday sets were done by the same designer and matched.

That's quite disappointing compared to the previous 2.

    My daughter's reaction:

It doesn't look that good but it does have a red spider.

I think this is a missed opportunity to give us 1 or 2 more costumed minifigures plus more pumpkin buckets that the CMF skeleton suit guy is coming with.  Putting a witch hat and broom on a minifigure says lazy rather than Halloween.

What theme do these seasonal sets typically show up in on the [email protected] sites?

I like it. Yes, it could have been better, the trick or treater bucket was likely not available for this set, and the minifigures could have been made more interesting, but the others from this year all used existing parts.

the set actually looks everso slightly better than I imagined it would.

Nice!  I kind of like it. Looking forward to picking it up.

May have to reassemble my Valentine's Day And Easter sets to display them all.

Well I'm not hugely impressed with the Halloween set, but will get one to complete the set for the year.
Because the first sets did have a rare part or two in them like the sand green masonry brick for the valentines day set, and the chicken in the Easter set. Not to say there could be no 'rare' part in this Halloween set. But there appear to be some neat parts in it.

My daughter just said... why is it a skeleton? It's not even a person in a costume its just bones...

I assumed it was like one of the haunted house decoratio things you can get that make it look like a Skeleton opening the door.

I actually like it a lot. At the very least, I think it's better than last years sets.

Id rather see a skeleton than another flipping vampire in one of these sets.
Then again I would also taken a 'person' under a ghost shroud piece

I remember back in 1998 how the entire LEGO fan community (Rec Toys LEGO)... was abuzz about how the first time orange LEGO was introduced in a Target exclusive Halloween bucket.... the very first Halloween set.... 3047

By today's standards this would be considered lame, and with only 1 minifig, but back then (1998) the explosion of new LEGO colors had just begun.

Fast forward 17 years, and the build of new sets seem almost secondary to whatever minifigs come with it.   Have minifigs so taken over the entire LEGO System... that a significant number of opinions are based on them?

    Not complaining... just an observation....

I wonder what the other side of that thanksgiving one looks like...there's clearly a pitchfork on the wall.
  • ricardo616ricardo616 Member Posts: 44
Hmm, I feel like the designer wasn't a huge Halloween fan, as the Valentines, Easter and now Thanksgiving sets are much better in design and detail. I would have preferred a realistic front porch, with a few "spooky" decorations, plus maybe the new Jack O'Lantern piece from the Scooby-Doo sets. It's very disappointing to me, since I'm a huge Halloween nut.

The Halloween set looks more like a Haunted House rather than a Trick or Treat house. Should be a scared kid/skeleton or happy kid/costumed treat giver. Happily, we can do either or both with the new CMF series!
  • ecmo47ecmo47 North CarolinaMember Posts: 2,101
By the way, since Thanksgiving is a very American holiday, how popular is that set to the rest of the world?
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332
its close enough to christmas, and similar enough to a christmas dinner that a dinner table one will do ok, not sure about the turkey we had last year though.

Love the Thanksgiving Set!  My favorite part of these sets (sans Trick or Treat) is the ability to pop them in an unfurnished Lego room for detail. Looking forward to seeing the Christmas version.

I was wondering when the next seasonal vignette would arrive and it looks disappointing. I'll pick one up for completeness, but it seems to miss the mark compared to the previous two and the next in line Thanksgiving set. It doesn't seem to fit...

    1. Outside background compared to indoor setting. It might have looked more consistent if they flipped the perspective, and turned the scene around. Maybe another outdoor scene will balance things out in the future.
    2. Two vs 1.5 Minifigures. I don't consider a skeleton a complete minifigure. Sort of like SW battle droids... I don't mind the weak constume since the series 14 will fill that gap.
    3. Accessories are good. Black cat would have been nice.

The Halloween one does a feel a little incomplete, but I think for me it's because of the skeleton as opposed to a mini-figure in a skeleton costume.

I will still get it for completeness. It looks like it has some nice translucent purple pieces.

I wonder when it will show up? They didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked about it in the Leeds store.....

Just left my store they had been stocking all morning. I bought the Halloween set and the city advent. They also got a lot back in. Scooby, Jurassic and Simpsons house.  They were also feeling the new minifigure bags to put out for display. I waited on those cause my fiancé and I like to collect those together and feel the bags. But they are available for purchase. Pretty successful visit today.  They also told me they got in their Star Wars sets and that a couple came in damaged.  Pretty successful visit

It looks to me like the designer is presenting us with situational irony: trick-or-treater dressed up in costume gets the scare as opposed to giving it when she comes across a house with a real monster. I like the concept.

The design of the house is odd and distracting. The angles of the roof and the purple elements don't make sense to me.

I'm kinda glad I missed out on the valentines set now, so I don't feel the need to buy this one "out of completeness".

I'd actually love a scared minifig with and 'electrified' hair piece. It'd be a riot.

Tons of these available at the St. Louis, MO Lego store!

I put this together tonight. I actually enjoyed it as much as the others from this year. The classic Halloween scene is at the door, so I get why they went witht eh outdoor instead of indoor approach. I do think, though, it would have been interesting to have had the inside scene, with the person opening the door to give out candy to the kid waiting there.
