Target and their data handling practices are horrendous.  They made it very difficult to get the credit monitoring. Their red card is pathetic. You can't see what you bought on your statement?  Why can't they do that?  If the company goes down, there are still plenty of other stores to fill the gap. I won't shed a tear.

I think this thread has gotten more discussion about Targets practices and 'supposed' weekend losses than Target could even noticed in any profit reports/statements.  I used the 20% discount and saved $12 on 1 Lego.  I think we're giving ourselves and these forums a little too much credit and influence on the toy/Lego market.  So how much could Target have possibly lost?....with the 'unethical acts' of a few using the 20% discount on Lego.  Maybe $3-4million?  Maybe?  That's a lot of Lego sold in a couple of days for that to add up.  Maybe Target was just moving the clearance discount along (from 15% to 35% or 30% to 50%) or just giving you a 20% discount.  Or maybe Target knew that something like this would send enough of us over the edge not to shop there anymore because some of us are so disgusted, thus saving them even more millions of dollars.  That's probably what they were thinking.

^ Do you get an itemized list from the grocery store?  That's going to be a long, itemized statement even if you buy groceries there only twice a month.  Every apple, deodorant, candy bar, milk bought every month.  Maybe that's why you get a receipt.  Then again, I've never tried returning an item to the store with my credit card statement.  Walmart gives you a itemized list on their credit statements?  And if the "company does go down, there are still plenty of other stores to fill the gap", well...good luck with Walmart and KMart.....those companies run everything pretty ship-shape.  You shouldn't have a problem at all with those stores and finding all the LEGO you want and I couldn't imagine a better LEGO shopping experience.

I got the Lion Tribe Pack for $6.98 from a Target yesterday. I just need the Crocodile one now.

They also had the Mammoth for $44.98. I wanted to pull the trigger on that one, but I don't know that I'm that sold on the set either.

I just downloaded the Cartwheel app, but I can't seem to find the coupon everyone is talking about. Did it expire?

It did, on the 12th of July.

It's probably for the best. My bank account is still recovering after Comic-Con....

I found Benny's spaceship yesterday for $49.99- MN.

On Sunday I was with the family shopping the clearance toys. I picked up

    70169: Agent Stealth Patrol

it was marked on clearance for $34.99 down from $50. My wife used the cartwheel app, redcard, and her 5% pharmacy rewards when we checked out. I didn't expect cartwheel to apply to the Lego, but it did. The final cost was $24.99, 50% off. The set rang up as "building set" on the reciept, not Lego. I thought that might be why the cartwheel worked but now I'm seeing that other people ran into this too.

Same company that was asleep at the wheel while 70 million shoppers had their data breached. Same company that moved into, and out of, Canada, losing a small fortune.  And, same company that just banned hundreds of suspected resellers, over their inability to set purchase limits on things like Lily Wurlitzer exclusives.

If anyone deserves "punishment" for this snafu, it shouldn't be the customers - who are dedicated enough to download the app and, when possible, use their red card - but the programmers and sales heads who didn't exclude Lego (and other toys) from the discounts.

Unless it TRULY was an Easter Egg of sorts...

Anyways, who "killed" on this deal? I'd like to hear some really good pickups from people who haven't yet posted theirs!

Wow a lot of hate for Target. Shop at Walmart with the rest of the zombies.

I don't think it's much hate as much as not feeling guilty using a coupon they released despite the fine print saying LEGO is excluded (but they weren't).

In the amateur division, I was happy to pick up a few copies of BoFA for $40.98 before 20% discount and 5% REDCard.  $31.14  + tax for an MSRP $59.99 is a pretty decent score.

Shhhhhhhhhh.....actually didn't find anything Lego I wanted, but was happy to get 12 MLB mascot Oyos for $2.98, and only one double,  A's Stomper.  If I bought 12 CMF without the kids feeling for them, I'm sure half would have been doubles.  Got the blue box, too, lol!

I picked up the Batman/Penguin Face off for about 6.xx yesterday, and I got Batman/Angry Kitty at Walmart for $7. Not great deals, but they'd be gone otherwise.

I did see an Emmett Constructomech at a few Walmarts yesterday for $45, but that's still more than I want to pay for that set.

Came across my first example of Target price gouging tonight when I saw #76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue.  Note the original price:

No guilt here. Used the cartwheel on Sunday after matching tru sale prices on Star Wars minecraft and superheroes. Got 21116 for 31 each. At-at for 71 I believe. And the cantinas for 46 I believe. Hulkbuster was down to 20 if I recall after matching sales prices.
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,004
@motownjunk ....now go look what it sells for on target.com
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,004
Saw the $70413 Brick Bounty for $83.XX at one Target, thought about it, but them still said, nah.

    @ryjay Wow. :/

Like I said, first time I've come across such an example--this was in Fargo.  The two Targets here usually seem to have fair pricing, and there were other sets on clearance that were reasonable deals (such as #76013 The Joker Steam Roller).

#76021 Guardians of the Galaxy Milano Spaceship is down to $49. No need to hunt the clearance aisles, as Target.com also has them for the discounted price.

Not a bad price if you are wanting one to build. I haven't built mine yet, but I love the ship design / shape and expect it to be a fun build!

Great deal, I am surprised it's still available.

So frustrated at the person who got the last discounted Darkseid Invasion at Target in Cincinnati.  I was stalking that set for days.  Oh well!

Was able to find the same as above but was able to pick up a few Bennys Space Ship for $29.98 but the Metal Beards Duel #70807 were $17.48 (I still passed).  There were at least 50 of them, why I'm not sure.  Also found:

I found a dozen Benny's for $29.98. I already own and built, but picked up one to keep sealed for my collection. It's a great classic set.

^ I would have bought a few at that price! That set is excellent in itself and makes a great classic space parts pack!
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I would have had to talk myself out of buying them all at that price.

I only find deals like this when I'm with my wife. Arguing pursuing, and I try to explain the value of Classic Space, Lego Movie, alternative investment economics, etc. She gives up, and I end up buying 5-6 but in a separate cart. At this point, she doesn't want to be seen with me in the store or at check-up where I get a bunch of raised eyebrows.

This is a shot in the dark, but is there any chance anybody with access to these $29.98 Benny's Spaceships would be kind enough to pick one up for me? They have been sold out in my area for months and I really don't want to miss out or pay full retail price. I will compensate for all additional related costs (tax/shipping).
  • dragon114dragon114 Member Posts: 642
I would like one too for $30
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
    Who wouldn't?
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
Indeed, that's why I said its a long shot that someone would be willing to give one up. It just seems that a lot of people are reporting deals on this set and I figured I'd ask as there are rarely any good clearances where I live.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
Yeah. I rarely find anything good these days. My best (and really only real score) for three #7498 at $15 each. It was a $100 set. Checked three different price checkers because I couldn't believe it. Still have plans for a modern day Police Station modular MOC.

Benny's spaceship would be a great parts pack for classic space. Would pick up as many as I could find.... which will be none.

I wish i can find a Benny Spaceship for 29.98
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,004
According to Fyndly, one Target I saw had the Benny's Spaceship #70816 down to $23.98
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 375
I've found the site accurate about 90% of the time... it shows one store in my area with the ship for $29.98 for a couple of weeks, but if it is there, it is very well hidden. Likewise, it shows another store with zero stock of the Rapunzel tower, but there were at least 5 on the shelves.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
    No Benny's Spaceship within 100 miles :-)
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 1,015
Fyndly is hit/miss. It probably depends on when they update the inventory in their system.
  • SithLord196SithLord196 Member Posts: 1,161
I would love Benny's Spaceship for $30, but it's wiped out around here.

My three Targets and three Walmarts regularly get cleaned out of discount Lego, or at least the bigger resell items, pretty quickly.
