This is proof of how horrible people can be. Also interesting that they said LEGO has a high demand on the "black market." I'm sure what they meant was that the crooks would resell the sets for cheaper than RRP, but the way they phrased it has me picturing some shady characters trading drugs for LEGO in some fake alley.
that's kind of funny, the guys go in and out of the store multiple times with carts full of legos and no one notices it?
why are we so stupid to pay, when all you have to do is enter, grab what you want and leave?
It's different, and I didn't talk about poor people. A shop is a place meant to distribute goods. My home isn't, you can't come and take what you want, even if you pay what it is worth.
Anarchy is only the absence of a power above everything else, it doesn't exclude any type of organization or rules.
you must mean taking something that is the property of someone else.
I didn't say stealing was right btw
well, we're not on the same page, which I guess is normal since we're talking about a capitalist business, and I was thinking of other ways to define the property of means of production.
We had some Lego thieves that were involved in a high speed car chase.

A civilized society depends on the integrity of each individual. If that is lost with the majority, we will have anarchy.
Although I did see my local news telecast 'deers' recently.
I TiVo'ed it but nobody in my immediate family cared about the mistake.
And apparently free Lego.
Can we turn this back into snide comments about criminals begin caught stealing or trafficking Lego? (Legos... Legoes... Legeese... )
As for these thieves, they should, and likely will, see jail time. However I am torn between seeing people 'get justice' and subsidizing someones free room and three meals a day for a prolonged period when an assault was not involved. They should also have to perform community service. Like go to schools and explain that they are thieves and it is wrong, and make them do it for like 3 years.
Shame, it seems, is the only form of punishment most people fear these days.
good idea, if it is well prepared. children aren't stupid, they know stealing is wrong, but there are obvious benefits. it is understandable that kids from disadvantaged areas may find it tempting, not understanding why they have so little when some other kids can have absolutely all they want.
I dunno if people don't want to work, but they probably want to know that what they do is useful. if you work your ass off only to get everything taken away from you, you'll end up thinking, why even bother? and it seems it's happening to a lot of workers, we are asked to do always more efforts and are greeted by seeing our advantages disappear one after the others, because it will presumably save the economy (most likely after we will all be dead)
I have no idea why this guy would steal, though I would guess he paid his house with other people's works (or his profits in other words)
the value of money is a difficult subject, I would say it has no intrisic value. some people even consider money was created as a subtle way to plunder people. after all, how do you get people to work for you?
Reminds me of this crazy story: http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/VP-of-Palo-Altos-SAP-Arrested-in-Lego-Scam-152320475.html
And this dude could AFFORD them but just wanted to profit at a price.
He did what? Research please, reporters. -_- And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember there ever being a $279 Millennium Falcon. Still, what this guy did was unbelievable. I'm glad they caught him, but with the way security cameras are today, I'm surprised he wasn't caught sooner. And wouldn't the cashier notice a stickered on barcode where there shouldn't be one?
a friend of mine told me a story about how last year he paid for some stuff at tesco totalling about £3 with a £5 note, but needed a few 20p coins for a machine (I forget which one) and when he asked the cashier id he could have a couple of twenties in the change she actually handed him a couple of £20 notes. Being an honest sort he gave them back and corrected her or she could have been in some serious trouble when the discrepancy was noticed.
