Oh crap!
I've just built the Toy & Grocery Shop. I find it so cute, I've considered buying another one to make it more complete, but... nah, there are too many other sets that I want.
It's really an issue when there are so many nice sets to display and limited space (I'll have to decide to decide with my wife which sets to keep, but she would like to store most of them!)
I pimped it with an extra 4 cannons and a couple of crew members :)
Definitely GG looks the nicest, interior is kind of lacking though. Luckily for me I still have no desire for MS, CC, or FB yet. However, starting to change my mind on TH and GE (crap i know, resellers likely grinning).
My ? is at this point, is bricklinking a GG even worth it? Just buy one used/sealed? I'm not that keen on making parts substitutions/color changes like I had to w 10179, but there simply was no choice w that set...
GG is the nicest, most exquisite of all the modulars in my humble opinion, and I must have one ;)
Next up.... Either Slave 1 or Tie Fighter
The designer needs to take a look at himself :)
I built #75055 Star Destroyer last week, which it found pretty boring if I'm honest. I was building it and couldn't wait to finish. It looks good once finished but just boring to put together!
I ordered a heck of a lot of Lego at the weekend, which is now starting to arrive. The whole thing won't be finished until about November, when a lot of other parts will arrive. It should be ready to display at Brick 2015.
In the meantime, if anyone knows of good deals on 48x48 baseplates, please let me know! The current Amazon price of £9 each is more than I want to pay.
Just think, a single click and a few mins later, voila! I'd start with the triangle piece. There's no instructions anywhere for this one.
My lust for this set has finally been sated. Unlike others, I did not find the build boring.
Tonight I built the Trevi Fountain. It is so lovely! It's my first "Architecture" set, but probably not the last. I love everything about it, to the booklet and box. XD My only regret is that it's not bigger. Now I find myself fantasizing about a MOC version of it twice as big. XD I have neither the parts nor the talent to make it, but that would be awesome.
After spending all week trying to slowly introduce the new rabbit to our 2 current ones (tricky to avoid fighting initially between 2 girls), I finally got a chance to finish one of the wings. That new method of securing is absolutely rock-steady with no sagging under the wing's not unsubstantial weight. I was very impressed with the method of fitment.
Have you built either the UCS Advanced or Interceptor? Was looking for some commentary on how the new TIE stacks up against those in terms of the build experience.
Haven't built the older UCS Ties, but the build for all variants will be full of repetition - it's a ball with 2 sticks to 2 wings. :) The method of wing attachment on the new UCS Tieis so tight and solid, it's the little things like that which make you smile as you build it.
Displayed up on a top shelf I can spin the stand 90 degrees and have it pointing slightly downwards for when i'm looking up at it.
Just for your interest:-
done. Whew! The first pic shows what it will look like and the second shows how far I have done. Hopefully planning to sell when I complete. I just love making mosaics. :)
