Doesn't it sound reasonable that they're holding them for the June 2015 Batman: Arkham Knight game release? Or Lego Dimensions in Sept.?
The TRUs near me have not held them typically for a promotion, and they should put them on the shelf for all to buy, but that is a YMMV situation though as many store managers decided to limit the number purchased or kept them behind the counter to stop those from coming in and buying all of their allotment.
They have a display stand/box for Polys and every time I've gone in the last 6 months (maybe longer) that's all they've had
Nevermind just check, someone is reporting the Electro is available in TRU stores now

Can you purchase items(specifically the Electro poly) from TRU by calling and ordering if it's not on their website? My TRU closed in Jan so my only chance of getting polys anymore is Target...which they've cut down on.
Date TRU item # Name
5/10 238428 Electro
5/24 238677 Tie Advance Prototype 30275

So I wonder if we will see a promotion in this week's TRU ad (which will start on 5/10)...
Boo!
Well lets be clear. There may be promotions, but it does not mean TRU cannot sell these as a 'set'. If they have a price then they are available to be sold then they can be sold. Just because a promotion hits stores saying 'buy x amount of LEGO and get one of these for free', does not mean the bags are solely for a promotion. It is the same reason why they likely also add supplies are limited to each store. Now if stores want to really have them as part of promotions then they would not have any price in the system for them, they would simply say 'promo' or something like that.
If TRU was not to sell the Electros on May 1st, they would have been told not to. From what I understand stores need to adhere to sell by date, which are usually input into computers. Now, maybe TRU is 'cowboying it' at their stores, but the main office could squash it simply by providing no price in the system as it is a 'promotional item' at least until this official date. But they do not, so TRUs are well within the right to sell them. They are a product in the system with a price.
So yeah, I see the argument that maybe they should not be put out 'early' but that has to go more on to TRU HQ and not at the stores themselves if that date is a set in stone date.
I do not care who is right or wrong to buy or sell on May 1 or May 10. There is no need to continue belaboring the one-sided discussion on that subject.
I didn't ask an employee walking around the aisles or anything but I did ask at the counter when I was buying something else
The lady that I checked out with (at the CS desk none the less) had no idea
I've never actually seen them behind there though
They have a couple Lego cardboard boxes in the normal section they put the Polys in. Right next to the Creator stuff if you are interested
They were both completely empty- which is kind of surprising because for the last LONG time they were packed with the Chima bear mech things

I was at the Schaumburg, IL store today. They knew about the Electro poly, but only because one customer bought 50 of them the other day. They had none left already.
