Lego UCS star wars sets

B0SSKB0SSK Member Posts: 175
hi, sorry if this is a dumb question, but can someone please tell me on average how frequently lego release UCS star wars sets? From recent memory I recall the ucs slave 1, the ucs sandcrawler, and now we have the ucs tie fighter coming in Summer 2015. However, I cannot remember if lego produce these sets randomly or twice yearly or once yearly. Is there any pattern/cycle as to when the sets are released?

Many thanks

    No set pattern. For example 2002 was Imperial Star Destroyer #10030 then the next UCS to come out was 2004 Snow Speeder #10029 . It seems since 2004 every year there has been at least one Star Wars UCS set but no set amount. There were two UCS sets in 2010 and only one in 2011. Varies as to how often TLG decides to poop out another one. Honestly the normal seems about two a year but yet only one in 2014, Sand Crawler.

    I find it strange there is rumored to be 3 UCS SW sets this year !   (slave 1, tie-fighter and hoth).  I guess this could mean that hoth is not a sure thing at all?
  • B0SSKB0SSK Member Posts: 175
    Hang on, when did slave 1 come out?  Was it Jan 2015?  I cant remember !
  • BACbrixBACbrix Member Posts: 655
    Slave 1 was 2015 for retail in January

    @B0SSK Official UCS sets are typically 1 or 2 a year, except some years there's only 1 due to other slot being given up to a large playset style SW offering like Ewok Village or the upcoming Hoth set.

    Only 1 year (2002) were we blessed with 3 UCS sets:

    2000 = X-wing, TIE Interceptor
    2001 = Rebel Blockade, Darth Maul Bust
    2002 = ISD, Naboo SF, Yoda Bust
    2003 = Snowspeeder, (Cloud City)
    2004 = Y-wing
    2005 = Death Star II
    2006 = TIE Advanced, AT-ST
    2007 = Millenium Falcon
    2008 = Grievous, (Death Star)
    2009 = None
    2010 = Jedi SF, Imperial Shuttle
    2011 = SSD
    2012 = B-wing, R2-D2
    2013 = X-wing, (Ewok Village)
    2014 = Sandcrawler
    2015 = Slave-1, TIE Fighter

    An updated Lego AT ST would be great! they wouldnt need to change much but it would be nice to see a more updated inner cockpit (without and elastic band) maybe controls, a roof that can open and maybe a 2015 Han Solo and Chewbacca minifigs. More pieces would also be nice

    All I want from lego is the following:   Cloud City or modular based Cloud city carbon freezer/AIr shaft "I am your Father" scene, yoda hut, Darth Vaders Tie Fighter and a new Endor shield generator bunker set.  Are you listening lego???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'd like a UCS A-Wing, but after the abysmal sales of UCS sets like the N-1, Jedi Starfighter, and B-Wing (the B-Wing was actually a very fun build for me) I don't see that happening.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
    ^ I loved the B-Wing build.  Don't think the A-wing is that interesting of a ship but a UCS version would still be pretty cool.

    I too want an A-wing UCS, it's been a personal favorite of mine ever since spending a considerable amount of stick time with it in X-wing Alliance. Would love a UCS sized speeder bike too.

    If a UCS A-Wing were anything like this, I'd definitely be interested.

    Speeder Bike is an iconic vehicle that would do well in a UCS build.

    A Snowspeeder re-hash would also probably do well.

    Or we'll see nothing until later in 2016 with an Episode 7 vehicle.

    Heck, I'd be happy with a regular Tie Bomber. It had more screen time than the B-wing and we've seen multiple sets of that.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
    like 2 seconds more screen time?  Isn't the only scene with one where it passes over the hole in the asteroid and drops bombs?  Couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 seconds of screen time.

    UCS Space Worm! With a micro-scale Falcon and Tie Bomber...
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
    I thought it had more? Either way, we deserve a Tie Bomber set...

    @binaryeye that is a nice UCS, not really aiming to collect large amounts of SW stuff, but if TLG did an A-Wing in the UCS range much like that, I would have to say, I would be tempted.

    Other potential UCS sets that I would be seriously tempted by would be Dash Rendar's Outrider, Prince Xizor's Virago, the Ebon Hawk & Nico Okarr's Redshifter. Not likely as they're all EU vehicles & the first three are from games/books that were too long ago that I can't see Lucasfilm/Disney giving TLG the go ahead.

    I believe that Cavegod once offered plans for a USC ROTJ speeder bike. Don’t have time to look for it this morning though.

  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
    ^Yes his UCS Speeder Bike was a nice piece indeed!

    I wish for the following to be done in UCS:
    1. AT-AT (an official one that comes close to Cavegod's version)
    2. Speeder Bike (Anakin's version that he uses to go to the Tusken party)
    3. TIE Bomber (to complete the TIE range)
    4. Republic Gunship (best looking vehicle in the entire series)
    5. Venator (most beautiful cruiser in the Republic)

    ^ you're forgetting the Tie shuttle from Empire.

    ^^^ the Outride is in the New Hope special edition.

    ^But the TIE Shuttle is just a variant of the TIE Bomber, without armaments and with an extra pilot seat. So I would actually consider them the same vehicle.

    Similar to the C-130 Hercules Transport versus AC-130 Gunship, same plane but without armaments.

    Or the #9396 Technic Helicopter that is in Coast Guard SH-60 Seahawk variant without arms, while the more famous version is the MH-60 Blackhawk used by Army and Marines with weapons included.
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101

    ^ Except for HMX-1 that fly’s our politicians around, the Marines do not have Blackhawks. Troop transport is provided by an upgraded 4-blade Huey and the V-22.

  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
    ^I stand corrected @ecmo47, as you're right. The Marines don't use the Blackhawk regularly, it was Army Rangers and Delta Force that went down in Mogadishu. And it's the UH-60 variant, not MH-60, that they use. While both Coast Guard and Navy uses the SH-60. Plus there's the special Stealth Blackhawk that DevGru (Seal Team 6) got to use in the OBL raid. Still itching to see pics of that thing beyond the tail rotor.
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101
    We may not have them, but with so much cross-service training that goes on the Marines are quite familiar with them. The tragic crash off Pensacola last month was one such event where 4 Army aircrew and 7 Marines were lost.
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101

    But back to the topic at hand, a USC Imperial Probe Droid would be much welcomed. Tower of Orthanc has proved that Lego isn’t afraid to sell a pile of black parts!

    I just want a UCS (but minifigure scale) AT-AT. It seems like something they could design to cost around £250 so I don't see why it couldn't be done.

    I'd love to see an updated Star Destroyer, plus a TIE Bomber.  And, I'd quite a Nebulon B like mortesv's, that would be a day 1 purchase for me....

    How many display shelves would have to be reset to fit the height of a ucs AT-AT?

    This UCS Tie is the first UCS to don the Disney logo.

    Does this mean the Mouse mass produced it?
