Will they actually ship to the US without cancelling the order or anything?

They have in the past, many times with previous orders.  I know, insane that you can get it shipped across the Atlantic Ocean for cheaper than you can get it down the street at TRU.

Just curious if everyone else are still getting their stuff all beaten up?  It was ok a few months back but now the disgruntle shippers are back...
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I've had stuff pristine from Amazon.co.uk and I've had stuff pretty banged up. Most of the time though, I'm really impressed it makes it across the ocean in very good condition. I got 3 of the Volvo Technic sets so we will see. It was actually $159 and change each. That price is still live right now but you may have to buy 3 to get it. At 40% off, It's pretty hard to beat even if the boxes are a little dinged up.

There are pretty good prices on a few of the Technic sets right now:

So I don't know if it was just a fluke, but I just bought the Volvo for 105 pounds ($153) and #42029 for 42.50 pounds ($62), both of which changed to that price during checkout. Hubby is supper excited for both! Thanks all for the heads up! :)

This makes sense - the listed UK price includes VAT (sales tax) at a rate of 20% so I assume that if the item is being shipped outside the EU then Amazon deduct the VAT from what you pay. Pretty excellent deal on the surface, although I'm not sure what threshold overseas folks have with respect to import duties.

I belive the US doesn't have any? In Australia we pay nothing unless the total order is over $1000AUD (£525 & $767USD), in which case it's 10% GST.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
Finally had to pull the trigger on these two, what a deal!  Total of 37% off, not including the savings on sales tax.

For me, about 3 out of 4 sets that arrive from Amazon UK arrive damaged, and usually it's pretty significant damage. I'm a box nit -- even with sets that I intend to open -- so I've stopped ordering from them altogether.
  • BastaBasta Member Posts: 1,259
^^Wow, I wish shipping to Australia was as cheap as the US. Same two sets will set me back £32 for shipping. I'd even be happy to pay double the US shipping price :p
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
Thanks @TheLoneTensor ! I broke down and bought one of each, just too good of a price to pass up, even with the question of how they will arrive (I also hope my Credit card company does not decline the purchase thinking it is a stolen card or something).
I'm not a box stickler, if the box is damaged en route to me I'm not concerned, as long as parts are not leaking out of the shipping box (or damage to stickers/instruction box, etc...), as these will be just for me anyway.

Wow, I can't believe these prices. I just ordered one of each train as well. These are for my son, so I don't care about the condition of the boxes either, they will just get thrown out. $221 total. Thanks everyone for continuing to post about this, I ignored it a couple days ago because it just seemed kind of far fetched. I'm not used to ordering from the UK.

No worries.  It takes a village to raise a deal sometimes.

Received today #42039 24 Hours Race Car, #60052 Cargo Train and #60051 High-Speed Passenger Train from Amazon UK. They should been here sooner if not for a mix-up at one of the hub.
Both trains look like they are just off the self, the Technic set has minor creases, but nothing more that anything coming from [email protected] or Amazon US.

Our initial order got cancelled, but I think it was because I had them send to a military address, and I don't think that their system liked it. We reordered last night, got the same prices and mailed them to my mom, so fingers crossed!
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
Yeah orders still show an expected ship date of may 2nd. I have no seen any cancellation so Im just hoping they ship and my Credit card co does not decline the purchase and tell me afterward.

Received the #42030 Volvo L350F Wheel Loader today, just a small crease on the box, quite impressive... LEGO sale on Amazon UK is now on my watch list.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
Received 2 of the Volvo's here also, pristine as can be.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
Oh, I forgot to mention that it also required a signature, which i found interesting.

Nothing for me either. I suppose no news is a bit of good news (i.e. at least he purchase was not 'declined')?
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
I believe the price is still active.  Perhaps cancel and redo?
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
I re-ordered 2x #60052 Blue Cargo to part out. Ordered on the 20th, Delivered today on the 23rd... faster than buying from [email protected] US...
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,828
Just placed my order came to just under $138 with shipping. Guess I'll wait and see if/how it shows up.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
I thought about re-ordering but I think when I ordered mine it said an additional 1-2 weeks I think to process, which falls into this week and I notice that the package is being prepared now, whereas before I could change shipping speed so I think it is part how I choose shipping and also the additional time delay when I ordered.

At some point today, the order I placed awhile back changed to "dispatching now," so I think that the orders are going through, but they take time. As someone else said, when I ordered, there was a 1-2 week delay on the listing.

For the blue cargo train, it is at 99pounds at the moment; when I ordered it was at 80.83 pounds.

^ Prices are including sales tax, it is removed when bought from outside of Europe (or may be just UK)

Yeah, it is a really good deal.Just cannot do it right now.

I went ahead and placed an order for the train.  Worst comes to worst it gets cancelled.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I got the dispatching soon notification as well.  Also got hit with the pending charge, so I'm confident that it will get to me!

For those of you still on the lookout for the Technic Volvo it's currently available on UK Amazon at 34% off the UK RRP, which is the cheapest that it's been:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H4908ZM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=bargainwatch-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B00H4908ZM

Look on the right side of the screen - you'll see a small 'sold by Amazon' box and a UK price of £112.50. You can take 20% UK sales tax off that for the US price. They don't currently have it in stock but are taking orders for it so you should be OK. I just ordered one (albeit for UK delivery).

Just got my confirmation via email that they have been dispatched. Now about that Volvo front loader.... Thanks @drdavewatford
According to my browser, the uk site is showing that it is available for 143.60 pounds, however it is not being sold by amazon, but it does show at 130 pounds from Amazon UK in the link to all sellers. they are 'not in stock' but apparently you can still order... interesting

That's a shame - it's back up to £130 as you say, but the price seems quite volatile so it's probably worth keeping an eye on it and waiting for it to drop again.

Its crazy how until recently the blue cargo train was 199.99 USD and then all of a sudden it became a discounted set - and now? back and forth with the discounts!

I wonder if the [email protected] stock will ever sell out now that it seems to be one of the only places selling it for 199.99 USD.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
The Blue Cargo Trains I received from Amazon UK were made in early March (09S5)  it is not like they discounted old inventory.
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,828
Just got an email today saying mine is on the way.

Another quality U.S. shipment received here.  Ordered the High Speed Passenger Train, and the Train Station, both arrived within 4 days in perfect condition.  In case anyone is still on the fence worried about box damage.

@piratemania7 The City trains always seem to go on sale a lot, I got the Red Pasanger train from Amazon.co.uk at a 40% discount a while back, also got the Yellow and Red cargo trains at 30%+ off.

In Australia one of our large retailers had the Blue Cargo train as part of their clearance sale at 50% off recently (Assuming you could find a store with stock). Seems crazy to clear sets less than a year old @ 50% off, but I'm not going to complain.
