Need Help: Adding power to Lego sets

Hi, I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place, but thought I'd start here. I am reasonably nre to LEGO and I am an adult fan. I can definitely say I am addicted and love it!

I recently purchased a retired set #4404 and I want to add power so I can control the car remotely. I have seen others do this, but can't seem to find any help guides.

How do I know what I need? How do I modify the build? I am not sure where to start.

Is there someone out there that can help point me in the right direction?

You're going to need Power Functions, and I'd start with a Technic kit that's designed to be motorized, which'll be a lot easier for you to start on than a Creator set that wasn't intended for motorizing (although it's big enough and should be possible for an expert).

The parts involved are three sizes of drive motor (M,L and XL according to size/weight of vehicle), a return-to-centre Servo motor for steering (a geared down M works just as well in my experience), these are plugged into an IR receiver, which is connected to a battery box, all of which is carried on the vehicle, and you'll need a separate remote control. Since these parts separately will run to a fair amount, you might as well get #42030, the Volvo loader; it's expensive but it has everything you need and is fully remote control. It'll give you a good lesson in how to arrange everything as well.

    Have fun!

If you are looking for a simple RC 4WD car, I made those instructions a while ago. That chassis was used to build the car in this video

The car in the video is exactly what I would like to build. Where can I find the instructions?

sorry to hijack this thread a bit . Are the PF (servo, XL, L, M) motors, IR receiver available in lego store ( NY Rockfellar in particular ) or is it available only at [email protected]

    Thank You .
