    the first set im picking up is the treasure island set hmmm me thinks that in a role play I could use metalbeards seacow to travel to the island
    or maybe do an adaption of Robert Louis stevensons immortal swashbuckling classic

    Brick Bounty arrived today. The box is smaller than its predecessor Brickbeard Bounty; but looks to be a fun build!

    ^ they were not supposed to be released until the official release date of March 1st. Someone or somehow they were made available from Amazon about a week ago but only for a few days until the mistake was caught.

    Not Wowed as some about the new Pirate line, but at least they are trying again. Probably will grab the Boat at least.

    Definitely getting the boat, will probably end up with the full line since the other sets are all on the cheaper end

    Why are people referring to it as a boat? You mean the ship Brick Bounty? It does come with a row boat....

    That doesn't make any sense. Sorry. I get they aren't the best sets but "hate" seems like a pretty strong word in my opinion. I suppose the alternative would have been to have no new ship?

    I for one am not in the "hate" boat.

    is the release date for Pirates in the US March 1st? I want to go to the LEGO store tomorrow when they open to pick up the whole theme before I start work, but don't want to make the trip if they wont have it.

    OR people just were errantly interchanging the word boat and ship. It happens. To assume people are calling it a boat means they must 'hate' something is just silly.

    I believe that LEGO stores are holding some sets for March 1 release, meaning also sets were not put on the shelf until tomorrow.
    I unfortunately zoned out after hearing the Easter egg sets and the new Demo sets were on the shelf, but heard the part about more sets are due on the shelves tomorrow. Best bet is to call the store first.

    Pirates sets were out at my lego store yesterday.  Picked up the chess set myself.

    Finally got my hands on the theme. Only build the 2 outposts and the ship. Pretty disappointed now that I have the finished product in hand. The ship just feels "incomplete" and only comes with 1 musket! Really?? Many of us said we'd hold final judgement until the sets were released, I'm pretty disappointed but all the reviews I see (especially of the ship) say its a good set, am I alone in this disappointment?

    Price point (price per piece) is a prohibitive factor for me to buy any sets.

    I'm glad others are commenting on the chess set. Mine arrived yesterday (UK) and I opened the box to take a look. So much Lego for the price! Lots of large plates and other pieces, as well as the 20 minifigures. I've ordered hats and epaulettes to kit the soldiers out but this was fairly cheap. Highly recommend it!

    I tweaked my cannons so they not only shoot diagonally and horizontally, but they slide back allowing the covers to close all the way.

    Anybody have any idea how the pirate chess set can be  out for only a few days then instantly be back ordered until September?  Then on Amazon for double price?

    Read somewhere (Eurobricks?) that there was a mistake in the instruction manuals so they pulled it and are rereleasing it.  September was probably the earliest they could fit it into the production cycle.

    I wonder if once they get their heads wrapped around this if we wont see that September date rapidly decline?

    If you don't mind placing an order now it doesn't hurt and who knows this summer you could be surprised one day. :smile:

    You can check LEGO Discovery Centers, the Schaumburg one had the set available over the last weekend (not sure if they pulled them for this issue). LDCs are not part of LEGO.

    Ordered my chess set the first day of double points, but it was back ordered. Came about a week ago. There was no problem with the instructions, but some of the parts were in the wrong bag. The pins for joining the sections were all in bag one, and they were used for different bag steps. Also had some extra parts that were not the normal extra ones.

    The Chess set is available in Legoland Windsor but at an inflated price of £54.99 (although if you have an annual pass, you get 10% off).

    Got a chess and there seems to be a mistake indeed,if you follow the instructions litterly you might end up with two blacks next to each other when you put the plates on. Quite easily solved though and very straightforward. There seems to be a discrepancy between pics and instruction because the Queen is not on her colour. However that's easily solved again :-)

    We have been enjoying playing chess! My son is only five but because it's lego and pirates he took an interest and keeps asking to play! Hope Lego makes it available soon for people that haven't got one yet!

    The last three chess sets did not sell well. I would check TRU or the Lego retail stores - there should be some stock for some time.

    Same sort of supply chain issues as with the Exo-Suit. Plenty in the retail stores, nothing online.

    Could be worse, TRU started having local stores ship online orders. It's complete chaos - when both stock tracking systems are unreliable!

    I think this Chess set will sell better, as it is a great parts pack (no big molded plastic base)and the price is really good, here in Australia at least.

    accountant has tight grip on finances so pirates on craving list (wish list with hurt),would have only got pirate smalls , the blue boats should have been brown which puts me off the high prices @ the moment

    Lego is shipping out gold cutlass' if you request it from their missing parts page. A gold cutlass is listed in the product description on the Brick Bounty and the Soldiers Fort-- #70413 and #70412 respectively.

    Has anyone yet incorporated any of the new wave with some of the "classic" stuff? I have yet to get there due to other competing priorities but I wonder how the sets, minifigures, etc will match up.

    About the only thing is get the Minifigs together and MOC some additional pirates to fill out the BB

    I can't say that I like the new blue coats. Why print over blue instead of white, the contrast is really muddled on the new soldier.
