So, after watching the Joker Steam Rollers sit at our local store at 30% off, I came in today to fimd them still marked as such, but with a clearance cart nearby so I stalled and waited, went back over to hooefully het them for 50, and they wer GONE.  I asked the person doing markdowns who said they were being written off, and woukd not sell it to me. Not even one :(
Wow, but that is their right, and a cautionary tail to all of those waiting for the perfect score.

^ I saw that price on the inventory checker and wondered where one might find such a price. None of the Targets in my state are even stocking the set! If anyone finds a #79014 at $20.98 and would be kind enough to pass along the discount, I would be hugely appreciative!

Found a #70725 Ninajago Mechdragon that scanned unavailable in the system.
Asked the Target employee to double-check what the price was.
He said because it's not in the system, he'd have to give it to me for the last posted price.

    Here, I'm thinking 70% off.

$89.99 was what I was told. (No way...)

I asked if he pricematched. I checked Amazon (lowest at $51.99) and Target and TRU online no longer stocked them. I told him I'll pass; I was able to get them for $38 on clearance online at TRU.

The Joker steamroller still checks out at 30%. I'll bite at 50% but I'll check tomorrow.

Lastly, I saw some Chima sets were listed at 70% off:
    #70221
    #70222

@pharmjod , you may have a point with the West Coast Port issues. If this is actually why so many Target stores have these on clearance, then it might be a decent investment after all.
I'm not sure it's because of that.

I think it's more surplus inventory from the closing of the Targets in Canada.

I just found a mechdragon at Wal-Mart that said $64 on the sticker, but it rang up at $21. They had no other lego sets on sale though

I checked the brickseeker site just now and it doesn't look like any of the Targets near me made any further reductions today. Kind of odd. Usually at least one of the stores makes a move.
Yep, same situation by me.  Zero changes in prices from last week.  As shown by fyndly, and confirmed by a visit at lunch time.

I'm with you on the GotG sets. I've been waiting for those to be discounted for awhile now. Unfortunately Cincinnati Walmarts have been wiped clean of the Milano.
Exactly what he said. There's also a large Kroger Marketplace that has a shelf full too at $74.99. They've discounted most of the other sets, but not these. I have no idea why.

What Kroger Marketplace do you usually hit for Lego?  Typically Newport for me.  They have the Hulk Lab Smash for 40% in case you missed it at Target like I did.
This Marketplace is in Amelia on OH125. They had several Superhero, SW, Ninjago, Chima, and City sets anywhere from 15 to 50% off.

Another one to check at Walmart:

    70146: Flying Phoenix Fire Temple

Sticker said $79 (reg $120). Rang up $35. Also, several of the smaller ($30) Lego movie sets are ringing up at $9.

Just hit up my Target for some NON-sale, Price Match purchases.

PM with Amazon on these two items:
    #75082 (shelf price $39.99; Amazon $31.99)
    #60073 (shelf price $24.99; Amazon $19.99)
    plus my Target RedCard 5%.

So 24% off each. Loved it. Lego VIP rewards and a crappy Bionicle giveaway can't top that.

Was told however that each Target store PMs one item per customer per day.
(But she let this transaction go through)

These went to $34.98 at my Target yesterday:
    70164-1: Ultra Agents Hurricane Heist
    I did not purchase.

I've been checking the Fyndly app regularly for my local Target. On Tuesday it showed 50% markdown on additional items.  Checked it out on my way home and items were still at 30%.  Checked again this morning (Thursday) and sure enough an associate was marking down the clearance toys.  Managed to get a number of desirable sets before the vultures in my neighborhood swooped in.

I am very happy with Fyndly.  Much obliged to @abel for creating it.

Yeah, items were down to 50% off today; there's a ton of Bionicle, which is kind of surprising to see. I saw Metalbeard's Duel for 50% off and a few TMNT sets. The Dropship was down to 50% off, too, but I can't bring myself to spend even $40 on that one.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Dropship is an awesome set. $40 is a steal

Not much clearance left at my local store:
Several #60041 Crook Pursuit at 50% off
One beat-up #60044 Mobile Police Unit at 50% off
At least 20 each of #70786 Gali and #70789 Onua at 33% off

Interesting to note that Fyndly reports no stock for both Police sets.

Found a pile of TMNT Big Rigs at 50% off but just can't justify it. Parts are ok but the movie turtles are just ugly. Just got a couple Agents sets, the little buggy and the Hurricane Heist for my son at half off.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Found 2 x-men sentinels, 2 spidey copters and one of each of the agents sets at 50% off. Left a bunch of bionicle and 5 turtle subs and a few agents at 50%.

I noticed what some earlier posts had found....Fyndly & Brickset apps said 50% off...but scanned at only 30% off.  Which really stunk...I traveled 40 miles out of my way because there was a #70728 Ninjago Battle for Ninago City, 4 LM Benny Spaceships, and some Hobbit Lake-Towns at 30%.  I asked and was told they'd already done store mark-down today (10am).  I ended up buying the #70728 for $83.98 and returned it to my local Target and while I was talking to the Customer Service employee he pulled the set back out from the "items returned" pile and gave it to me for $59.98.  Gotta love Target!

True, but with my limited investing capital there are other things I would rather be getting to swing a better return
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101
After sitting at 30% off, my local Target just drop the price on Steamroller, Metalbeards Duel, and Spidy Helo to 50%. They have had most of the Agents sets at 50% for a while. Also, they have a ton of the Technics Snowmobile for $9.98. Funny thing was that yesterday, Brickseek reported the prices at 50% off but when I checked the store, they still scanned at 30%. I talked to the manager and he didn't budge on the prices but today everything was at 50%. I wonder how/where Brickseek gets it's info since it seemed to predict the price drop rather then reporting the actual price.

I have found the prices on both sites to be spot on. First thing I do on Thursday mornings is check both of them. Stock amount is usually pretty close but have yet to find a price error. Best deal I found today was the X-Men vs Sentinal for $10

TMNT Sub for $30 is a great price, I just already have 3 of it at that price and I'm not 100% confident it will be a great performer. Didn't feel like dropping another $120 on 4 more.

@Thanos75 Walmart or Target for the x-men set?

Picked these up at Target today:

    70162: Infearno Interception  $14.98
76013: Batman: The Joker Steam Roller  $20.98

The Infearno set was a lot better build than I was expecting.  Nice looking set when completed.

There was a lot more at 50%, but I'm going to wait and see if it goes 70% off.

Only thing I saw on the Fyndly app but couldn't get was the 79116: Big Rig Snow Getaway.  It was listed at $20.98 and in stock at one store near me, but I couldn't find any on the shelf and the price scanner indicated it had already gone salvage.

I didn't find any TMNT, but I did find Ultra Agents at 50% off. Grabbed #70161 and #70162. Also found a lone, unmarked #70802 Bad Cop's Pursuit at 50% off, which was pretty sweet. Good day.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I have really been a lot more selective in what I have been buying lately. I went to three Targets today and bought very little. I passed up a stack of dropships. They were still at $40. The Agents Infearno set was way better then I expected. The Infearno minifig is probably one of my top 10 figs now.

I did notice one thing I found weird. All of the Joker Steamroller sets have disappeared. The stores around me had tons of them .....whole end caps full. Then one day last week they just vanished.
  • novicebuilder101novicebuilder101 Member Posts: 130
^I think the Brickpickers bought them all up. I've seen photos of some of them hoarding 40+ rollers. Hopefully, they'll take two years to get back up to full retail price heh.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
They didn't buy them in my area....trust me....lol. I'm the only person who buys LEGO down here. Well besides that little Vietnamese woman who literally elbowed me out of the way last year during the Target clearance for some Star Wars sets. I have seen her several times and she buys things other then LEGO so while she is distracted with Barbie I swoop in for the score.

I did have one rival when I first started hunting. He somehow knew when Barnes & Nobles was having their sale and he would reserve all the good sets the day before. So I would go to the check out and find all the good deals behind the counter with the name " Robert" taped to them. I eventually tracked him down and we became pretty good friends. Now we split everything we find.

That is a great story about a guy using his brains to catch a markdown before it happens. Some folks just buy it the day before the sale and then return and rebuy it for the sale price the next day.
I quit looking for big LEGO discounts two years ago because it became a waste of time. Spending two hours and gas to possibly save $20 can be a bad decision when markdowns are so rare. And I have plenty of LEGO that have never been played with. It is relaxing shopping for groceries at Target now without rushing to the other end of a huge store to see if anything is marked down more than 10 per cent.
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 995
I'm surprised people are still finding target clearance. Mine have been empty for weeks now. Things were barely at 30% off and being snatched up. I did pick up the agents sets at 30% off weeks ago, but I'd love to get them at 50%. There hasn't been any X-Men sets ever on sale. I checked target tonight and there was nothing. Steamrollers are all gone too...very odd.
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
The fyndly app is showing Ultra Agents sets at 50% off but they are still 30% in store. I checked yesterday afternoon, well after the usual Thursday markdowns happen. It also reported 1 Attack on Laketown set for $14.98 but it was nowhere to be found. Also, I bought the last Battle of Five Armies for $41.98 a few weeks ago, and now the app has the price at my Target listed at $17.98 and out of stock. Does this mean that would have been the price now if it stayed on the shelf?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,624
I snagged an Attack On Laketown for -50% someone had hidden behind the Duplo to come back for later.

Darn, I must have dropped the ball on picking up #70728 Battle for Ninjago City from my local Targets. I haven't seen any at my local stores for a while and now I notice they are going for $60 or $35 in my area on fyndly. Oh, well. Now I will wait until they go on sale at ToysRUs, they have bunch of them, hopefully they drop the price to make room for the current sets and blow them out like they did the MechDragon. I did pick up a #70727 X-1 Ninja Charger for $20 so that almost makes up for it (not really).

I had heard some others saying that their stores pulled them from the shelves and may have salvaged them immediately.  All the stores around me had tons of these, a bunch in the Lego aisle and even more in the clearance aisle.  Most disappeared at 15% and 30% off.  I doubt that customers bought all these up because the set was overpriced to begin with.  This seems to support the salvage theory.  Either that or Target has started shoving sets into storage units behind their stores like Walmart does.   :)

Passed on a few $25 Steamrollers.  That set does nothing for me and my kids don't even like it.  I did find a lone $15 Attack on Laketown which I scooped up.  Not a big fan of the set but I figure I can pair it with Laketown Chase.

I've seen a few Agents HQ that I would love to pick up at 50% or more.  I wonder why they are not being discounted?  Has anyone seen discounting on this set?

Fyndly app showed 15 steamrollers at a target near me. I go to check, nothing. I check the app later in the day, it shows 6 at that target and 5 at another target, odd but okay. I go back to this one and the other target, nothing in sight. Actually no clearance whatsoever. Sad day.

What's really weird about that is I found a large stash of steamrollers two weeks ago...on an end cap in the bed sheets, linens section.
