I'm not going to "stop it," because I am warranted an opinion.  I simply asked a question as to why they would match such a request.  It's unfortunate that many of your posts seem to be either inaccurate or questionable, but that's how you have established yourself so far.  Good luck using @mathew as a role model.  I'm sure that will serve you well :)

I will admit, you do have me wondering what a "major thread" is though...
You jumped on the poor guy's first post.  You do it constantly with new members.  Take a break or loosen up a little.

No Arctic Base Camp deals for $25 here, they're still 89.99 & not in clearance area. :/ TMNT sets scanned half off but sit on the normal shelves with full price tags underneath/nothing indicating a price drop.Turtle Van Takedown scanned 19.00,Karai Bike Escape were 4.99 The only set that still scanned at full price 89.99 was the Turtle Lair Invasion.

Found #41058 Heartlake Mall at the local WM for $54. Got a few of #70156 Fire vs. Ice for just $1 each, and they still have some other Speedorz sets left for $4 and $5.

Stopped by a WM I don't usually frequent.  Found #75039 for $7, #70144 for $20 and best of all #70145 for $40.  Even the wife couldn't complain about those prices!

Is the walmart app only for iphone? I can't seem to find the one for android that shows instore prices.
  • juggles7juggles7 Member Posts: 451
I have the app on my Android cell, so it's not just for iphone.  Try doing a Google search for it on your cell.  The app is not very accurate, or rather, the inventory system at the stores is not accurate.  The app often shows an item out of stock at a particular store, but they may have 1,2,4, or 10 of the item.  Have seen it over and over.  Have also seen red clearance stickers on boxes with the prices confirmed by the store scanner, but not showing at the App.  The App is not a replacement for physically checking the stores.
  • eggsheneggshen Member Posts: 600
@juggles7 thanks! I didn't notice that scanner on the app I downloaded. With this one and fyndly for Target, no more running all over. Now I can just check some prices without wondering if I am missing out. Granted they aren't 100% accurate, but running all over the place cuts into my building time! If I can catch a couple deals here and there that will be just fine.

I just did some experimentation tonight with the walmart app.  The thing to remember is that "store mode" kicks in when you physically enter a store, and then the phone in your hand is as good as their in store scanners.  Very helpful for stores where they have only two scanners and both are inexplicably right next to the cash registers.  But when you're sitting at home you will not be able to access the store mode.

For inventory tracking (quantity on hand) and price at other stores I did not find that it worked well (I have an Android phone, BTW) but at the very least the scanner portion was accurate for in store pricing.
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
^i've said it before and I think it is still accurate: if you use the UPC codes located on each set page on Brickset, you should be able to check the in store actual price. Just select the store you want as "your store" and then the bar code scanner on the app. Scan the UPC on your screen, and it should give you the in store price as if you were there. I honestly don't know if you'll find any differences from what just looking up the set on the Walmart app and checking the price by starting the process of adding it to your cart would show. I've used this method to check prices all over the US.

Also, if you know the Walmart code that you would need to look up sets on Brickseek(the last digits of the URL for the set on Walmart's website) you can search by that number on the app. The Walmart search engine is awful, so having the option to search directly by the number is worthwhile. Hope this helps!

Found a pile of Dol Guldur Battles at local Walmart.  Marked down to $54.  What's interesting is that I swear about six months ago this same Walmart had this set listed for $29 on the web app.  At the time when I went to the store I was told it wasn't in stock...

Seems like the clearance store prices fluctuate sometimes. A store near me had the guardians of the Galaxy starblaster set for $5 couple weeks ago. Now it is back to regular price.
I also found a Benny's spaceship for $49 and some turtles sets that were 50% and none of the showed up on the Walmart app.

@Ronyar, thanks for the tip about using the UPC codes shown at Brickset.  I've been scanning an actual box from my collection, since I have one of many, many sets, but your way is more convenient, and works for these sets which I don't own.  Thanks, neighbor!

Many bargain hunters believe the incessant price match abuse needs to stop.  Price matching an online sale or advertisement is one thing, but price matching clearance, pictures, receipts, and other bogus stuff is only making it harder for other buyers as scams become more prevalent.  Yes, some folks can get naive checkout personnel and managers to price match and override anything, or you may have a hookup at a certain store, but once the retail crackdown starts, everyone will suffer.

At a local Walmart yesterday they were packing up lego clearance sets, and the lego shelf rep was there looking at their display. clearance stuff doesn't hang around here indefinitely anymore; if it doesn't sell, it gets sent back.

On the upside, they had the tag for the new Simpsons CMFs out, and they were $3 even, and that price was valid for S13, too.

I wasn't, but when I scanned with my Walmart app, it didn't recognize it. I didn't buy any yesterday (didn't have time to feel the bags and don't feel like trading duplicates), but I might go back sometime. $3 for a CMF makes me feel like I'm living in a daydream (or 2013).

@exciter1 Okay I get that but isn't bargain hunting doing anything possible to get a good deal? Reselling is what funds my hobby so if I there was a chance to score a set to resell and buy a new set to enjoy shouldn't I take it? Sorry but my instance is not detrimental to the decision to cut back on deals. Either way I am not trying to get an argument started so leave it at that. Thanks

I'm not trying to argue, but read your statement above a few times back to yourself and see if it sounds like the right thing to you.  Bargain hunting is really getting a good deal by abiding to law and store policies, not by doing anything possible.

I never find clearance deals in Chicago area stores. Probably already picked over.  But I did find several of the Elves sets online for 30% off, most for in-store pickup only.

Checked out the creative tower deal and decided against it... Then I saw #70500-1 on clearance for $2.   80% off? Ya I'll bite on the first Ninjago set I've ever bought lol.  Easter Bunny is going to do well this year lol.

Anyone that was able to get a good deal on the Arctic Base Camp when you looked at the Walmart app did it show the clearance price? None of my walmarts are so I am wondering if they are still full price. Also noticed on the app Benny is showing up at a couple stores as $98.97 now instead of the $49 deal a couple weeks ago.

Apparently Walmart has done a reset of their clearance.  I know that a local store that had a Ninjago City marked down to $80 now has it marked up to $97.  Maybe it's still on clearance, but I was hoping that it was going to drop in price not go up!

^i think Walmart has changed how the price data (and consequently Brickseek data) is working. I have been in several Walmart's where the price on the shelf for sets does not match what the app or Brickseek show. The Walmart app used to show the in-store price for a set, but now it appears to be mirroring the website price instead. There have been a couple of instances where I could see a different price on the app when searching if I select "in your store" but most of the time the set never appears in the list of available products, even though I know it is in stock in the store, and the app shows it as being available in store. Weird stuff going on. I am afraid I'm back to driving to stores and searching instead of relying on the nice Brickseek widget and the Walmart app.

Was getting my oil changed at dodge dealer today, walked across the street to wallmart to see what up in lego section.   Of all things they had 4 hobbit goblin king battle sets.  Have not seen those in years.  I nailed 3 of them @$79 each.  Also grabbed 2 turtles sub chase sets for $30 each, was a good day I guess

  • MrJ_NYMrJ_NY Member Posts: 592
Has anyone found the #79117 TMNT Lair Invasion marked down? I managed to find several other TMNT sets Lego [email protected] still sell which scan at 50% off the price marked on the shelf. The Lair Invasion is the only set still left in a few local Walmarts but they are still at full price.
  • ReesesPiecesReesesPieces Member Posts: 1,122
In my opinion, the turtle lair invasion is the weakest of the movie sets. I bought a new one on eBay for $60 and I still don't think it is worth it. Still, if you want one, you might find one close to 50% off on eBay.

Well between #79117 Lair Invasion or #79103 Lair Attack they can both be found for about the same price. The LI seems like it has more playability than the LA.

Some North Florida Walmarts have been substituting #10696 for #10695 from the Easter Ad. Either is a good deal for $20.

I was thrilled to see the AT-AT for $40 at a local Wal-Mart on the mobile app- I placed the order online but it was cancelled because it was out of stock. I'm assuming someone else snagged it from the clearance section. Dang!
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
^$40??? Where in the world was that? I'm sure it didn't last long!
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 999
Sometimes orders will get cancelled anyway because it was never in stock to begin with. Some of those apps aren't always up to snuff with the actual inventory.

^ True.  There are a couple near me that repeatedly show the same false inventory.
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
Woops, not sure why I typer AT-AT, it was actually the Imperial Star Destroyer (which is even crazier to me). Either way, not sure what happened- I actually tried to order online and scoured the aisles myself to try and find one. No luck.
  • dragon114dragon114 Member Posts: 642
going to try and go back to see if the lego dragon mountain set has gone down any lower then $40. im only willing to pay $20 tops because i only want the dragon.
  • BACbrixBACbrix Member Posts: 655
@dragon114 dragon wants a dragon? Seems reasonable. Lol but I got mine for $30 on Black Friday last year and the set is actually pretty good but for 40-50$ it is not close to worth it.

What I have noticed, is when something goes from the regular isle to wherever the clearance section is, your order will be cancelled.  It is like the employee looks in the Lego isle, doesn't find it, order cancelled.  I had that happen to me with the Helicopter Rescue set. I saw them in store marked $40, but came up $17 on the mobile site.  Ordered, then cancelled because of "Out of Stock".  Went back the next day, took one marked $40 to the nearest register (no price scanners in this store), came up $17.

    YMMV.....

^ that's great to know! I'll just March to the clearance aisle next time I see a deal like that pop up.
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 999
I don't have a smart phone or iphone so I don't have access to any apps, but whenever I have gone into the store I end up scanning a handful of sets in the clearance section. Sometimes they ring up lower than marked, other times it's the same and sometimes it's oversupply and rings up at MSRP...so again, YMMV. But if you have some time to kill, you could scan a couple that you want and see what happens.

I randomly scanned the B-Wing a few weeks ago and it rang up 20 instead of 50...unfortunately it was the only one there otherwise I would have grabbed a couple.
