http://www.target.com/p/Atlantis-Gateway-of-the-Squid-8061/-/A-11875528?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Froogle_df&LNM=|11875528&CPNG=toys&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=11875528

If u search on the target website it won't come up, either google it or click on the link above. Limit of 3, which brings it under $50 which means you have to pay shipping. However, I added Atlantis 8080 (also on clearance) also max 3, and that gives me free shipping plus $7 off $70.

Plus using my discover card gets me 10% back

8061 shows up here on amazon with a regular price of 40 and not 30, so the discount is even higher than 50% off

I feel like those crazy folks from extreme couponers, but I like being able to save a lot more than a few cents here and there

@legofantexas you can place more than one order... I already tried :)

I don't need any more, but great price. Lowest I've seen by far.

Still at at least 50% off at Target:
PoP Ostrich Race (7570), WR Jagged Jaws Reef (8897), SW Freeco Speeder (8085), Atlantis Gateway of the Squid (8061), Lego Champion, Atlantis Undersea Explorer (8080), and a few other decent sales, around 30% off, which is still better than a TRU BOGO, even if the prices were MSRP.

    very funny... :)

Target wastes a TON of money on shipping... On Friday UPS was nice enough to show up with 14 Emerald Nights, each one in a separate box, each box big enough to hold 4 of them.

2 of the 14 had damage, 1 was minor the other was pretty crushed, the other 12 were really good with only minor rubbing.

The orders were placed a few minutes apart, why not just combine them into a few large boxes and save money and the planet at the same time?
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
Yeah I noticed that too. I placed two orders last week and they both arrived in boxes that could have fit 4-5 more of each set. Crazy.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
I'm not sure these last two Atlantis sets are worth buying, they have been on clearance for awhile and not sold out yet, while the good stuff like 3221 City Truck sold out quickly.

BTW, I have about a dozen of the City Truck on back order, Target e-mailed me and asked for permission to delay delivery until the end of January. I figured they had it on clearance because it was EOL, but if they will get more and ship them in a month, maybe it isn't. I don't care in either case because for $15 each delivered, that truck is a bargain.

My 6 year old son already built one of them, I might have him build 4 more to make a trucking company fleet. At that price, why the heck not?

You crack me up..."only minor rubbing." Something shipped hundreds of miles away, plus handled by many folks, and you complain of rubbing.....LOL!!! Loosen up.

Grr... Ok, fine... I broke down and ordered some of this "wonderful" Atlantis stuff... :)

16 sets of 8080 and 24 sets of 8061 - $7 off $70, 5% Red card savings and free shipping, worked out to $658.80 including tax and delivery for all of it. Now here is hoping that at some point, someone wants this stuff. :)
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Dude, I only bought some for parts. It'll be a LONG time before that stuff is worth anything.

Do keep in mind these sets are for resale, so the more mint they are, the better.

That being said, I'm pretty picky about my boxes, not as bad as I used to be (I'm pretty anal in general about such things), but for larger sets, I want them mint perfect 100%.

If you ever buy/trade with me and I say something is 10/10, then it is, flawless in all respects. Almost nothing I sell is graded 10/10 and few is 9/10. 8/10 is my most common grade, I want my buys to be happy, not disappointed.

However, I do hear you, and after seeing how packed the UPS trucks are this week, I am amazed so little gets damaged.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
@sidersdd - perhaps, we shall see. But at this price point, I can afford to give them as birthday presents to my kid's friends at school, I can toss a few of the cheaper ones in the Toys for Tots bins and take the tax write off, etc.

I might sell some of them, we'll for sure keep 2 of each since we don't have these yet.

I'm not worried about it, I only spend money I can afford to have sit if need be. If nothing else, we have TONS of Lego to play with! :)

I understand and realize that I have to separate resale from personal use. I agree that one who buys for reselling is more of a stickler of the condition of the set. That said, you come across as being a thirsty blooded Lego vampire who sucks the life of those who can't afford what you can....LOL :). Nonetheless, more power to you. I assume you will be at the opening of Stonebriar Lego store on the 26th.

Not in the least... I donate to several charities every year, we earn enough that we need every deduction that we can take, charitable giving is one of the best there is. This year, we donated enough stuff that we had to get it appraised since it was over $5K worth of stuff of a single type.

Blood thirsty vampire? Sheesh, that is something I've never been called before, at least not to my face!

Oh well, I choose to think that you were saying it tongue-in-cheek, and not really trying to insult me. Vampire? Ha! I think of myself as more of a werewolf, being up this late at night and all! :)

Yes, I have the morning of the 26th marked on my calender... Are you going to be there? I'd be happy to meet you and say hello if you are. Of course if you plan to try and get the deals however, be aware that I'll be busy pushing old women and young kids out of the way so I can get them first, just think of what I'd do to YOU! :)

    j/k

All kidding aside, I figure there will be several of us standing there when they open, I hope that what we do is simply split what is for sale rather than hog it all. If 5 of us are standing there and there are 50 sets of one type, I'd like to see us split them fairly, 10 per person, rather than fighting over them.

Seems so much nicer, don't you think?

@sidersdd Greaaat, thanks so much for pointing that out. Now I am going to have another oversized Target box coming to my house. And here I was feeling good about myself yesterday for showing restraint and not ordering 8061. At ten bucks though, restraint walked out the door. And of course it would be wrong, just wrong, not to use the $7 of of $70 coupon, so I had to pile some other stuff in my cart along with it.
  • bor2112bor2112 Member Posts: 321
@voiceoreason Does your significant other buy that voice of reason when you justify that oversized Target box ;)
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Some of them have already sold out, the shuttle for example...

Sheesh, the credit cards are feeling the pain...

I know Target doesn't price match clearance, but does the store price match the online site? Some of those clearance items are only available in store at this time. I found out an oddity in their price matching policy last week. One Target would not price match the other Target store.
  • bor2112bor2112 Member Posts: 321
@malachirobertson I have tried at both my local Target stores...no luck

Target has more sets on clearance this week, lots of Star Wars and a few others, up to 66% off (most around 50%)
Following list is not complete, note a lot don't ship free so having a RedCard would be a plus.

    8085 SW Freeco Speeder - $8.98 (reg ???)
    8128 SW Cade Bane Speeder - $25.48 (reg $50.99)
    8097 SW Slave I - $55.98 (reg $79.99)
    8093 SW Plo Koon's Starfighter - $11.58 (reg $23.19)
    8089 SW Hoth Wampa - $19.98 (reg $39.99)
    8086 SW Tri Fighter - $17.48 (reg $24.99)

    2506 Ninjago Skull Truck - $24.30 (reg $48.60)

    8061 Atlantis Gateway of Squid - $10.11 (reg $28.89)
    8080 Atlantis Undersea Explorer - $15.04 (reg $42.99)
    8897 Atlantis Jagged Jaws Reef - $7.34 (reg $20.99)

    7570 PoP Ostrich Race - $6.98 (reg $19.99)

@andystar this list has been compiled in the Target 8061 discussion, but thanks for taking the time to put it together. I love the shopping tips, but my cc does not
  • andystarandystar Member Posts: 275
Ah, I can never find if these things are already covered since the thread names too specific, is there a way to change the thread names?
  • bor2112bor2112 Member Posts: 321
^Idk. Fairly new here. I, at least, wish you could add a note when you track a thread or just save bits of a thread. I have so many now that I still can't find why I saved it.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
I renamed the thread title since there is quite a bit on clearance. The prices have dropped from just yesterday so I'm ordering more and may return the previous purchase.

I broke my orders up in ~$70 increments to maximize the $7 off coupon. If you want to buy multiples, you can go to your purchase history and click "re-order" items.
  • bor2112bor2112 Member Posts: 321
@andystar I guess rocao answered the question...

@andystar: you did fine, the other thread was listing only 8061 because it was an older thread started before these latest markdowns occured.

I'm going to merge the two threads now. Also, I hope you guys don't mind, but I shortened some of the quotes (being sure to leave the relevant parts) to keep the original topic more readable so that people could get to the important point... CHEAP LEGO!

Just got back from Target brick and mortar...I checked the Hoth Wampa set and it was full price.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    Here is a bigger question...

Some of the items were on clearance last week for higher prices. Some of the items have shipped, some have not.

Since they are WELL within the return window, will Target customer service adjust the price on the existing orders to match the new lower clearance prices if I call in?

Is there is a good way to ask?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Dunno. Lemme know if you find out. I'm in the same boat. If I have time today I may give them a call.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
If it's consistent with their B&M policy, then the answer would be 'no', but as always, it's worth a try and let us know your results.

I'm personally not banking on it, so I just ordered as much as I wanted at the new price, with the intention of returning my previous purchases. I just need to remember and stick to my plan to return the original purchases.

    Thanks @DavidRod8:
Got a me a couple for a few sets at had prices way to good to pass up..
Missed out on Slave-1s though.. I think those were on sale too
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
Couldn't pull the trigger on this one. Great deals to be had but I am saving $ and LEGO storage space for the day after Xmas sale at LEGO.com and in store. Maybe foolish but I cannot keep buying so much LEGO!!! I still have to add the new DC sets to my collection for crying out loud!
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
@madforlegos: the price on Slave 1 was $55.98, so it wasn't on as steep a discount as the others, so that may be of some comfort to you.

^^ I hear you! More ostriches are so tempting for me, though. BUT, I'd be doing the $7 off $70 also, and then, it's no longer a $7 purchase! (Hey...there's a voice of reason there... :)
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,760
^--- considering the Slave-1 is sold out at LEGO it would have been nice to get a few. :-)

    @bmwlego:
    I hear you
I bought the sets that were 50% off, because at the most that is what will be charged at the LEGO sale if those sets went up.
Also I only bought two of each set I was interested (partly because of the LEGO sale coming up)
I figured that PoP sets, if present for the LEGO sale, will be 50% off at most, so I got a couple of Ostrich races.
Same with the other sets I got..
I kinda hope now that MMV and FB do not appear on sale for 50% off now though, money is getting tight

not that it helps much, but I think there is a 5 dollar off of $50 purchase somewhere in coupon land... Not sure though..

Argh. This is the 2nd good Target online sale I've completely missed. And IMO, there's not much left available online right now to rationalize a $70 purchase. That being said, I believe we're seeing a good representation of what TLG will have on sale on/about 12/25...
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,760
^--- Agreed. I still think that PoTC and Potter will also be discounted...
The question marks are The FB and MMV.. I also think there is a good chance that the Yellow cargo train may be discounted (as I still do not see LEGO wanting two Cargo trains being sold at the same time)
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
Just received a cancelation notice for the City of Atlantis set I ordered in Target's 50% sale. The bummer here is that it messes up some of the stacked discounts I applied to the order. I think I ordered this with the Emerald Night, and used a AAA discount of $10 off $100 order. But without the Atlantis set in the order, the total price goes below $100, so the discount won't be applied. Double bummer.

Oh well, now all I can do it set here and mope in the stacked of unopened LEGO boxes I have bought recently...

    :)

Check your online order summary. I am in the same boat as you are, 2 sets of City of Atlantis being cancelled. However, the remaining items (2 LEGO trucks, which I bet will be cancelled shortly) in that order still got a prorated "$10 off $100 discount", according to my online order summary.

  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,760
^-- I dunno I got a notice that the LEGO trucks will be arriving, but sometime in January.... Time will tell if this is a stall tactic by Target or if I am really getting these for a good price

I wouldn't bet on FB being discounted. It is on back order in the U.S. and a number of other countries. TLG generally discounts only the sets that are EOL. Unless the [email protected] info is wrong, FB has some additional life left in it.
