Really looking forward to a carnage set
  • NeilJamNeilJam Member Posts: 272
Didn't notice the update here last week. I just saw the new set names amongst the recently added sets on Brickset. Very excited to see Carnage is coming. I thought LEGO wouldn't have anything for Ant-Man after they skipped over other recent movies from Marvel studios, but glad they are doing a set for this along with the belated Winter Soldier minifig.

I may not be able to get the Helicarrier with all the other sets I want. Hope whatever exclusive minifigs inevitably come with it are just variations on characters instead of unique must haves like Coulson.

I'm hoping the Antman set will come in 2 "sizes"
One for minifigure scale and one to be able to use the fig like it is a tiny man on a much larger scaled model

    Does that make any sense?
    Felt like a weird sentence

Including Ant-Man as a microfig in addition to the minifig would be cool.

^^Well that means the smaller one will be sized as a microscopic piece of dust :)

I wonder if Rhino will be or bigfig, or anything like the customs/knock-offs on ebay.

I'm actually surprised by the look and quality of the knock offs. The Rhino along with the Thing, venom, juggernaut and even the hulk buster. These knockoffs are getting very good. Only if Lego would bring out all these characters.

The knock-off bigfigs ARE quite nice considering their cost and origin. Only problem with them is that there's so many now it feels a bit ridiculous displaying them. Overwhelms the display.

Marvel has got back some rights to Spiderman!
Expected to appear in Captain America 3: Civil War.

^ I have mixed feelings about this news. I desperately want to see Marvel's version of Spiderman but don't really want him as part of the Avengers as I think he will take too much screen time away from the others, which is always the killer in any ensemble cast film.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
Read a quote from Chris Evans (the actor, not the radio 2 DJ) that Civil War starts filming in April, so if Spider-man does make any sort of appearance, I imagine casting will leak out soon enough. Rumour seems to be Andrew Garfield not returning. I think it would take a bit too much to try and tie the 'Amazing Spider-man' movies in with the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, so feels like maybe Sony have cut their losses and come grovelling back to Marvel.
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
You have to remember in the comics spidey is often portrayed as a kid in awe of the avengers, almost a trainee hero. He wont be able to just step into the team. Wouldnt make sense, needs to earn his spurs

Makes you wonder if they'll try keep the characters separate and maybe use the Miles Morales version, which would be something new (and add a bit more racial diversity that the current Marvel Cinematic Universe is severely lacking).
  • AdeelZubairAdeelZubair Member Posts: 2,704
I like that now we can have Spidey in Avengers but I want to continue with Andrew, I was really looking forward to seeing Chirs Cooper as the real Green Goblin and ending the trilogy like that. I'm pretty sure Kevin Fiege can figure out some plans right? I also agree with Chris that he will take too much screen time away from the others.

They could be quite clever here and set up a Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, which would explain the lack of xmen/mutants if they ever manage to get that licence back (good luck with that Marvel) into the overall story so far and give them an easy reset button if they feel they need it, after all Comic book stories do quite often get to that point with so many contributors and characters that it can be the best option.

Might be a bit much to the average cinema goer though, Multiverse ideas are common in comic books but not so much in other media so a lot of the general public might not get it.

I think that it won't be too long before Marvel Studios has to start recasting some of the big names and that is likely to be a really tough time for them - I wouldn't be surprised if any actors who drop out have their character disappear from the cinematic universe for a few years so that the replacement doesn't feel so jarring.

On the plus side I think this increases the chance of some Lego sets based on Civil War and potentially the good relationship with Sony might mean more crossovers in both the films and the Lego we see as a result.

Just as an FYI you might not want to get your hopes up. After the Sony hack supposedly Marvel were really sticking to the point they wanted to recast and start as a fresh character and Sony were adamant they wanted final creative sign off on Spiderman choices. Since Sony have supposedly been granted that it's likely that Marvel have been given their condition too.

^Your right but the least they can do is cast J.K.Simmons at J Joanh Jameson and I'll be happy!

If they find a way to cast Emma Stone as Spider-Gwen, then all will be forgiven.

Avengers Tower is now available for purchase from Amazon.
  • SolariousSolarious Member Posts: 317
Man, I REALLY want to like that tower
Think I'm gonna have to see it in real life to make any real decision
  • ChubblesChubbles Member Posts: 459
Problem with the tower is I think you need two to make it look cool
  • I'm thinking a single tower among other sets might work pretty well without adding more height - Daily Bugle nearby to give the impression of a skyline, and a couple of the playset-type ones like the Helicarrier laboratory and AIM facility to provide some ground-level clutter and hide the tower's base.

Perhaps it'll have been removed (or rather, not rebuilt) in Age of Ultron, but looking at the tower at the moment I really miss the 'Stark' sign in terms of the overall look of the building. (I know it'd be on the far side of the platform in the current photo, but I'm assuming if the set had it they'd have photographed it the other way round to show it.)

I ordered mine a few days ago. It said in the email it was going to have a 2 day processing time. I received an email today saying it shipped and would be here tomorrow (I do have prime, btw). But I heard recently that they pulled them again.

Anyway, I'm glad to see that Iron Man has a few variants. Is it different in the Hulkbuster set also?
  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
I think the variants are #76029 is Mark 45, #76031, #76032 and #76038 are all Mark 43, and of course the Hulkbuster suit in #76031.

Great, thanks for the reviews. It sounds like you couldn't quite decide what grade to give the Avengers tower - B+, A (for Avengers), then settle on B+ ! ;-)

So it appears the new movie is showing off am Iron Man suit that is very close to the recent bleeding edge armour variant... I wonder what they will classify it as?

Just saw the pictures of the new marvel set.
Very disappointed by the robo version of the rhino.
And it is about time they had the spiderman variations.
The best is the ant man set. I like the huge lego blocks for perspective and e minifigures look great. Too bad they don't have a microfig.

Yeah but the Ant-Man set is a very clever set indeed! The LEGO bricks really set a scale for the minifigures in context but you can also use them as regular minifigures. I need those giant LEGO bricks for my LEGO Brand Store Modular Building MOC, hopefully those stickers will be transparent so we can create different coloured 'giant' bricks.

Now it makes me wonder if the LEGO bricks will be in the movie, or if it's just a nod to the LEGO brand!

Definitely want that Lego Juniors Green Goblin minifig! The Sandman and Iron Spider minifigs are good looking too. Not digging that Rhino though. I love how the use of sand in #76037.

My interest for Lego MCU sets has waned drastically though. They seem so bland (except the Ant Man set) and aren't appealing to me. I will be passing on all the movie sets.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
The Ant Man set is epic. The "giant" Lego bricks give it a great look and feel, and to get all three "Antmen" from the comic books? Fantastic.

I really don't like the Sandman/Rhino set. The Rhino looks awful. At least the minifigs are good. The Sandman and Iron Spiderman figs look great, and is that finally a red-booted Spidey? They actually got it right?

The Miles Morales/Carnage set is going to be a quick seller. Plus a generic Shield agent? Added to my want list...

  • johnhenzjohnhenz Member Posts: 101
Am I the only one that actually likes the sandman/rhino set then

@johnhenz - Don't worry, I like it too! The Rhino mech suit needs a bit of work but otherwise it is exactly what one would expect.

Not yet.. We need a DCPI Target number..
Also this set retails for $29.99 so I would wait before paying ebay prices.

I just picked one up last night from Meijer (US Midwest chain) in Mishawaka, IN. They had that, and the unremarkable-looking Hydra Chase set with Hawkeye/Thor. I bought it as a birthday present for my son but that's a month from now. He, uh, may get something else for his birthday.

  • Love the giant bricks in the Ant-Man set, that was a stroke of genius - really elevates a set that otherwise I'd be getting just for the minifigures into something I'm genuinely looking forward to for the whole.
