Jetsons Movie = Jetsons sets?

Kevin_HyattKevin_Hyatt UKMember Posts: 778
So it looks like a Jetsons movies going to be made. As its Warner Bros. who have a great relationship with LEGO, what do you reckon the chances are of a few sets to tie in?

I'd love to see the Jetsons in Lego form. Hell i'd love to see them just start doing everything that Hanna Barbera put out in the 60's-70's.

That would be awesome! I loved the Jetsons as a kid...of course, the show was well into reruns at that point :)

    Please make it stop.

When will TLG decide to step back from re-heats of franchises from decades ago?

I think Futurama as a cmf and Flintstones as an ideas set would be good

Cavemen is not a line that has really been tried yet besides a Duplo line in the late '90s and one CMF minifig.

    Two CMFs. Caveman and cavewoman.

If the Jetsons happens, then I demand Flintstones as well.

It seems like LEGO is really pushing the boundaries of what licensed themes they can create, and I think that's great. In-house themes will never go away, so I'd be very happy to see TLG experiment with other franchises, because at the very least it means more variety available to builders in parts, colors and minifigs.

I'm not so sure whether expanding massively the licensed ranges would be good or not.

On one hand, there are all the new parts and minifigs, and tapping in to other fan bases which is good for Lego's bottom line.

On the other hand, there is over saturation. Even I am getting a bit bored with Lego turning up everywhere. Like the recent Top Gear ad, I found I was thinking this is nothing new, even confused.com got there before Top Gear. When you don't have much, it is rather special. If everything becomes lego-ised it will all start being a bit mundane. More aimed at fan groups, than Lego fans.

I don't think everything should be or needs to be turned into LEGO and I always groan when I hear about a prospective license, yet I always smile when I see the end results.

I haven't watched the Jetsons since I was a kid. They were re-runs but I still remember really enjoying them. heck, I think my dad watched them as a child. I would enjoy seeing them done in LEGO, especially if they were bases on the originals and not some new movie. Nostalgia = $$$$

I think Jetsons would be fine. Isn't Scooby Doo Hanna Barbera? If they already have that license, the rest shouldn't be a problem...

I am for the Jetsons as well. And yes Scooby Doo and The Jetsons were Hanna-Barbera properties. I'd like some Yogi bear and Bubu too please in an upcoming CMF line!

I always forget Johnny Quest- which is crazy because I love the Venture Brothers

Didn't they do Space Ghost too?
That be cool, but his ship looks very much like a re colored lego X-Men Blackbird

    Wasn't there a Batman/Scooby Doo rip-off too?
Blue Falcon or something like that

    Honestly the possibilities are enless

I loved Jetsons! They wouldn't work well as minifigures, though--their body shapes would be closer to minidolls.

I see Jetsons like I see TLR movie. Well beyond its peak popularity. I for one would not want to see a LEGO Jetsons line. I liked the Jetsons, but I think them as a LEGO line is a bad idea.

I doubt we'll see a Flintstones set any time soon, I thought the creators of Family Guy were bringing it back, unsure if it'll be suitable for kids (it was originally never a kids show)

^ I could live without Rescue Rangers even though I watched that show all the time, but the other 3 would be awesome. The Tale Spin plane and Louie's would make good sets.

What about Wacky Races? Good range of figures and nice selection of vehicles. I would definitely live a Muttley figure!
    VBaskin2008
  • CCCCCC UKMember Posts: 18,459
I don't think they will necessary need the depth for the range of figures in a TV show, there are huge numbers as it is. So if they did Wacky Races, it would probably be just Dastardly and Muttley and Penelope Pittstop (overlapping with the two spin-off series).

I would like to see sets for Jetsons and Flintstones, but I don't think there was enough relevant places in the show to warrant more than two sets each- the house and main character's place of work.

What I would like to see are some Jonny Quest sets, probably from the different eras.
