    :)

This was commented on in another thread... Picked up 5 of them today... You would think at that price they would go quickly, but who knows, that is a lot of money to "invest" in something that isn't a licensed property.

@LegoFanTexas Even though this set does not carry any license, like PotC or Pirates, it fits well with the Pirates theme, plus the ship itself is very detailed, and it is probably the best ship LEGO has ever released, so I think this one will be worth at least $300+ in 1 year. It's one of those sets that a lot of people let pass by and will regret not getting when it was available after it retires.

Im not sure that Pirates is a licence theme, unless Lego are paying royalties to the descendants of Long John Silver.
    Its a great set indeed.

I tried to purchase it online. But Amazon.com doesn't ship this item to where I live. Bummer :(

    Plus a FREE Gund Bear!

Just search for "Amazon Gund", add the Amazon exclusive bear to your cart, and the price of the bear is automatically deducted at checkout. It's not Lego, but hey, it's a free bear!

I'll keep one for my daughter. The rest will go to a toy drive.

When I bought 8 of some other set LegoFanTexas said:
it removes items they can sell to all the other customers.

Amazon has over a thousand of them in stock, I don't think I'm harming any poor kid for Christmas by buying 5. Besides, Amazon has a very sensible rule, you can only buy 5 a day of most Lego sets, some are even limited to 3 a day.

Oh, thanks. I didn't realize they were still doing this. I have a few already - plan to drop off at Toys for Tots.

Nice find, too bad my personal limit on this is one and I had bought it elsewhere a while back at RRP, even then I consider it a 'deal'. I don't have a good idea usually on which sets will appreciate in value but firmly expect this set to do so. To me if I were looking to speculate this set is where I'd put my money... it's just that impressive.

The IF is also at Walmart.com for $150, which is probably why Amazon has it at that price. They have free shipping to store or $0.97 to ship to home.

Wonder how long the IFs will last in stock, appears they both have a lot, considering Walmart previously had it listed at $259 or some ridiculous price.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
It's back up to $179 on Amazon.

sold out in Europe...ebay got some spare ones...suspect that one will go above USD/EUR 200 soon....

I suspect that since Amazon was price matching Walmart, once Walmart sold out Amazon went back to the original price.

...Its kinda funny that they sold out at Walmart before Amazon, considering in many states you will get it tax free via Amazon

It's back in stock at [email protected] is going on?

    not back in Europe...only US

^^---- I think that LEGO must occasionally ask LEGO stores to return stock or something.. then they sell them online maybe? Kinda weird to see them back after being sold out for a few weeks, especially if the UK also does not have them.

I was at two Lego stores (Anaheim and Costa Mesa) yesterday and both had quite a lot of the IF on the shelves still.

Listed as "Call to Check Availability" at Lego.com. Sold out in Europe.

In short...it's EOL'd and those who have sets have a classic.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,755
It appears the entry for it, and EN, are gone completely from LEGO.com
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
I just searched on [email protected], you're right, the listing is gone...

Makes me wonder how many Amazon is really getting, how much longer 999 will work in their inventory, because when those are gone, I think they are gone.
  • DavidRod8DavidRod8 Member Posts: 143
I just checked Amazon and they are out of them... :( I guess their inventory system was not working very good...
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    They might be back ordered....
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,755
I think Amazon figured out that people were using it to determine how many are left and set some rule that states someone asking for 'X' or higher will show as in stock, but does not necessarily show a true number... just a guess IMO
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Perhaps, but does Amazon really care that much?

Besides, it did show the count in stock below 20, it counted down all the way to 1, showing as (more on the way), which of course tells me that they have more coming.

    Unless they don't. :)
