So many good ones to choose! Hmm... My top
fivesix in no particular order:#9442 Jay's Storm Fighter
I absolutely love the distribution of color on this set (sans the underbelly with the sporadic white). The fanning blades was probably one of my favorite functions.
#9443 Cole's Tread Assault
The fact that this set was not only a fearsome looking tank vehicle, it also had built in camouflage, something I haven't seen since!
#9446 Destiny's Bounty
You really can't go wrong with this set (well... if there was a bigger version...). This thin, yet stylish ship had plenty of features, was a very niche set by design. I only wish I had enough room to display it constantly. I hope #70738 lives up to it's predecessor.
#9448 Samurai Mech
I felt that this was our first mech since Exo-Force that was really up to standards in quality. Sure it doesn't have that sheath we all wish it had, but the fact that this ruby among Lego mech gems had such personality makes it one of my favorites.
#9449 Ultrasonic Raider
I was really skeptical about this thing, originally. It truly is a work of art. It's bulky and slim, smooth and sharp all at the same time. The fact that it had a flight mode was icing on the cake (I love transforming Lego sets). My only gripe is that there isn't seats for all of the ninja, but with a quick modification, it's all good in the end.
#70504 Garmatron
What may be considered the dark horse of Ninjago sets, the Garmatron is a fantastic set. Despite it's petite appearance on the box, this set is menacing in the flesh...er... brick. General Kozu is one of my favorite minifigures to date. The cannon was also a nice touch.
If we were allowed to consider all sets, this list would be very different (#2507 anyone?).
I am definitely a fan of the architecture like the ninjago city set (roofs and the dragon windows).
My son and I also like mechs, we were able to bricklink all the parts to make the custom mechs for Zane, Cole, Jay, and Lloyd from Artifex Creation on youtube. They are modeled after Kai's Fire Mech, it is really cool to have a little army of ninja mechs to battle the baddies!
Bear in mind, there are a lot of the sets that I haven't built that might be better than I give them credit for. #9449 is a brilliant and creative design that seats all four Ninja and even has storage for their golden weapons. I have #9448 still sitting in its box — I originally got it to review for The Ninjago Wiki (ninja.brickcraft.me), but now that said website is defunct I've just been holding onto it for a rainy day (hopefully, a rainy day when my room is tidier so I have room to display it and don't just have to box it up again when I'm done)!
