Just bought these @ local TRUs #70817 #75078 #75090 and #75081 been looking for the Rebels Tie Fighter #75082 saw the price tag on a shelf but none were available. One TRU had all the 2015 Microfighters and about 6 of the other 2015 SW sets.

Will be buying on the first:Detective's Office No. DC Superheroes Nope. It's going to be the new creator. Wait.. Did I just say Creator?! Whaaaaat?

Seriously - Am I the only one who thinks the early 2015 lineup includes some really superb sets? Rainforest Animals, Red Creatures, and Future Flyers - some of their best work in my opinion. I can't wait to get my hands on those.

I am currently parting together a Town Hall, and looking to pick up an Arkham Asylum on the cheap. Well as cheap as it can be. At this point RRP would do it. My local toy shop is trying to track one down for me. They have their own VIP points that mirror TLG's. So I will have $30 off if they do find one.

sorry but not me. I see a big quanity of items but not much stuff on my "to look into list" that's a definite buy. My current list works out like this:

Definite buys: 2 of the mother rabbit and baby sets, 1 pet ambulance, and series 6 animals when/if they come out. top priority are the series 6 animals.

Debating: Simpsons wave two Comic book guy and mixels boogly, nicksput, and/or rockit.

Not sure which to put it on: Mia's Roadster. Pending the price in the states, it could be debating. Friends lighthouse is on the line also

This year, rediscovering Lego and taking part of my first convention makes one go crazy trying to catch up.

The highlights of the year have been:

All of the 2014 Star Wars lineup except the value packs, #75055, #75058, #75059, and highly exclusive promos.

    Older Star Wars: #8009, #9500, #75020

    Other sets:
    #6860
    #10214
    #76023

I also am trying to piece together the two Avatar sets. I wish I had collected them when they came out.

Building a few SW dioramas so with the Imperial scene I was getting alot of black and grey stuff from BL.
Got a B Wing for Xmas so at least with that scene I can get a bit of colour involved. Bought some pilots from eBay. Just trying to think of what else to do.
Also got the Exo Suit aswell so I'm ideas for that scene and weather or not I need another suit!

Quick question. In the store you can build your own figures. Can you build space men from that?

Nice, I like that liitle store! I will have to check by, UCS slave 1 is a must-buy for me.(maybe two)

@Jdslater - it's highly dependent on what's in the "minifigure bar" at the time. IIRC, most of the parts are from the CMF line. I don't think I've ever seen anything from a set, but I don't always check.

Yep. Me and my siblings had been planning to get the Birds set for my Dad's late Christmas present (he is an avid bird watcher). But then I saw I just needed £10 more to qualify for free shipping and the flower cart...so 10 minutes later and I was checking out with an Exo-Suit I never planned to buy...still...could be worse, right?

    In the mail;

    Slave 1, 30 series 12 minifigs, 2 flower carts, mini AT-DP

    Looking for in stores;

    T16 Skyhopper, Double decker couch

    Main want list;

    Detective's office.

Really trying to control my spending, this hobby can get out of hand pretty fast.

I waited in an hour line up at the Oakridge mall Lego store to get my hands on the Slave 1 which sold out 30 mins before the store even opened (an employee did a tally of who was buying). When I got there there was one other guy. He turned to me and said "You waiting for the slave 1 as well?"
    "Yes..."
"Well, I think we might be able to get one."

After the wait I was guaranteed the second Slave 1 and I got #21114 #21113 #70818 #70817 and #75081 . I also got three freebies! Flower cart, mini AT-DP and the Lego store employee from the coupon from December's calendar.

Just out of interest, how long does it usually take a S@H order to process/ship? Because I ordered last Friday with the 3-5 day shipping, and they only told me it has shipped on Tuesday!
  • 3stackshs3stackshs Member Posts: 299
Hit or miss. I placed 2 orders same day. All in stock items. Second order shipped the next day. First order shipped 6 days later.

Bummer. I'm back to uni on this weekend, and the packet had my dad's late Christmas present in (Birds - he's an avid birdwatcher). There's still a chance it'll arrive on Friday, though!

    Trying to slow down.

Most of these 2015 sets will be on sale much later in the year, so I'm focusing on the ones I want to build which leads me to...

the 2013/2014 sets on clearance and the minifigures.

I want all of the 2015 series 2 SW microfighters but those can wait.

I picked up the B-Wing and Umbaran to build as they were on sale.

Found Series 4 Mixels at Target. Only picked up one that interested me (don't really collect them). I go home to find out that they are not supposed to be released until February. Do I go back and buy the rest to quick flip?

    yes

    I concur.

Mixels 3 was released early accidentally at a local TRU and I flipped those packs for $12-13 each.

    Some people just can't wait.

Picking up Hobbit sets as they reach the end of the line. Love the books, love the films, but didn't feel the love for most of the sets. And forgot Birds was out, off to get that too...

Picking up the rest of the City Arctic sets, 2014 Ninjago, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The city sets are for one of my kids, TMNT for another, and Ninjago is for yet another (ok, that last one is a lie, they are for me ;-) ).

I went crazy and just bricklink'd Cafe Corner. I bought all the Modulars with the exception of Palace Cinema, Grand Emporium and Green Grocer ( I just haven't had a chance to order and or research the GE and the GG) I also bought the new Star Wars Micro ships, Birds, Valentines Day Vignette, the new Creator Red Creatures, Go Kart, Toy & Grocery Shop, all the Master Academy Sets (our LEGO Store had them on sale), The Creator Bike Shop and many many more sets, oh yeah I also bought all the Winter Village Sets.

I just got back into LEGO and wanted to get caught up. I'm not sure if I'll ever have time to build them all.

@stuckonminis‌ - Obviously, you don't have to listen to me, but a friendly tip... start building and slow down (or stop) buying. I always find that I run into trouble when I am only buying and not building.

Otherwise it'll end up just being a stack of cardboard boxes (and the motivation to tackle the large pile just won't be there as much) and not a happy, bustling city/winter village layout :)

Thanks for the advice and you're correct I have a sea of boxes but I am building. It took me almost 2 months to build my winter village and it just took me a week to break it down and sort it...

I love to take my time building them but with a fulltime regular job and what's turning into a fulltime side business it's hard for me to carve out building time.

Right now I don't know where to start

Here's my first ever build of more than one building.

I envy people who have piles of unopened Lego. I tend to save up for ages, buy a modular I want, build it over a few days, and spend the rest of the time saving up for the next modular. Must be nice to have lots of disposable income.

@Jern92, my trick is to sell the minifigs online or wait and buy at 50-70% off, sell the pieces, and then use the money made to buy the sets I want. I have not spent anything but Lego-made money on my personal Lego collection in the past year. Medical bills and saving up for a wedding ring have made "Lego" money only available through this method.

^^yes, it is nice to be able to drop $4-500 a pop on something as frivolous as Lego. But I'm also 40 and worked my a$$ off in grad school and in my career to get to this point. You'll be there one day too!

I agree wrangler6915, at 51, I work 15-18 hr days 5 days a week and 8 hour days on most weekends. I have a full time job plus my side business. When I was younger I couldn't afford to buy LEGO in mass quantities, I would maybe buy 1 set every year. I don't smoke or drink hard liquor so that saves a lot of money :) Due to hard work I figure I finally make enough money to buy pretty much whatever I want and now I happen to want lots of LEGO sets. If I get tired of LEGO I can always sell it and recoup all the money I just dropped in the last 6 months.

My method is to buy only what logically fits in a city, regardless of how tempting everything else may be. At the moment I'm just accumulating modulars and road plates and loose bricks to be used to expand the city, as well as minifigures to populate it. Nothing much to be sold in any of the sets I have, because I need all of them.

Well, I just finished university (and all the Lego I bought came from working and saving up during uni), so will be interesting to see how I fare with a full time job. Looking forward to the time when I can buy more sets!

I don't smoke or drink at all, so I do understand what you mean by saving a helluva lot from not doing those things. I'm pretty much a homebody so not much spent on going out or having fun. Whatever's leftover after deducting normal expenditure and savings, I spend on Lego.
