TRU dropped the Technic plane to about $100 around the beginning of Nov. It lasted about an hour online, I think. I saw it very early and had the chance to buy but I passed, assuming that the sale would at least be repeated if not beaten around BF. No dice. Yet.

Anyone else noticed the first wave turtles sets doing well, especially the kraang one..

Toysrus has $20 off $150 when paying with your mastercard. Use promo code MC20. Worked on hard to find/exclusives for me. No limit per card but there is a few thousand redemption limit. Most of the good stuff for short termers are gone but there is some very nice bonus affiliate cashback for TRU floating around if you play the long game.

#10240 UCS X-wing showing as 'Out of stock, expected ship date null' in the UK... I haven't seen that before. Also #10188 is currently OOS, perhaps it's finally going!?!
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405

My order currently shows as "in the warehouse," so we'll see what happens. It' my bad for not getting it sooner if they end up not shipping it though; I've been thinking about getting this set for awhile now and just didn't get around to it.

Well, not holding out much hope for getting my GPR. It's listed as "In Warehouse," but if it hasn't shipped yet it probably isn't going to ever ship. Win some...lose some.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
GPR has been on and off my 'want list' repeatedly since it's release. At first it was 'yes' since its a large Technic racer, which isn't often that you get one. Then it was 'nay' since the older Ferrari F1 looked better. Then it was 'yes' again since the look was growing on me and the Ferrari pricing was a turn-off on closer thought. Then it was 'nay' since the GPR never saw any good discount during it's run and there have been so many higher priority System Lego still on the list. But then the Le Mans Racer was previewed and the GPR would look great with it, so it was put back on the list. Next thing you know, it goes OOS on short notice. Damn me for half-stepping it all the way to EOL!

As a F1 fan, #42000 GPR is really disappointing compared to #8458 Silver Champion or #8461 Williams F1. It is OK on its own and I agree will probably look really nice beside the upcoming Le Mans car.

^Yeah...I tried adding the GPR to my cart last night as it showed available, but their system wouldn't let me add it. I think [email protected] was flaking out a little bit. The lady I spoke to this morning in Customer Service acted like they had quite a few based on her response when I asked. My order currently shows as "in the warehouse," so we'll see what happens. It' my bad for not getting it sooner if they end up not shipping it though; I've been thinking about getting this set for awhile now and just didn't get around to it.

By the way, it's worth calling customer service to see if they have any left. You never know...

Thanks for the tip! I called them and they took my order for 1 GPR at $103 with free shipping. He said it looked like they had 3 left and he thinks I might get it. Praise to the righteous Farmer_John! I think you'll get your GPR for sure.

Give them a call BrickDancer.....there's still time.

^I hope you're able to pick yours up. I don't think they use a FIFO ordering system, so it never hurts to try. It's likely possible to cut ahead of earlier orders (unintentionally) just based on the semi-random nature of how their system works. So it's probably a YWSYLS (you win some, you lose some) ordering system...

It's not going. It is in the 2015 European retail catalog. Some other things of note:

*Large Technic crane #42009 also sticks around with 42008.
*The Coast Guard stuff gets a third year and (not surprisingly) so does the fire stuff.
*Some of the 2014 City Great Vehicles are gone after one year - SUV with Watercraft, Airport Fire Engine, Tow Truck and Light Repair Truck. Also gone after one year is 60045 (the oversized police pickup).
*Friends Dolphin Crusier sticks around another year.
    FollowsClosely

Is the Simpsons house #71006 going to retire soon since they are coming out with the Kwik-E-Mart?

^Wow...I'm surprised TLG would double down on the Simpsons. There are still piles of Simpson CMFs at our local Target and TRU. And people talk about trains being a niche market...

Hi @enotoga - I shockingly received it in the mail today. I didn't even know it was coming, so it was a nice surprise. Glad to know that yours shipped as well. Getting an item on sale with double VIP points from TLG is nearly unheard of these days and a nice way to end the year.

    Merry Christmas to us! :-)

Those are two sets that I expected to be gone a year ago. I'm expecting they will likely perform similar to the #6857 Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape.

The two sets you mention do look better (more sleek or something). I didn't even know TLG had those quality of Technic sets over a decade ago. I am going to have to get the new Le Mans set next year.

Over the past couple of months I've seemed to be more in tune with the sets TLG is EOLing and less in touch with the new sets to be released. Now the number of new sets I want to purchase seems to be growing exponentially (unlike my paycheck)...

They are already on track to match #6857. Hanging around seemingly forever.

At first blush, the #6857 Dynamic Duo Funhouse looked to have killer aftermarket potential because of the nice array of minifigs that comes with it. And it would have been if it had only been out for a year. However, it was out for almost two years at a reasonable price point (sub $50) with multiple opportunities to pick it up on sale. The perfect recipe for a slow aftermarket riser. That said, I still believe that patience with this set will be rewarded.

Well the saving grace is that they are not space killers. The problem is they are not space killers for all of the resellers hoping to make a killing on them as well. It appears they finally are rising a bit, though that may be due to the holidays.

Harley Quinn in a cheaper set (similar to the new Riddler) would gut the Funhouse. Not that the set doesn't have other stuff going for it, but she is the object of some serious subcult devotion. Like Deadpool.

My son has the #6857 set but I only wanted the minifigs. I grabbed the minifigs from BL while they were less expensive so I wouldn't have to open one of the few sets I do have. It probably would have been cheaper to just raid a set for the minifigs, but I was ordering parts anyway so the shipping cost was moot. The real value in this set is the minifigures...
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831

For AFOLs, sure. For kids, it has a lot of play features for a relatively small set. Of the sets I've bought for myself, my son spent more time playing with #6857 than any other set except #75014.
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405
^Agreed...this is definitely as set that kids love (at least based on the time my son spends with his set).

I have already purchased other miscellaneous parts (non-minifigure) from the #6857 set on BrickLink and they were very reasonably priced. I guess my point is that if I had to build a #6857 set from scratch, the biggest cost would be in the minifigures.

Exactly. This was one of the first examples of TRU having massive stock, post EOL. And still does today. I'm sure down the road this will do just fine. But it is really interesting how at the surface this can look like an immediate sure-fire hit, then turn into a dormant possible hit once TRU has finally loosen its grip.

The Funhouse is a perfect example of why it's not always smart to follow the herd. I think it's a neat set, but the way Lego is pumping out Superhero sets nowadays along with the sheer number of resellers there's no way that this set will crack $100 as many envisioned.

I expect it will hit $100. It's around $60-65 now, and TRU had stock online for much of the year. I think it will be close or above $100 by the end of the year, but like someone said above, if all of the minifigs end up re-released in other, cheaper sets, it certainly could put a damper on the price.

Ive offloaded 15 of these in the run up to Christmas which means the 8 I have left dont owe me anything. Feel a lot happier now. Just all profit on them going forward. Similar story with Batcaves. Two Face Chase though, im holding them a lot longer.

Never say never. It is unlikely, but not impossible.
This also all depends on if these figures are going to be in other sets as those exact figures any time soon. If not then the sets will climb. Plus if Harley is not coming out this year, and the Joker available is the guy with the hat and trench coat, this set could rise due to that. Plus Riddler I believe is different than the one in the other set as well.
And Robin I believe is not in any new sets (as he is designed in the Funhouse set that is)

Target online has Malibu Mansion 76007 for $21.99. I don't expect it will last very long at that price, especially when the "other" website posts it if they haven't already.

#60036 is a brilliant play set for kids, a great parts pack for adults, and been on special deals a lot. I'd say it'll be a long term winner if it was purchased around the £42 mark.
