According to the manager at one of the LEGO stores I visit the early 2015 wave that the brand stores are getting is done and was mostly part of the city/creator sets. The usual place stuff shows up early is TRU since they don't seem to heed the street date markings on the boxes so that'd be my guess of where they got them. I'm heading to TRU tonight so I'll take a look and see if mine has anything out yet.

They have been found in a few stores in Hungary too.

I think LEGO really missed a trick by not getting these out in time for Christmas worldwide. They could have had one of the top toys on their hands.

I just want the Super Heroes sets to arrive in time. The Metrocentre LEGO Store staff said they would put the new sets out when they got them, but they had no idea when that would be.

Lego did just fine by keeping these out before the holidays. If they'd put them out, you just KNOW that people would have bought them up and then jacked up the price on eBay and Amazon, making them look bad because people would say, "I can't find it in the store, and they're selling it online for $xx.xx, thus making sure people stop shopping for Lego because in their short experience with it, it was too expensive.

@luckie_reubs‌ - I disagree. Although reselling would be an inevitable issue, LEGO would still make money and would not be vilified in the eyes of the majority of consumers. Producing one of the most popular Christmas toys in a particular year improves your reputation far more than a shortage of sets to sell would damage it.

As long as a parent can buy that toy, at an inflated price or otherwise, they would be happy.

@CapnRex101‌ you're not a parent are you? There was tonnes of feedback about what bad value last years minecraft set was when exactly the same happened. Sure some parents were glad to get it but I'm sure it left a sour taste in most mouths.

In the (predominantly) girls market which Lego have just got a foothold in with friends they don't want to give a bad experience. For a patent who's not accustomed to LEGO they already think its expensive at RRP. If they've paid 3xRRP on eBay they'll think LEGO is a big waste of money and turn them off. They'll tell their friends and Facebook and you know what its a criticism of LEGO that has legs. They had the toy of last year, they'll almost certainly have the toy of next year. And the frozen sets will be what all the girls want for their birthdays etc etc. They won't lose a single sale.

Lego have a toy in the top five every year anyway.

@cheshirecat‌ - I am not a parent, but I suspect buying the toy their child would like is more important to most parents than the price they pay for it, within reason of course. However, I am not speaking from experience so may be wrong.

If LEGO had planned to put the Frozen set out in November I think they would have been able to satisfy demand even if some were bought up by resellers, thus preserving their reputation and pleasing a lot of parents and children this Christmas.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
I'm sure if they could have they would have, but they've not been able to satisfy demand for a range if sets the last few months. They did the right thing here.

^ Fair enough. I just wish the UCS Slave I had come out in October as usual, as that would be one guaranteed Christmas present for me!

^^^ No doubt some parents don't mind what the price is. But some people, especially in the US had to pay $100+ for the minecraft set. Once they see what they get for that price, they see Lego is not worth it.

    Merry Christmas

Try Toys R Us or Target. They are usually the first to release them early.

Target DCPI codes below - which you can bring with you to a Target and have the customer service person check their inventory:

    #41062 Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle - 086-14-2474
    #41063 Ariel's Undersea Palace - 086-14-2487

I am a parent, and they absolutely drop the ball EVERY year by releasing things 5 days after Christmas. My feelings on this manner were covered in the other thread, so I'll leave it at that.

Thank you SO much for those DPCIs!

I called the Lego store in NC, and they said they didn't have them. I tried calling TRU customer service to have them check the country for a store that had them, and it wouldn't let the guy do the search. So where those on ebay came from is still unknown.

One thing about what Captain Rex said though.....I want to get this for my daughter for Christmas very, VERY badly....but I am not paying some scumbag $120. I wouldn't mind a slight markup, but a $60 to $80 dollar markup is criminal. I'm sure they'll sell to someone though, which is what keeps the scalpers going.

So where those on ebay came from is still unknown.

Targets down south got them in stock yesterday afternoon. Call them and give them the DPCI number and they can check if it is in stock. The rest of us will have to wait a few weeks to get our hands on them. Was going to fly down to GA today but the local resellers have already cleaned most of them out. I do suggest picking this set up if you get the chance as resellers will keep it sold out everywhere for a long time to come.

  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I have two different feelings on this.
    A) They managed to do a limited online run of Minecraft, but could not manage a limited run of one set that would be the most wanted sets for girls.

    B) There is no way they could meet demand for both Minecraft and Frozen even for an online only release in November and there would been some really ticked parents that the set was not available.

I have also been trying to find the set, but I think my chance is Nil until January.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 Member Posts: 1,431
People are going to buy Lego anyway. Why give them something new to buy when there is an entire year's worth of stock on the shelves? I think they are being smart about it.

@doriansdad Is absolutely correct. From a quick check of ebay, it looks like the Frozen set was available in NC, AL and GA. So there's still a chance these could make in under the tree this year.

So frustrating to see them in stock in Atlanta... when I'm in Minnesota.

Arggggghhhh... I hope this is as easy to find as the Movie sets were last year before Christmas at Toys R Us.... but I doubt it. I've got two little girls that would love to see this under the tree.

found this, seems to show several in the atlanta area but all too far away from me

FWIW, I discovered a few more DCPI codes at Target when playing with one of the scanners tonight.

    #41061 Jasmine's Exotic Palace 086-14-2486

    #41095 Emma's House 086-14-2498
    #41090 Olivia's Garden Pool 086-14-2481
    #41086 Vet Ambulance 086-14-2489

How do you play with the scanners?

At some Target stores the price scanner has numeric buttons. It allows you to enter a DCPI code and check inventory. I just entered a few sequentially around the same numbers as those above.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
I know about entering the DPCI code but changing numbers... very smart...

I have several stores in my area that show having the Frozen set in inventory at the link posted above, but when I call the stores they have no idea what I'm talking about, even with the DCPI number. Either the inventories are off, or the store staff isn't very good at checking for new items... They are too far for me to start driving around to them, so I'll have to keep calling to see if someone can find them in the back.
  • goshe7goshe7 Member Posts: 515
^Lookup worked for me. They had to dig them out of the back, but I got one of the new Frozen sets.

This was a brand new Target and the in store scanner did not have number buttons s to enter the DCPI. Had to find an associate to locate them for me.

Already gone apparently. I want one of these, but I think I'll wait awhile. I'd rather see them get into the hands of children who can't wait for it first. Good luck to all of you parents hunting for one before Christmas!

If anyone can help me source an Ice Castle before Christmas I (and my little girl) would be quite grateful. I could even swap you a MISB Jabba Sail Barge or something else cool for it if you preferred.

There was one Target about 20 miles away from where I live that had 23 in stock last night. I finally got there after work today and somebody had wiped them all out of the stockroom. There were still some other Princess sets in the stockroom, but those ones I can wait on.

I was able to secure 2 of the frozen castle. One is already spoken for, so I have one up for grabs. Would love to trade it for a 330003 Lego store + cash. If that's impossible, I will sell it for a very reasonable price.

Oh, sorry, I see it's 3300003. Got it.
I would say that a #3300003 plus cash vs a very reasonable price.. I would pick the latter. :-)

Definitely a weird request, but will anyone that has been fortunate enough to find the set be able to post the box dimensions and set weight? I am trying to determine if some of the shipping charges on the eBay listings are accurate or also marked up.
  • JerseyManiacJerseyManiac Member Posts: 10
My wonderful sister has secured the Frozen and Jasmine sets in VA. That Target tracking site was a huge help. I still say these should have been available in November, but as long as I got it without have to pay a d bag scalper, I'm happy.

Does anyone know the DCPI for the Sleeping Beauty set? Its the only one I haven't seen posted anywhere.

  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
@veign06‌ Awesome tool you found there for checking the stock at Target! I will use this in the future. I've been playing around with it and sadly, I can't find any of the Frozen or other new Disney Princess sets in my state (NJ - We're a dead zone for early releases and good deals on LEGO). Seems like my closest Target is pretty wiped out on other sets too. Does anyone know if there's a similar way to check TRU stocks?

Off topic, but has anyone else noticed that on Target.com, under the product details for Lego sets, it says "No assembly required?" Thought that was kinda funny.
  • veign06veign06 Member Posts: 136
Yep! Will be using it for anything target related lol. It seems to be very accurate. Called up the nearest Target store that had it in stock and the front desk said they would only hold me 1 and only for 24 hours so I'm on my way to pick it up now.
