It isn't a LEGO model it was just a picture they used to go along with the confirmation article.

I'm curious to know how the piece count is going to go considering the 199.99 price point. The TIE advanced came in at 1200 pieces roughly and was $99.99.

#10240 was 1559 for $199 so I would guess the Tie will be ~1450-1500 for $199.

I am very glad the UCS Slave I came first, makes it easier on me to let a TIE go where as had the TIE came first I'd probably be trying to find cash for both by now :P

I though that the #9492 was an excellent model. It was pretty much the same scale as the #10179 so you could make some nice dioramas with the sets. Not sure how they can improve on it other than just make it bigger. Hopefully the new TIE will be the same scale as #75032 (USC X-wing).

^ Huh. Looks like the UCS X-Wing shrunk. ;)

After the glory of the UCS Slave I, a UCS TIE will have to be super-spectacular as well. I'm in an unusual position in that I would like to pose it next to my UCS TIE Interceptor, but that came out in the days of blue-accented TIE Fighters, so it is going to look out of place...unless I replace all the blue parts with light grays.

Yeah, I would imagine that Lego would redo that one as well at some point, but I don't see that happening for a long time; especially with the new movie due next December. I would imagine that they would want to cash in on all 3 of the new movies before rehashing an old model, although it really needs a refreshing.

I would totally be up for a redux of the UCS TIE Interceptor. To be honest, I didn't take very good care of mine. It got super-dusty and I never applied the information sticker on correctly. To remedy that, 12 year-old me thought it best to use scissors to trim the top...horrible idea!
