The Next Winter Village Set?

So what are your predictions/suggestions/wishes for the next installment in the WV series?

I think an old fashion small town church with a high steeple would look nice, maybe throw in some carolers.

Or a plain old house that comes with a sleigh and deer to land on the roof.

    ^ do TLG make churches or other religious buildings, I don't recall ever having seen one before, could be wrong. I was wondering this recently after building all the other winter series sets recently, what's next? Honestly, other than a plain old house, I'm really not sure and am short on inspiration right now, a sweet shop?

    I think i read somewhere that Lego would avoid religious buildings and Pubs (despite the fact they once made a Lego Castle themed Pub back in the day (I think)). but those aside there could be other buildings, a village hall, maybe a school building, the sweet shop would be ok but i agree after that i struggle to think of much else as well.

    Keep in mind the theme...

    I would hope maybe something like a:

    Train Station
    Candy Shop
    House (with a tree and stuff inside)

    I could see (and hope for) the following:

    City Park/Commons with a large tree
    Department Store
    Candy Store
    "Toy Factory"


    A church would be really nice, but I don't expect it from LEGO.

    I'm with @Rollo_Tomassi...I would like to see a winter village church as the next installment in the WV series. I mean...it's kind of the reason for the season as they say...but maybe I'm just old fashion. I do know it is impossible to pass through any "villages" that contain toy shops, post offices, and bakeries without seeing a church nearby somewhere. Therefore, not having one would be a obvious and glaring void.

    Other ideas include:

    A tree salesman (with lots of lego trees to cut down)
    Old-fashioned city hall
    Ski shop with a ski slope (we actually made one of these on our own and added Series MFs related to skiing)
    I like the City Park too.
    I like the idea of a plain house with reindeer on top too.

    Actually, I think another item that is a glaring void is the lack of a very large white plate to build everything on. Now that would be nice! I'm tired of wasting lots of white legos covering up green plates. I would rather use my white legos for my ski slopes.

    @BTHodgeman - I like the City Park/Commons idea - with a nice big decorated Christmas tree and some carolers; maybe a small stand selling wreaths and mistletoe, or hot cider & cookies... :o)

    I believe you are referring to the Guarded Inn, nice pieces in that set.. it was also redone as part of the Legends line.
    But it was an 'Inn' not a pub.

    Besides I doubt there would be any drunkenness, not with all the LEGO Cops around...lol

    Maybe a hayride, or small 'Inn' will be made

    I suppose I should have said 'church-like' building. A school or TownHall would serve the same function. I was just thinking of a classic steeple style building.

    The Candy Store idea seems pretty popular.

    I very much like @Legogeek's idea of a Train Station.

    @Farmer_John - I love the idea of a tree lot. Have different sizes and/or colors of green, with a little booth. That would be a really cool set.

    @Farmer_John. I used a big sheet of that white, slippery foam stuff they use for shipping as my base. It's flat enough for everything to sit on, and you can position all the buildings and extras like the ice rink and tree organically, and not be limited by a baseplates strict ridgidity. It works pretty well as simulation 'snow'

    Candy Store would be sweet.

    Would like to see a Ski Resort with a lift, ice skating rink, or a city center tree lighting ceremony

    Count me in on the candy shop.

    I think a Santa's workshop would also be great if they decide to expand beyond the village and head to the North Pole.

    I think a church would be fantastic. And despite the "Winter Village" name, this is a Christmas line, and Christmas is by definition religious. I mean, they make advent calendar's for goodness sake! They don't call them "countdown calendars", they call them Advent calendars, so they already sell religious items.

    Anyway, I like the idea of a town square too, but we already have a pretty sizeable tree in the Winter Toy Shop so not sure how likely that is.

    I imagine we'll see another Christmas train before it's through.

    And I was also wondering if anyone has put together the holiday giveaway sets yet? Mine are still in boxes, but I was wondering if they are on a scale that we could see more sets over the years that would combine to make a house that would fit in with the Winter Village theme.

    for this theme, I could see a country-style church being produced. My logic is this: TLG still say that they do not produce guns, yet special themed series and sets do indeed contain guns (and more and more each year). Also, TLG says that they only have minifigures in one skin tone, to represent all skin tones; though, again, with the special themes, the issue of skin tone has "left the building," so to speak.

    So, along the lines of a special theme like the winter village, such a building is not entirely out of the question...

    @avoiceoreason, I have built the holiday giveaway sets. I do not see these sets fitting in to a pre-existing line. These sets are like snap-shots of a moment. I really enjoy them, but with the square sides and the smooth tops, these sets are just fun for what they are, office conversation pieces :)

    The ski lodge is my favorite, but I'd imagine that would be getting up to the $89-99 price point, which may put it out of reach for a lot of people.

    The church is nice too, and scale-wise, actually fits with the rest of the village, but I'd personally want a larger church.

    I like the church, except that it's missing a steeple. And to @BTHodgeman's point, it should be a bit larger.

    I also like the ski lodge, but that would be some serious coin due to all the white bricks.

    They could do white "rocks" - the large panels used for older castle sets - to keep white brick counts down. Although, I highly dislike those larger parts.

    For the ski hill, sloped bricks could also be used with the occasional exposed stud to position minifigs on the slope.

    A couple years ago, I did what @prevere said and purchased some white castle rock parts to use for building my own ski slope. I also bought a couple HP snow owls to scatter across the sets.

    Note: I did not build a lodge, just the hill with lego POB trees scattered across it. I then tossed in some of the various Series MFs that were snow-related (skier, snow boarders, etc.) and it actually ended up looking nice. It was easy to have an action scenes using lego connectors. I had one where a skier was in mid-air about to crash and burn with a wild look of panic in his eyes (sorta reminds me of....well...me). Good stuff...

    I'd love to see a Winter Train Station and a Winter Train, even though either the Emerald Night or Hogwarts Express are going to play that part on my Xmas decoration at home!

    Well as for train, they did come up with http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=10173-1 in 2007 I think.
    As for potentional upcoming sets. I could wish for a house with tree, presents and ofc a turkey. Containing mom,dad two children and maybe a grandparent. A butcher and his wife and some customers + oldfasioned car - We can't have those minifigs starving right :-)

    I'm not really on board with a candy shop. We'd have shop overload then in the first 4 sets of the series. There are plenty of winter/holiday structures to build that aren't storefronts.

    I'm with @Si_Dorking_Surrey_UK. Simple residential house should be the next set. Very workable, as you can have a holiday dinner scene on the inside, house decorating on the outside. What kind of village is it if there is nowhere for people to live?

    I was thinking they could do a 3in1 set (like the Creator Houses, but on a much smaller scale) with a Winter Village house. It would encourage collectors to buy multiple sets to build up their tiny Winter Village if they could build unique houses from the same set.

    I have been thinking a small 'one-room' schoolhouse would fit well within the Christmas Village. It fits the time frame and the nostalgia of the theme.

    I think @Si_Dorking_Surrey_UK and @brickmatic are on the right track, with a house and setting up decorations both inside and out, maybe a little christmas tree on the inside.
    I'm from the Southern Hemisphere, so we get a summer christmas, but these winter sets look great.
    Also @Rollo_Tomassi idea of a 3 in 1 Creator set would be fantastic!

    Just to point out, that until next year you can easily expand your village with a few white plates and the MMV and MMR (the barn of which makes a nice nativity scene), I did mine quite quickly with what I had lying around (mostly hinged car roofs) but I'm sure others can do them neater.

    also the holiday train is awesome, highly recommended. There's not enough room on my white base (a ikea pax shelf I got for a £1) but looks lovely running round the bottom of my tree.

    I actually have a MMV that is MSIB waiting to be opened and assembled by the kids. There is something about the buildings in that particular set (and the MVR) that fit in nicely with the Winter themed sets. As the poster mentioned above, a person just needs some white plates and it has good WV potential.

    Biggest thing I can think of is Santa's Workshop.
    (Comes with Santa, Ms. Clause, Elves, as minifigures, and some reindeer)

    I'd suggest a town hall with a common area in the front with a large Christmas tree.
    You can have a Mayor, Carolers, Sled Children, and some winter dressed minifigures.

    I'd also suggest (as someone else has) a train station dressed out for the holidays.
    (can come with a couple of porters, some winter dressed passengers, and a conductor as minifigures)

    Another possibility is a ski lodge with a Christmas tree in the window on the inside.

    Would it be feasible to have a Christmas Parade as part of the series?

    Not an idea for a set, but I think for seasonal polybags, why not have each of the 12 Days of Christmas, eg, a partridge in a pear tree, a minifig maid and a cow, etc.? I would collect all 12 of them.

    "Six geese a-laying" would be interesting. Perhaps that one would be a Power Functions set?
