As a reminder, the Brickset Bargain Watxh page is updated multiple times daily and has become a staple of my deal hunting.

http://brickset.com/buy/us/amazon/

Some interesting additions...

#70400 Castle Ambush 27% Off (not into this wave but a great parts pack)
#60020 City Cargo Truck 25% Off (I really like this set)
#6862 Lex Luthor Mech 25% Off (IMO, the best Superhero set so far)
#79008 LotR Corsair 21% Off (Still a nice deal, but has been better recently)

When i first saw #6862-2 I didn't think much of it but I picked it up last year and built it and really liked it. I would agree that it is definitely one of the best of the SH sets. Not just some crap with good figs like most of them seem to be.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ so since that link didn't work, how do you link using the # sign to a set that isn't a -1 for the number? Looks like it does a search instead.
  • canon03canon03 Member Posts: 364
^ the search behavior happens every time I try to just add pound before the set number too. I've tried a bunch of different variations with no luck.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
@graphite, your link works. You just need to come back to the page after you post, don't try to click directly on the link your just posted.

^^ The # feature always searches from the mobile version of the site if that is how you browse. But for normal numbers as in the original post they take you to the detail page just fine.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^^ I see that now. It didnt work the first time after I posted, but does now.

No doubt, I was confused in a couple other threads when people were getting so excited about the Secret Space Voyager.

Just as a heads up to the site Admins, I noticed it isn't showing up on the Amazon Shopping list page.

Well... this is a TECHNIC-ally a deal about a book:

    Lego Crazy Action Contraptions Hardcover-spiral
    by Doug Stillinger

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1591747694/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I didn't even know about this book until the deal site mentioned about it last year. Folks got all excited about it when it was at its lowest at $14.23. Now the new low is at $12.92 (@2/18).

Also same price at Wally World... if that matters... I joined Gathr to "subscribe" to Amazon gift cards, so Amazon preferable to me.

Thanks, @Basta - I've added the set to the Amazon.com listings so it should appear going forward.

Link below - still 20% off RRP at time of posting:

^good idea! I am hoping for some of the same deep discounts that we have seen on the newer Star Wars sets. Is there an official do not discount list? I was curious about the Tumbler and Sea Cow as examples. Thanks,
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Heck, I'd take retail price on Amazon for HH or GE. That would be awesome.
  • DedgeckoDedgecko Member Posts: 798
For amazon, camelcamelcamel is the best for price alerts and history. All of the previous train sets got down to30% closer to November/December. So holding out until then.

I think in general that most people wait until 25-30% off to buy whether they are resellers (though likely to want % off to be higher) or regular buyers.

I posted it because there are those who do not mind buying at retail because they want it or need it (for a birthday, or whatever), and figured that they would rather have 15% off than nothing off.

Other than train sets, it seems like $150 is the do not discount below price, and least that's what I've seen in the last nine months of actively watching prices / trends. Millenium falcon and the republic gunship were what? 130-140, and they received big discounts down to below $100 for sales, not considering clearances.

LEGO SW I think is priced high on purpose so outlets can 'discount' them. They tend not to do that much with the Exclusives anymore due to the 'ban' on exclusives in the US where prices cannot drop.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
#60035 Arctic Outpost is currently 28% off (~$36) at Amazon. Pretty good for such a new set.

^ This... and it isn't a new idea... the idea that you simply mark up by 20% just to let everyone discount by 20%... old school retail... :)

And then there is TRU school retail where you mark everything up by 20%.

Haunted House #10228 just came back in stock, but is a bit flaky every time I refresh the page I get different info. "Only 2 left in stock.", "20 Left In stock" "Will take 2 extra days" etc.

I managed to get an order in though.

Any idea when Lightning Deals will return on Amazon?
  • juggles7juggles7 Member Posts: 451
Lightning Deals are still there. You mean the Gold Box Quick Pick? Those were personalized, based on your previous shopping experience. I bet they were a loss leader, and won't be back until AMZN can turn a profit. Don't hold your breathe. As long as they're diversifying into things like cell phones (a disaster for them) don't look for any really deep discounts.
Amazon's official statement on the subject: The Gold Box Quick Picks feature is currently unavailable. It's under construction as we develop an enhanced and fun shopping experience. Unquote.

^There was one day where it was all Lego that were lightning deals.
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
I think it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving last year. I remember being glued to my computer when Amazon matched WalMarts 30% off all Lego last year, as well as having the lightning deals. It was very stressful. I snagged one of the train sets as part of the lightning deal. My trigger finger failed me on others.

It was on November 11th last year. I just looked up my orders on Amazon.
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
I remember them having various Lego deals spaced throughout November as well. I guess we just have to keep checking everyday.
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
There's some Duplo lightning deals going on this very minute.

#21115 34.99 which is $5 off MSRP over at target, not bad for opening night.

I think this thread is going to be burning up on Cyber Monday. I know last year Amazon was going crazy with the sales, stuff going up and down in price all day, and
I also remember having to go to Amazon and asking they price correct on stuff I got that day because 5 minutes later it dropped again.

While I appreciate that Bot Brickset has, I feel a bit more at ease seeing people jumping in the thread and posting things.

I dunno where they got it from, but I got it directly from watching Amazon. Is the bot that fast that it is catching changes in 5, 10 minutes of it? Cyber Monday is a matter of catching things as they occur otherwise you are likely to miss out.

^ U.S. prices are checked pretty frequently, and deals posted on this thread have often already been picked up by Bargain Watch by the time they're posted on here.

Not that it matters, of course - there's absolutely no harm in highlighting the best deals on this thread as well so that folks don't miss them so keep 'em coming!

With Black Friday/Cyber Monday right around the corner, this is probably a good time to remind everyone that if you purchase $75 worth of toys, to add this Gund Bear into your cart. It will end up being free at checkout.

For those like me that missed out on Wal-Mart's creative tower, Amazon has a consolation prize: #6177 is 22.99 (23% off.) That works out to be 3.5 cents per piece, but these are pure bricks. No 1x1 round plate filler. And it definitely beats the current counterpart #10662 which is currently sold out at Amazon.
