Recommendations for camping / outdoors-y sets

  Not sure if you're only into new sets or would you be willing to get some that are long retired, but as a kid I had 6584, it's from 1998 but it was great, had a nice cloth tent, mountain with all that climbing equipment and a neat suspended bridge. Some other that seem to fit the theme (but I never had them so can't really recommend) might be 6552 (from 1993) and 6563 (from 1996), but that is, if you don't mind vintage, back in the day when they used baseplates and only basic colours ;)

  Similarly retired, I noticed set #7624 -Jungle Duel comes with a material tent just the other day while nosing around ebay, but you'd probably be paying a bit of an unnecessary premium for that one.

  You could probably pick up a lot of appropriate collectible minifigs for relatively-not-a-lot of money if you know where to look.
  
  As far as I remember there have been:
  Skiers/snowboarders
  A parachutist (I dunno, some people like to jump off mountains and stuff, right?)
  A lumberjack who would be good for parts - a kind of out-doorsy checkered shirt and baseball cap
  A mountain climber
  
  There are also a plethora of SUVs and RV/campers i nthe City line in recent years, they often include dirt bikes, canoes, surfboards, etc.
  
  As for trees, there are a lot of instructions in sets and on line, but you're going to have to buy a lot of 'leaves' and brown parts from Bricklink or somewhere - they don't do the same parts/accessories packs like they used to (though, they are kinda making a little bit of a comeback in the more "battle-pack" like blister sets like the Arctic one you mentioned).

  How willing are you to modifying? The Lego Friends currently has some nice outdoors sets, but you may need to modify the color palette.

  Thanks all, that is a LOT of great suggestions, especially from @prof1515‌. Will be taking a good look at older sets as I had been focusing on current. Have my eye on some of the Friends ones too with palette modifications as @tamamahm‌ suggests too.

  @aid_77‌ thanks, nice idea the helicrane. I'm going for more of an "idyllic" rather than realistic outdoors theme so I don't think the loggers will feaure, but appreciate the thought :-)
